Kobe Bryant, denying father time, is seeing a bright future from the sidelines for the Lakers.  They can be rebuilt around him and win is his vision.  Projecting a starting five for next year using current draft.net projection pick.  Heres what were looking at:

    PF  Ed Davis

    SF  Julius Randle

    C    Karl-Anthony Towns

    SG  Kobe Bryant

PG  Rajon Rondo (Kobe acquisition,   Bledsoe like contract in 60+m range)

Last contract year for Kobe.  Team wins and competes for playoff spot in 2016.  Negotiations for Kobe again.  Worth 12m for 2 more years?  Probably can negotiate more with new revenue for league.  Probably worth it as a seat filler for the star loving crowds in L.A.  Kobe worth max contract again??  Only considering the strength of this projected team and passing the torch one day to the next star.  Looking good on paper (Big like Grizzlies but short on shooting)

Kobe says ba bye yo or Kobe in 2020?

he’s still a big deal name wise.   We’ll be fooling ourselves if we suggest people wouldn’t come and pay to watch Kobe play at 39…   So a contract worth $12 million a year is decent for him if he can still average near 20 points a game at the 2…   That position is probably the worst in the league right now and he’s still a top 5 player there at 36 years of age (if he’s healthy none the less)..

Why would you think Julius Randle could play SF?  Also, what makes you think this is a playoff team in the West?

Just has quickness to defend and has a little look of Lamar Odom.  Most of all just having the talent in the starting five

Kobe Bryant denying the truth is what the headline of the article should read.  If he really thinks that they could have a Spurs like resurgence in one year he is just as delusional as I thought at this point in time.  Unless he is willing to take a significant pay cut, it’s just time to move on.  I’m ready to move on, does that make me a bad Lakers fan?  Some would say so but, he is a huge shadow that will linger over the franchise until he retires, maybe even a few years after that.  The sooner we get started with that proccess the better in my opinion.  It would be nice to see the Lakers actually field a team that encourages team ball, where as if Kobe is on the team, it’s always going to be Kobe ball first.

Honestly I didn’t count Kobe out before the season, after all we never know. But okay, now we know:it’s over. That’s not a shame Kobe 36 years old,19th season 5 titles,1 mvp 2 finals mvp . One of the greatest ever,no doubt. But I don’t want to hear everything we heard in October agan. It’s just time ,and whatever he says,I’m pretty sure he knows it.

Thanks folks for the negs.  Not a Laker fan but team projects to look like a solid team with a draft/addition  regardless if Swaggy plays center, Kobe runs the point or Lakers are 2 games out with 3 to go and they are playing the 76ers and Magic b2b and they got the Jazz away for the 8th spot.  Eloquent feedback from fbomb3300.  Deserving of 10+ positive.  LOL  Im fosure reading your next post jajajajaja….

The Lakers were in tank mode this year and we had 2014-15 Kobe trying to play like 2004/05 Kobe, he was taking far too many shots and still trying to win games on his own. In some ways he was in a chatch 22 situation, he has a huge salary and is considered a star player so he was trying to live up to his billing plus with a lot of his team mates being there possibly short term we cannot argue so much he should involve them more a let them develop.

Kobe could play another few years if he regains fitness, he won’t have had the miles from the last two seasons on the clock. But if he doesn’t look the same player next season I hope he has the dignity to bow out without becoming a shadow of his former self. If he does play on after 2016, he will need to take a big salary cut, I’d hope he’d say to the Lakers, I’ve had a great career here I’ll play a year or two for $2 – $3 million a year. Knowing Kobe’s ego he may demand more but I’d be reluctant to pay him more than $10 million a year.

He cannot be allowed to play on if he depends the team go short term rebuild for his wishes, if they choose to it is their choice, not him saying "hey I want another ring". I have no issue with him starting, I don’t ever see Kobe as a 6th man, even if he plays less minutes than the guy nominally backing him up, the starting position should still be his if he wants it.
