Durant is currently on a scoring tear… Scoring 25 or more points in 26 consecutive games. The Thunder, 23-59 last season, are currently 33-21 and would be the fifth seed in the West if the playoffs started today. They’re one of the hottest teams in the league right now.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but his numbers are very comparable to LeBron’s, except in the assists category. Here’s a comparison…

    Durant to LeBron

    Team record – 33-21 to 43-14
    MPG – 40 to 38.9
    Points – 29.8 to 30
    FGM/FGA – 9.8/20.4 to 10.1/20.2
    FG% – 47.9 to 50.3
    3PTM/3PTA – 1.5/3.9 to 1.8/5.2
    3PT% – 38 to 34.9
    FTM/FTA – 8.8/10 to 7.9/10.2
    FT% – 88 to 77.2
    (OFF) REB – 1.1 to 0.9
    REB – 7,5 to 7.1
    STL – 1.37 to 1.65
    BLK – .91 to 1
    TO – 3.74 to 3.61
    AST – 2.9 to 8.4

Where do you think Durant should be on the list right now?

Durantula is having a great season, but id still have to put lebron as the mvp, id say durant is prolly 2nd, im sure some people would put kobe ahead of him still, but either way this kid is a future multiple time mvp.

nope. everyone is behind lebron. durant is great but even some of those stats make more of a case for lebron. like the turnovers for durant i expected to be lower just because lebron always has the ball and the main part of his game is driving which makes him more prone to picking up a charge but durant is probably second

Yeah, to answer the question, he is in 2nd to 3rd place…LeBron is no doubt the MVP this season….Not even a legit question

he’s gunna keep going up on that list as long as The Thunder keep on getting more impressive wins but i think he”ll end up a close second

Both very skilled, I think Durant deserves it more. We already know Lebron is a beast, we knew KD was up and coming but he’s just been a machine this year, and with the overachieving the Thunder are doing I’d give it to KD. But nonetheless Lebrons numbers are slightly better, he will most likely get it.

Scary thing is Durant will only get better, even though Lebron hasn’t reached his peak yet, I don’t see his numbers improving much more than they are now, but with Durant the skies the limit. Can’t even imagine what this dude will be in 3 years.

gotta agree with mike hes second or third. i say second not just because of his scoring but because how much he’s helped okc become so good. i say third because kobe scores just as well and actually better a well as play better deense. i put lebron first because he’s doing just about everything you can do while leading a team who isnt as talented as others to the best record in the nba
