Kevin Martin fractured his left thumb against New Orleans on Friday Night. News reports say that he’s out indefinitely. In his absence, Chase Budinger was moved into the starting lineup against Portland. He played well scoring 19 points. Perhaps more interesting though, is the fact that Shabazz Muhammad received his first meaningful minutes of the season. Against the Blazers, Shabazz played 17 total minutes, and scoring 12 points, all from the post ups and freethrows. He played hard on defense, and didn’t appear lost out on the court.

Martin could be back any time, but it’s nice to see Muhammad finally get some burn.

He will shine in due time. Might take a year or two, he’ll be one of the best in this years draft class.

Would love to see Shabazz get some meaningful playing time this season. Hope he can eventually reach that star level that many thought he could achieve in high school because Lord knows the NBA could use some more elite shooting guards.

I really hope so, Muhammad was my favourite prospect from last year’s draft and seriously underrated for a number of reasons – I was devastated when the Celtics traded him for Olynyk.

The guy still has star potential and I hope Adelman doesn’t screw him out of minutes like he does seemingly every young player.

All that may happen is Barea gets more time next to Rubio. But with the injury trouble the Wolves are facing Adelman may just be forced to play Shabazz more. I cannot understand why it will have taken Martin going down for him to do that though.. Without Budinger for so long the Wolves bench has been such a non factor and was incredibly weak, you’d think he might have branched out a little earlier since the team has been struggling to remain near .500 all season..
