"First of all man, I wanted to call in to ESPN and say something when I saw them saying [Carmelo Anthony would mess it up]," Kenyon Martin told SI.com. "Melo wants to win. The man is a competitor, and he wants to win. He’s as competitive as they come. "Smart basketball player, and the best player on that team — hands down. So I don’t understand why people are questioning whether he’s selfish or not. No, the man is not selfish. The man wants to win. He’ll do whatever it takes to win. I don’t think he’ll mess nothing up. He’s going to come in and be Carmelo Anthony." SI.com

for all those calling him selfish…heres an ex-teamate giving you the truth!!!

"He’s going to come in and be Carmelo Anthony".

freeze ball movement. shoot over people

in a interview with carmelo they asked him what his thinking when he got the ball or something like like that, and he says: i only see one defender in front of me and everything else is just disappears.

    i.o.w… tunnel vision.

selfish, never makes that extra pass

"Melo don’t play there no more. So Karl shouldn’t be commenting on Melo. If George was such a great coach, then Melo would want to stay. He wouldn’t want to leave."

I think Kenyon needs to take his own advice, he doesn’t play in denver either anymore and shouldn’t be stirring s***, to put it bluntly. Still I do like how supportive he is of a teammate (even tho they don’t play together anymore). Kenyon is defo a guy I would want on my side when if I was in a fight in my opinion lol!

IM still CTFU @FutureScout that was clever.

But more then teammates Martin and Melo are great friends I dunno if you can say that about his current Knicks teammates especially Tyson Chandler who seemed  to be on the verge of calling him out earlier in the season.

I like Melo but if he wants to win he needs to start playing some defense.

agree with everything kmart said right there. Melo’s been dominant at every level he’s played, and if you watch the games you can see he’s actually a very good passer. He’ll take some bad shots sometimes, but you live with that when you have someone who scores like that. My main issue with him is how frustrated he can get when things aren’t going his way. I’m a huge Carmelo fan, but things get in his head way too easily. But he is their best player, he’s clutch, and he’ll fit in fine. It’s more of system issue i feel, he needs to be catching the ball in certain spots on the floor in position to score, not the ball handler on pick and rolls on the perimeter. D’antoni should be able to work that out quickly.

not only k-mart protects his friend but you also forget that K-mart is in conflict with the nuggets….

he never accepted the fact that they didn’t extend him and prefered to let him go. It sounds to me that he got square with the nuggets.

I think melo is the best scorer in the game… but far from the best player : defense dedication is a big issue with him.

I dont understand "Melo has dominated every level…" No, he hasn’t dominated the NBA. He’s made it out of the first round 1 time. No so called "star" has had that little playoff success, except Chris Paul who was playing with anywhere from 9- 10 1/2 scrubs in New Orleans.

K-Mart had a few run-ins down the years with Coach Karl and I can see him being a bit upset when they didn’t extend him as he battled back after microfracture surgery and played with great intensity for the Nuggets. Also I wonder if K-Mart does have some sort of issue that he never quite became the player he had the potential to become although he did return from surgeries on both knees including one dating back to his college days and he is still playing in the NBA in his mid 30’s. So maybe this is something Greg Oden can take hope from.

career 25 and 6 whos been to the playoffs every year. Tracy McGrady dominated the NBA and never once won a playoff game, you wouldn’t consider him a "star"?

Honestly i agree with fvckswag666, melo has not dominated the nba, he is an great scorer and offensive player but he leaves a lot to be desired on the defensive end, as well getting far into the playoffs. I will give him credit though that the nuggets made the playoffs each year he was there but they never got anywhere really. The nuggets were a better team without him and knicks were worse when he got traded there. The only professional thing Melo has dominated is international play, which i believe he is arguably usa’s best internation player.

Maybe outside of what Lebron did for Cleveland, no one player is responsible for an entire teams playoff success, its ridiculous to put an entire teams playoff performance on Carmelo. And in ’09 they made it to western conference finals. Its also not a reflection of Melo’s talent that the knicks gave up so many players to get him, and the Nuggets ended the season on a run. The Knicks were banged up by the end of the year, and this season is almost a completely different roster with Chandler, Lin, Shumpert, and now JR Smith. Once he’s healthy and acclimated with everyone, the knicks will be the better team.

Usually its players talking about coaches.

Karl just couldn’t stay quiet about it to the media, can’t blame Kmart for what he said.

I don’t think its a big deal and the Nuggs lost in the 1st round w/out Mello last year anyway.
