Bryant24ParticipantLebron has been the easy choice for mvp, scoring title and any other accolade you can possibly think of but he’s he’s joining forces with two other MVP candidates, it’s unlikely that LeBron James or his two other superstar teammates will stand put individually as they did before. If Kevin Durant has a season close to last year he will win MVP out of the love that he’s received from this whole LeBron madness.
So is the MVP durant’s award hands down?

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantThe scoring title is his to lose. MVP is up for grabs. Kobe is still near the top of his game, Carmelo could make a push in a contract year, Dwight is in the mix as always. IMO I think DWade has a really good chance to win it next year.
You don’t have to average 30 PPG in order to win MVP…

stanford hoopsYeah I think he hE takes scoring but Kobe takes MVP with a summer off and his finger fixed. So I say no to durant hands DowN MVP statement

Bryant24ParticipantI know that Carmelo is inconsistent at times at tend to slack off against weaker teams he always start the first 2 months of the season off strong but then fade out. Dwight Howard has all the potential in the world but he should score more than he do he is athletic and very strong if he averages at least 22ppg and 13-14rpg and holds d like he always does he should win but it depends on the sucess of the orlando magic because they were alot of people favorites to win the east and take down the lakers. Kevin durant does more than scoring he rebounds better than he gets credit for and he holds very good defense he actually held better defense on kobe in the playoffs than Thabo sefolosha did and if thunder wins at least 55 games this year he probably gets it. But Kobe is a darkhorse but people were saying he is old his scoring increase this year and he shot less and pass more he could be the one who wins Mvp this upcoming season and im not saying because he’s my favorite player.

Bryant24Participantyeah kobe could win MVP if he gets finger fixed an have a season like he did this year he should win it but we need to win more games than thunder.

SteroidParticipantCarmelo already signed an extension..
But I do think that Durant could possibly win the MVP if his team gets at least 55 wins and he scores about 28-30ppg with 8 rebs, 4ast, 1.5blk. Also, I think he needs to make some significant strides on def in order to win the MVP. I’m not saying he plays bad defense, but it needs to get better. Durant can’t win the MVP simply from scoring because we all know he can do that. That is why I said in order for him to win the MVP, he has to be significantly better on D.
But yeah, I think it is obvious that he could win a scoring title with LeBron having to share the ball with Wade and Bosh. If Kobe can stay health, I’d say he has a chance too..

IndianaBasketballParticipant@Steroid
I don’t think Durant has to be *significantly* better on defense to win MVP. Steve Nash won the MVP award back to back and never played a lick of defense. Dirk won it and wasn’t a defender either.
Durant is going to have the numbers. I just think he has to lead the Thunder to 55-60 wins, which is possible. I mean, they won 50 games this past season and the West has gotten weaker with Stoudemire and Boozer going East. I also think Durant needs to become a better closer.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe media won’t vote for LeBron unless he averages a triple-double. There is just going to be too much bad blood about how this played out.
Durant is a strong possibility. Wade would probably be the most likely member of the Heat as he will get all the praise and get tagged the “leader.” Kobe can basically win it for any and every year of the past decade and nobody would blink. All that said, if Orlando wins the Southeast division next year, it is going to Dwight Howard. Nobody can argue with it either.

IndianaBasketballParticipantYea… I’m not sleeping on Dwight Howard, especially if they win the Southeast.

Bryant24ParticipantDwight Howard is going to have to increase his scoring then he can do it and i think him and druant are the favoriteas to win the award if he averages at least 21-22ppg and keep rebounding and holding defense at an elite level like he has been doing he deserves it.

ckessler33ParticipantBrandon Roy could take it home if Portland finishes in the top 3 of the west. lol I know I’m biased but he could do it!

IknoBall12Participantdurant is my early favorite despite dwight and kobe. i do feel that those are the top 3 players in the mvp race. The scoring title will hands down go to durant tho. I think the mvp race shapes out like this:
1. durant
2.Howard
3. Kobe
4. Wade
5. Carmelo0- Posted on: Sat, 07/10/2010 - 10:50am #351326

gregoden08ParticipantLBJ has won it 2 years in a row and you don’t even have him in your top-5…lol what a joke.

gregoden08ParticipantBest player on one of the top teams usually win it. Who cares if Durant scores a lot? He won’t win MVP next year IMO.

stanford hoopsI doubt that we win more games then the thunder or anyone else in the west

the I in winParticipantAmare could actually be in the scoring title race seeing as the knicks don’t have any other options.

GrandmamaParticipantlmao at Amare being in the scoring title race….Melo, Durant or Kobe will win the scoring title
Amare will average around 22-23ppg next year.
