The Thunder appears to be on the verge of completing a sign-and-trade that would include guard Kevin Martin.
Under a proposed deal reported by ESPN.com, the Thunder would receive a trade exception as part of a three-team deal with Minnesota and Milwaukee. The Wolves would send point guard Luke Ridnour to Milwaukee as part of the deal.
Oklahoma City is believed to have pushed hard for such a deal since July 1 because it allows the Thunder to get value for Martin, who had already agreed to a four-year deal with the Wolves worth reportedly $28 million. Instead of letting Martin sign with Minnesota outright, the Thunder would gain a valuable tool that would give the team the ability to make a future trade without having to match salaries.
The value of the trade exception would be roughly $6.6 million and would be available to the Thunder for a year from the day the deal is completed.

I really hope this happens so we don’t lose him for nothing. A 6.6 million trade exception is pretty big, though it kind of sucks it can’t be used for a year.
