DMC kills another coaches career, this time a Hall of Famer like George Karl, this is another long line of head scratching moves made by the front office over the last Decade

What does this mean for the Kings immediately? Do they try to find another coach to coddle Cousins? Do they cut ties, and trade him for those Boston picks plus a Marcus Smart?

I’m not surprised by this, but Karl isn’t the only at fault here, Cousins, Rondo and Gay have to look in the mirror and realize they have to bring it every night and become leaders for this team or their next…

     Source?

either ways – it’s the right move – but an AWFUL hire, reminds me of d’antoni in LA. What the hell did they expect?!? HORRIBLE fit for the roster.

i can’t even blame boogie for this one – they hired a coach who could never harness his potential. How he hasn’t demanded a trade yet I don’t know!

Karl did it to himself wanting to trade the star player before he even coached a game with him

I wouldn’t blame DMC as much as the kings management, they haven’t made a good move in years, and completely lost DMC after they fired Malone for seemingly no reason. As noted above, Karl was not a good fit for the team, especially with Rondo at the helm

If this is true, I’d say it was a long time in the making.  After trying to unsuccessfully trade DMC, Karl was never going to be trusted again.  Karl is now going to have to fall on his own sword.

It can be tough when you have a proud old school coach. Larry Brown and A.I. were always clashing. I can remember Eddie Jones trade rumors before their finals run. Larry was able to check his ego and build a winning team around his star player.

The only reason this disappoints me is because there isn’t also an article with the headline "Lakers to fire Byron Scott".

Lol at DMC killing another coach. Karl at this stage sucks.  Lacks energy, he has no commanding presence anymore, yet he’s still the needling guy he always was.  He looks feeble and disinterested, but has time after games for backhanded comments.  Every stop he has had, he’s gotten into it with his players.  He was always more of a gimmicky coach than an x’s and o’s coach too.  He was a mistake hire from the start.  As long as their loony owner feels the need to meddle, I’d have no confidence they’ll make a great hire.  IMO they had their coach for the future, a guy who the players respected and wanted to play for (yes, including Cousins) in Mike Malone and they fired him for god knows what reason.

What coach could’ve won with this team as constructed?  I hear all of the chatter about Karl sucks but I dont see anything about what coach would make the Kings better.

I also don’t see the problem with Karl wanting to trade Cousins since all players can be traded… what makes Cousins so special that he should ne exempt from being traded?

George Karl was unlucky to be moved on by Denver apparently over not playing JaVale McGee but at the Kings he does look to have lost his way and maybe doesn’t have the hunger for the game he used to.

The Kings do have a decent core but there are always issues with DMC so the question is do they consider moving him on and would many teams take a chance on him given his issues and the asking price the Kings would want. Boston are rightly mentioned as they have a lot of assets but would Danny Ainge risk some of them on DMC given that he doesn’t make rash moves and can explore all options with his stockpile of assets.

The thing with DMC is that we have never seen him on a winning team, I’m not saying it’s down to how he plays. What I mean is, I think you’d see a much happier DMC on a winning team than he has beemn with the Kings.

If you were appointed coach of the Kings the only demand would have to be that Cousins is traded.  Karl knew he was uncoachable and not a winner, if he did try to trade him it was the right idea.

Kings are going nowhere with Cousins, and if his new team gives up too much for him they will be stuck like the Kings.

Karl will now retire, I assume.  He did have some fun Seattle teams.
