bloodshyParticipantBYU’s Kyle Collinsworth had 23/12/10/3 today, completing his 5th triple double of the season. The prior record of 4 triple doubles in a season was shared by a few former players including Jason Kidd. The career NCAA triple double record is 6. Collinsworth is a junior and will almost certainly return for his senior season.

mikeyvthedonParticipantKidd had 4 during his sophomore year at Cal in 1994 (which were apparently his only 4 during his time in college), which was tied for most in a season with Michael Anderson (Drexel), Brian Shaw (yes, that Brian Shaw, UC Santa Barbara) and Stephane Lasme (UMass). The record for most in a career is held by that same Michael Anderson and by none other than LSU’s Shaquille O’Neal, with 6. One other fun note is that Marshall’s [Player: Hassan Whiteside] has the most triple doubles in a season by a freshman, with 3.
[Player: Kyle Collinsworth] is a great all-around player, nice to see him come back strong from the ACL tear he had in his right knee last year during the WCC tournament final against Gonzaga. The guy has been a huge force for them ever since coming back from his mission to Russia and while they do lose [Player: Tyler Haws], they bring in a big time recruit from 2013 in [Player: Nick Emery]. It is really difficult to get triple doubles at the college level, and while we can only imagine what might have been had they kept more rigorous statistics way back when, Collinsworth is showing he can really put up numbers across the board.

Memphis MadnessParticipantGood for him!
Tough to do on any level, especially college with a shorter game and fewer possessions.
I also saw that Fred Van Vleet got a triple double today, too.
7 is the career record huh? Probably modern day as I am sure a guy like Oscar Robertson put up a ton.
I think Penny Hardaway put up back to back triple doubles for Memphis (State) back in the day.
I am wondering if anyone has put up a quadruple double in a college game. I think someone did a few years ago.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThat’s right. Lester Hudson put up a quadruple double a few years back.

JoeWolf1He might have a chance to be an end of the bench NBA player. Smart guys who know the game can usually get a shot, although I’m skeptical he has NBA staying power. I think he’s a bit reminicient of Joe Ingles.
