    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/16688724/kent-bazemore-agrees-return-atlanta-hawks-4-year-70-million-deal

Reportedly turned down offers of 72 mil from the Rockets and Lakers. This solidifies Al Horford being gone from the team. Although Horford is most certainly at this point a better player than D12 going back to even the Josh Smith days Horford has always been undersized at the center position. The Hawks are upgrading their center position defensively and rebounding but obviously taking a dip offensively with Horford’s range. At this point however I’d prefer Millsap to Horford. They are equal rebounders, Horford may have a better mid range jumper but Millsap is far more versatile offensively and is quicker.

This is the current makeup of the roster:

    PG: Dennis Schroeder
    SG: Kyle Korver/Tim Hardaway Jr/Deandre Bembry(R)/Lamar Patterson
    SF: Kent Bazmore/Thabo Sefelosha/Taurean Prince(R)
    PF:Paul Millsap/Mike Muscala
    C: Dwight Howard/Thiago Splitter/Walter Tavares

Looking at the current roster you can definitely see the strengths. Their Center depth is great with some big bodies and they have an influx of wings who can defend modern day offenses. Glaring need is obviously to get a strong PG to balance Schrodeder who is being handed the keys but may have times of inconsistency. Bringing back home someone like Jarrett Jack would be the perfect. Also wouldn’t surprise me to see them package Splitter with Thabo or Hardaway for a PG.

This team could give Cleveland a run for it’s money. I think Bazemore will be the full time starter at shooting guard with Korver and Sefolosha getting the most minutes at the 3. Hopefully Prince gets some action too.

That’s a solid squad. If Schroeder and Bazemore take the next step they could be very good. If they can come anywhere close to what the raptors have with Lowry and Derozen. Add that to Dwight and milsap with korver. I like it a lot.

I think the Hawks have a decent team. Dwight should be a very good addition, but I just feel like something is missing. I’m not sure what it is. My question is how can they get better? They need a backup pg definitely but DS is the starter obviously. Are they good enough to contend with Korver and Bazemore being the starting wings? I’m just not too sure if that’s enough. Who’s out there that they can possibly pick up?

Brandon Jennings would probably be too expensive. Maybe Isaiah Canaan? Any chance they can swing a trade for Monta Ellis?  I’m curious to see what’s next for the Hawks.

If that team gives cleveland a run for their money it will mean Kyrie and lebron have either been suspended or injured!

I haven’t seen Prince at any of the Hawks press stuff. I guess we’ll see if he’s on the summer league team.

BigChamp12 nailed it on the head: no way we can contend with Korver and Bazemore starting on the wing. That’s absurd to think so. I really thought we should’ve let Bazemore walk, he’s pretty overrated IMO. I know we had no shot at JR, but I’d take him in a heartbeat over Bazemore especially with the defense he played in the finals.

Yup, no way the Hawks could contend with Baze and Korver as starters. Nothing against them but, as good a defender Baze is, he has a really hard time handling starting small fowards. With Korver as his partner, he is usually tasked to guard someone like, as seen in the playoffs, Lebron, and it’s a total mismatch.

Now if they could slowly bring along Taurean Prince as a replacement for Korver, and move Baze to the 2 spot, they would be a lot more balance. Prince will bring A LOT of versatility on D, an not to mention he can stroke it. Korver then could serve as a headache (for other teams) sixth man running of every screen possible just like what he did for the Bulls.

If that happens though, I see Bud transitioning his offense to more of an inside game since he will be losing in Korver a huge part of their past offense. Schroeder and Dwight will be deadly on the PnR, especially with Milsap waiting for a kickout. They could also run a lot of high-low, big-to-big plays with Milsap and Dwight.

This Hawks team looks reaaally exciting and I might just finally hop in their bandwagon. A lot of people have forgetten, but Howard is still an ELITE defender. ELITE. Especailly on the playoffs 2 years ago, where they advanced to the West Finals, Howard’s prescence was felt throughout. Schroeder, Baze, Prince, Milsap and Dwight on defense?? Wow……

If the Hawks can find a way to bring in Jarrett Jack and Harrison Barnes, I think they can compete for the 2 seed in the east. They’d probably have to get rid of Tiago Splitter, Tim Hardaway Jr, and maybe DeAndre Bembry as well but it’d be worth it. Harrison Barnes isn’t really as bad as he was in the finals. He could help this team

Horford will be a Celtic. If Dennis is not the truth they are screwed.
