Lotto StudParticipantAgain IDGF if I get bashed for saying this, but I feel as though Kemba will have a rookie season similar to Brandon Jennings. Kemba will be called upon to be the Bobcats go to guy since Jackson is gone now. I can expect Kemba to avg over 15ppg with a career high as high as 35pts which is my Bold statement. IMO MJ knew exactly what he was getting when he made the trade, although Kemba should not be the primary guy out the gate.
If you don’t agree, please tell me who will put up buckets for Charlotte.

carefulParticipantI almost negged you cus I thought you said he would have a season in his career averaging 35ppg haha but yea 15ppg is definitely believable for Kemba’s rookie season

llperezIs he even better then DJ augustin? DJ put up 14.4ppg and 6.1apg last year and has 20 point ability on any given night.

prodigynewyorkParticipantI think if hes given the ball from the beginnning he will have a better rookie season than brandon jennings and will be more consisent with his numbers not fall off at the end of the regular season like brandon did… and he prabrably will be top 3 in the ROY voting if given enough playing time maybe even win it..

JNixonParticipantDJ Augustin is Kemba Walker with a 3-point shot. Walker isn;t better than him right now at all. Also, Walker will get extended time and he will score (with low 40 FG%), but he’s not a true enough PG to just come in and take Augustin’s time off the bat.

TooNice4TVParticipantYounger, less stats version of AI. Quick as lightening with the ball, midrange game, both play the game with a huge heart.

GrandmamaParticipantKemba is better defensively right now and will be a better long-term option at the point. He won’t start right away, but he will be given the chance to cut into Augustin’s minutes from day one. Given the fact that they drafted Kemba at 9 and that Augustin rode the bench from time to time last year tells me they aren’t sold 100% on Augustin.
Personally I like Augustin. He had one of the best assist to turnover ratios last year and at times put up great numbers. I still think Kemba is the the better long-term option though….

4hff4f427ParticipantSorry but I just can’t see that happening unless they move DJ Augustin. I’m just thinking because they let Raymond Felton slide so easily last summer that MJ and the ‘Cats have something of a vested interest in Augustin as their PG of the future. And for those that ask "So why the f&%k would they draft Kemba"?? Honestly, I wish I could say but I don’t have a clue. Sorry Bobcat fans, but I just could never figure out why they drafted Kemba(seriously, at the time of drafting #9, with Augustin/Maggette/Thomas/Diaw/Biyombo on board, wouldnt a Shooting Guard like Alec Burks or Klay Thompson made a little more sense?? I’m just saying.)

Ghost01ParticipantRaymond Felton wasnt even that good in 2009-2010, and look at how much better the team was with him than it was with Augustin in 2010-2011.
Dont give me this DJ Augustin crap.

4hff4f427Participant@Urbanovreverything Everything you just said is flawed. Big time!! Felton may have struggled his final year in Charlotte, but he still managed to avg 12ppg and 5.6apg(both nearly doubling Augustin). Bottom line: Walker will NOT have as good of a year as Knight. Augustin avgd 33 mpg, and considering he’s going into a contract year, he’s gonna want to keep those numbers rising to increase his value.
"Dont give me this DJ Augustin crap." If thats not ignorance, I don’t know what is.

BKKnicksfanParticipantBut Kemba Walker won’t be starting day one. I think a fair average for him will be 11 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds. I think he will be the lightingrod off the bench.
Also, Charlotte might not be the 80’s Lakers, but between Augustin, Maggette, Diaw, Henderson and maybe a cheap FA pick up, I think they will be alright scoring. Do I think they get 100 every night? Nope, but they should be alright.

B-ball fanParticipantI heard that the Bobcats really missed Felton’s leadership last year, so they struggled even though Augustin put up arguably better numbers than Felton. Not sure if that is 100% true, but if it is, than they very well may look to Kemba for a long term solution at pg. I do think initially Augustin will start, with both playing together at opportune moments.

BoomshakalakaParticipantI think the question is whether Kemba can play the point. If he can run the point guard position properly; control the tempo of the game, create for others, and score when he needs to that he will eventually be better than DJ and you can consider him a good pick. If he is going to come into the league as a really short SG playing next to a short PG (in DJ Augustin) then it was a bad pick by the Bobcats.
I think (hope) he can play PG I think he just scored because he had to when he was at Connecticut.
is he a Point Guard that can play some SG or a short SG that will be the PG if he has to???

Cardinal_FanParticipantI love Kemba’s game! Imo he will take the starting job from Augustin. Kemba’s game will look alot better on the NBA level with the floor spacing, less zone, no hand checking, and isolation oppurtunitys. Scouts call him a combo but i guess people are forgetting his 1st 2 years when he had upper classmen with talent that he deferred to. Yes Kemba is an attacker not a set up man. But with his attacking style he will find holes in the defense ala JJ Barea. Kemba may never be an All-Star but my belief is the guy will be a solid starter in the league. He has the heart and competitive drive and the ability to be a really good pro. Seeing the Big East and NCAA tournaments showed me he’s got what it takes to lead. Jimmer couldnt do it in a similar situation, and Brandon Knight couldnt do it with a more talented team. Kemba WILL be good.

boxn1ParticipantThis is a money decision. DJ is nearing free agency. Charlotte has no plans to pay anybody, they have dumped every piece of salary and rookies are cheap labor. Kemba is a good player who will produce to the level of DJ(maybe more, maybe less). If there is a next season DJ will be traded for a 1st rd pick or for cash considerations.

PulseGlazerParticipantKemba reminds me of a lesser scoring Damon Staudemire, who was, lest we forget, pretty good for a fairly long time. I’d also try and move Augustin to the Lakers (Shannon Brown and a #1) or even the Clips (Amino, or Augustin and option to swap #1s with that Minnesota pick the Clips have).
