    … a deviated septum surgery

Well, he missed the most important game of the entire season when everything is on the line against his former team and the guy who was the reason why he demanded a trade because he had a frickin nose surgery???

According to his agent this was necessary due to his facial fracture earlier in the season and Ainge downplayed this whole thing telling reporters that Kyrie is a good looking guy and doesn’t want be seen right after that but come on guys. He could not find a better day other then a sunday during memorial day weekend and the biggest game in recent franchise history to get his damn nose reworked?

It‘s pretty obvious to me that Kyrie kind of knew what was coming from LeBron in this game 7 and didn’t want to witness this.

There were many topics in recent weeks where Scary Terry and Smart carried this team if the Celtics should trade Kyrie or not and I laughed about it. But right now this is not only weak from him regarding the LeBron matchup, this is totally disrespecting what this team accomplished in this playoffs. Go look at Jaylen Browns face after the game when he was in total disbelief what could have been and tell me Kyrie is a part of this group and truely cares about this.

      nothing to see here?

I know Cousins was also away partying when the Pels were playing playoff ball and I also think this totally disrespectful to the team. In other sports players are always on the bench or in the stands if they are movable and even in NBA standards I think this disrespecting what his teammates have done if you choose to go for a scheduled surgery rather then supporting your teammates on this stage in this moment.

This is weak and you can’t me convince of the opposite.

I’m confused how Kyrie having a surgery is comparable to Cousins partying while the Pels were in the playoffs.  Kyrie had with the team for pretty much every home playoff game.  Ever since Kawhi wasn’t with the Spurs during the playoffs it feels like every time an injured star isn’t on the bench it’s a big deal.

During the season Gordon Hayward was only on the bench for maybe 2-3 games.  He said it was too painful to watch the games from the sideline.  When the playoffs started he was in Indiana doing gait rehab.  There were only a couple times he was with the team during the playoffs.  Do you consider that being disrespecful to his teammates?

outside of basketball who cares if he was doing such and such. What he’s supposed to Stop living because he’s signed to a team. Stop trying to hold these players to a standard that doesn’t allow them to be human! That’s like if I’m out on workman’s comp, I’m not showing up to the quarterly strategic planning meeting! I’m out on workman’s comp likeeeeee! Lol

Kyrie Irving’s agent told Jackie MacMullan that he "wanted to attend the game but couldn’t fly because of the surgery."

It’s not a great look, but I imagine he had the surgery scheduled long in advance.

Last time I had surgery it was to remove a impacted wisdom tooth and I was given 2 dates which were months apart. Not sure of the exact dates but it was like September 1st or November 15th and I had to pick one date. Id imagine a world class surgeon is even more busy and if it is not an esssential surgery that needs to be treated immediately a world class athlete like Kyrie may not get the priority service NBA players take for granted. Either way who cares.

Kyrie wanted to get traded from Cleveland to get out of the shadow of Lebron, and be a leader.  A  leader does not miss game 7 of a playoff game against his old team.  Eapecially against Lebron.  Especially since the win would get them into the finals.  It’s just not what a leader would do.  A leader would be all over the bench rooting his teammates on.  People here are trying to compare game 7 of the NBA conference finals to being out on disability, or comparing to Cousins partying, or whatever.  That is comparing apples to ornages.  No one is saying that a worker on disability, or Boogie Cousins, is a leader.  If you think Kyrie os on that level then I guess yeah he should skip the biggeat game the franchise has had for years.  But if you are Kyrie, wanting to be the leader of the Celts, then you have to lead.  Whether you do it on the court or from the nbench, you find a way to be visibly present with your brothers on the biggest night of their careers.  Any true Celts fans in here want to share their perspectives?  As a general basketball fan, I am not impressed by this.

I think Kyrie should have been there for all the reasons mentioned above. His absence really gave me the impression that he put some personal feeling of his above his feelings as a teammate. And I would go as far as to say that this Celtics team achieved such a level of chemistry and togetherness, that I may be not sure they´d have had the same results with Kyrie on the floor.

I really consider a MUST for them to resign Marcus Smart. They’ll make a real big mistake if they don’t.
