Why on earth would the Knicks want him given his track record with injuries? I guess if they’re getting him for nothing it is worth the long shot.

The New York Knicks are reportedly attempting to follow the Brooklyn Nets’ reported acquisition of future Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce with a move for a former first overall NBA Draft selection.

Is it LeBron James? Nope. John Wall? Not quite. What about Derrick Rose? He’s not available either.

The Knicks were negotiating a deal with the Toronto Raptors on Sunday that would bring Andrea Bargnani to New York, as first reported by The New York Times. The 7′ Italian forward has not fulfilled his potential in Toronto since being taken with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2006 NBA Draft. In his seven seasons with the Raptors, Bargnani has career per-game averages of 15.2 points and 4.8 rebounds.

Citing unnamed league sources, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that the Knicks agreed to send a 2016 first-round pick, Marcus Camby, Steve Novak and two future second-round picks to Toronto.

Before Knicks fans got themselves too distraught over (or totally talked into) the team’s intent to use future draft picks to acquire a power forward with an aversion to rebounding who is widely considered one of the most notable NBA Draft busts in recent years, the deal was reportedly put on hold pending NBA approval.

i’m okay with Camby, Novak and the second rounder but do they want to give up a 2016 first rounder which will likely be in the 20’s. The 2016 draft may be stronger than first thought when a few prospects from 2015 decide to return to school instead of entering the loaded 2015 draft. its not like Bargnani is going to completely change the fortunes of this team and that pick could be used to trade for an actual difference maker.

I don’t like this deal at all for the Knicks cause this sets more question marks than it answers any rotations. Who defends the wing and the post now, who scores in the post and how the hell can the Knicks absorb this contract, how do the salaries work in this trade. This makes no sense to me at all.

    Hahahah
Ujiri is already working his magic in Toronto and cleaning up Colangelo’s mess. I like it.
The Knicks already have a top 5 offense, why on earth would they be willing to take Bargnani and have their defense take a hit? I can’t explain it.

Seems as though the spirit of Isaiah Thomas still lives in Ny. I’m letting all the New York fans on this board know, prepare to be disappointed and upset if this trade does go through. I’m actually in shock that on top of getting rid of bargs Toronto also got a 1st rounder. Masai the messiah making his presence felt early.

One year of optimism… thats all the Knicks front office is gonna give their fans? I cant wait to see when Chandler gets in foul trouble and the Knicks are forced to play a frontcourt of Bargs, Melo and Amare…. I’m shuddering that Carmelo is by far the best defender of that trio…. and that trio might end up playing 90 combined minutes between them.

I am so distraught right now. A waste. And just giving up a 1 rounder? This is staring to feel like 2000 all over again, forfeiting the future for a poorly constructed present. Only difference is, in 2000, the Knicks had spent a decade being really good. Now, the Knicks seem absolutely determined to be mediocre for a long time. The Atlanta North if you will.

What’s that? The Knicks are making a trade? Alright, I guess they felt the pressure after the Nets big move. Who are they getting? Andrea Bargnani? Oh… okay I guess. Were they able to get them to take Amare’s contract!? Yeah I know, wishful thinking… Novak and Camby? Okay, I guess. Was a pick included? 2016 1st rounder! Okay this trades actually not too bad… What? Say that again. I’m sorry, I thought I heard you say that THE KNICKS ARE GIVING UP A 1ST RD PICK TO GET ANDREA FCKING BARGNANI!!!

Yeah hilarious that they are paying for the privilege of playing a guy who was arguably one of the worst players in the nba last year who got serious minutes.
