I don’t usually want to speculate in trade scenarios but I am wondering what you guys think about this situation? I know that Boston Celtics are intrested in Kevin Love and i belive that if Cleveland would be able to pick up the talent of both Crowder and Bradley they would fill to big holes. Both Crowder and Bradley are great defender and decent offensive players. They are both able to hit threes and play within the offense, which i think fits perfectly with mainly Lebron but also Kyrie Irving. With the addition of Crowder and Bradley Cleveland would be able to play "small ball" with Kyrie Irving, Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Lebron James and Tristan Thompson. They would also be able to go big by substituting Thompson for a real center like Timofey Mozgov or having Lebron playing at the three tristan at the four and Mozgov at the five. I belive that this team would be very hard to beat as they would be able to match up agains any kind of line up.
What do you think about this trade? Is it to much to ask for in a trade involving Kevin Love? Is it more reasonable with a trade for say Jae Crowder and the third pick in this years draft, which you flip for a good wing in a trade with another team?

    Thanks for your input

Doesn’t say much for Kevin Love to be on the block a day after they win the title. Says even less that I’d prefer Bradley and Crowder.

Boston has no intention of getting rid of Bradley or Crowder.  They are both on extremely team friendly deals that give them the flexibility to chase marquee free agents for a couple years.

I see why shipping Love makes a lot of sense for CLE and I do believe he would fit really well with Stevens, but that asking price is way to high, and I think CLE would be more interested in getting back someone more in line with Lebron’s window, Hello Carmelo.

I’ve said this trade in a couple other spots and it’s worth repeating.
Kevin Love/Two Future first rounders (They’d be bottom of the first picks anyway) for Melo.
Makes a lot of sense for both teams in my opinion. NYK need to wash their hands clean from the Melo circus, and build around Porzingis.

There is no way CLE brings back Mozgov.  He was David Blatt’s guy and he wasn’t even contributing during their postseason run.  He’s a free agent and his CLE days are done.

Wasn’t contributing? He wasn’t even playing except a handful of minutes here or there. I’m sure it was a tough year for Mozgov made easier with winning it all. I doubt he’d willingly return to not be part of the rotation and I doubt the Cavs want to spend what he’d cost if they only want to play him sparingly.

Does Melo has a no trade clause? Lala may not want to to Ohio, first reason why Melo didn’t end up signing with Chicago, correct? Also, I don’t see why NYC needs Kevin Love given the emergence of Porzing-god?

The Celtics are probably interested in K-Love but I doubt they would give two of their core players for him. Right now, the Celtics have a very deep roster of solid role players or promisong youngs and getting tns of draft picks. They will very likely deal draft picks, ongoing projects like James Young and decent vets like Jared Sullinger. The latter is the type of players cleveland wants, perhaps more so than Jae Crowder, but Love has more trade value.

Cleveland just won a title, so there is always the "neverchange a winning team" rule, plus even if disappointing, the guy still has star-level hype, so Cleveland fans would not want to give him up for nothing.

A likely scenario however would be that Cleveland pursue someone like Al Horford on the market, and tries to make deals with Boston and perhaps the 6ers to make the money work. In that case, Cleveland would give up K-Love and the contract of Iman Shumpert and/or Channing Frye, for Avery Bradley, the 3rd pick to the sixers and a small salary contributor from the bench from philadelphia, only Covington fits I believe, maybe Carl Landry if they think he is better and cheaper than Frye. It’s very likely with such a trade that cleveland gets other draft picks from both Philly and Boston, that they will try to trade later on to other teams, I would say 6ers #24 and one of the celtics 2nd rounders.

What about if the 76ers traded Nerlens Noel and Robert Covington to Cleveland, the Cavaliers traded Kevin Love to the Los Angeles and the Lakers traded the 2nd pick in this draft to Philadelphia?

LeBron gets a young athletic rim-protector and a young, cheap perimeter weapon, the Lakers get a famous player with an LA connection to speed up their resurgence and the Sixers get to pair up Simmons and Ingram while holding on to Okafor (maybe for another trade).

I don’t see Love going to Boston unless a third team is involved. Boston has picks, lots of picks that are coveted by most NBA teams. Cleveland, and their win-now attitude, is not one of them.

Love has been a disapointment his value isn’t as high as it was when he was traded to the Cavs. What has Kevin Love shown in the past two season to make any team jump all over him? He’s not on a favorable contract. He’s been exposed on defense. I’m not so sure the Celtics are willing to give up quality assets on cheap contracts or the 3rd pick for someone like Love.

I’m a Celtics fan and unless you can get Love for pennies I don’t want any part of him

There’s no reason to trade Love. He’s far more valuable to this team that his stats show. His presence on the perimeter alone is a big help to Cleveland. He drags opposing big men to the perimeter which opens up the lane for James and Irving. He’s a big reason why Cleveland made it to the finals in the first place.

I don’t see why they’d get rid of him, especially now that his trade value is at an all time low. Teams will try to lowball the Cavaliers. I hope we keep him, his contract won’t be too bad with the new salary cap of 94m.

Unless the Bulls somehow became enamored with Love and offered Butler for him straight up, I’d keep Love for 1 more year at least.

Although I agree the Cavs should’ve kept Wiggins and that Love has been a dissapointment, why mess with success. Clearly he wasn’t that big of a liability if we were able to win a ring with him (Even though we were much more effective with RJ at the 4).  He still provides a decent stretch 4 and a decent rebounder. We have the King and Kyrie, there’s no reason why Love can’t be a very expensive  role player.

just my 2 cents but I didnt see things the way some of you guys did.  all I saw was a glorified floor spacer and that almost got them swept until Ty Lue figured out that camping this guy at the 3-point line wasnt the answer.  takes away from his strengths.  he is a rebounder and interior passer.  pulling what bigs out to the 3-point line?  Warriors play small ball with excellent defenders with tremendous help capability and footspeed to make up ground to contest.

his "floor spacing" is almost what got them done in.  Kyrie and Lebron did more work on the outside than in the paint as far as half court was concerned.  Love and TT were on the glass.  what Love did in game 7 is what they needed.  hustle and rebounds with a lil post up against the small ball lineup.  while he showed effort on defense, his lateral foot speed is horrible.  he couldnt contain Varajao off the dribble.

if you want a floor spacing 4, there are many other cheap options like Frye who they already have.  you ask why cant he be a very expensive role player?  because that’s bad management.  Cavs can win another chip if they can get rid of his contract.  I agree with the poster who said they should go after Horford.  the question is, who wants Love’s contract?  I think they are stuck with him unless they can find a sign-n-trade to link up to for some other player who is gonna walk anyway.

I’m a Celtics fan, so I’m probably biased, but at this stage I’d rather have Bradley and Crowder, and I doubt the Cavs want to break up the title team that fast. As shown in Game 7, Love does have a role on that team, though you could certainly raise the question that he’s a much better fit elsewhere and somebody else could provide what he does in Cleveland’s system for cheaper.

       + 1

Celts have good core on good contracts.  They fit into the system well.  If this were Love coming from Minny, they would be all over it.  He has looked more like a role player in Cleveland.   if you are paying a #1 option that kind of money, they have to make an impact on winning.  He didnt do that in Minny.   Plus he is getting older and I have always questioned his durability….but thats just me.
