XYRYXParticipantWith the start of Free Agency here are the first results in terms of verbal commitments as well as the hottest rumors and the first offers who are repordetly thrown at players.
Noah to Knicks for 4 year deal worth 70/72 milions depending on where you read this news.
Drummond and Beal both reported to stay with their teams for the max around 130 million.
Batum to stay with Hornets for 5 years and 120 million (!!!), 5th year a player option.
Mozgov to Lakers for 4 years and 64 millions.
Clarkson reported to stay with Lakers on 4 year 50 million deal. Fair value to me if true.
Ish Smith to Pistons on 3 year deal, details still unknown right now.
DeRozan to stay with Raptors for 5 years and 139 million.
Hassan Whiteside to resign with the Heat or to sign most likely with the MAvs, his forst choince to talk to beginning Free Agency. MAvs offer would be around 99 million for 4 years. Heat would liek to offer him slightly less, but if money is the issue, they would give him a similar deal. Whiteside will name decision soon.
Howard is asking for a yearly salary starting at 24 million. Teams he talks with are Boston, Atlanta and 2 other. Teams with interest are also Rockets (wich I doubt), Hornets and Blazers.
Parsons had meeting with Blazers and reportedly impressed with their pitch, since they offered a 4 year max deal worth 95 million. Crazy to me since he ended both of his last 2 seasons with knee surgeries and his flat shot doesn’t strike me at all.
Teams with interest in Kent Bazemore are Lakers, Rockets, Pelicans, Magic, Knicks, Bucks, Nets and Hawks. Kent Bazemore and his agent believe he can net a contract starting at 19-20 million. I doubt many teams are in line for him if he really is asking for 20 million per year.
The Market for Heat guard/forward Tyler Johnson reported to be around 10 million per year and strong interest by several teams including the Pelicans, Nets and Hornets.Jeremy Lin seeking for a deal around 12-14 million per year.
The Magic have interest in Jeff Green.
Eric Gordon has Knicks on top of his list. Personally I could very well see this go through and on paper this is a nice fit but is the Zen Master really going to assable a starting lineup there with players who already had knee surgeries, a torn meniscus or a torn acl??? Good luck Kristaps with a fragile lineup of former greats.
Pau Gasol seems to be heavily persued by the Warriors and the interest seems to be mutual and I have to agree his fits in perfectly there with his skillset. Spurs also in play.
OKC made qualifying offer to Waiters and made him a RFA. Several teams including the Kings, Magic, Sixers, Bulls, Heat with interest. Kings are reportedly preparing to make a significant offer toward him. Man I would like to see Dion beeing back in OKC but not for a significant amount of money and can’t believe the Kings are unerringly picking someone out of any FA who, well has a strong personality himself. smh
Jennings to work out for the Nets in UCLA.
That’s it for now but man money is thrown around like carzy. Parsons, Bazemore both more than 20 million – wow.

220ParticipantI wonder if the 76ers even tried to bring Ish Smith back. They dealt their second rounder next year to get him which will likely still be an early second round pick. They also dealt another second round pick for him. I thought they should have at least attempted to keep him as the cupboard is bare at point guard for them right now, with the next best guy being TJ McConnell.

ChoppyParticipantThanks mate. I really like this pick up for the Pistons. He put up good numbers on a historically bad team in Philly but at New Orleans, surrounded by a better cast, he still played really well. Perfect back up for Reggie.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI hope the Blazers don’t pay Parsons that… Huge mistake. His knees are a ticking time bomb and they don’t need more of that ish.
If Mozgov is worth 4 yrs $65 million, how much will a player like Mahinmi get who was one of the more improved big men in the league last season?

r377ParticipantThe Kings, Hawks, Mavericks and Bucks have all reached out to the camp of restricted free agent Matthew Dellavedova.
The Cavs are likely going to retain Dellavedova, but they might have a hard time bringing him back if any of those teams offer a huge deal. Dellavedova will head into his age-26 season, so this contract will be at his prime.0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/01/2016 - 3:23am #1078707

dmo21ParticipantI almost feel bad for Dallas. They try every year to get some top free agents and they never seem to seal the deal. I don’t even know why players spurn them. They’ve been a perennial playoff team, in a good city, low taxes, good coach and an owner willing to pour in money to bring in players. This year already, they’ve had 2 players(assumingly) go back to their original teams after being heavily linked to the Mavs (Whiteside and Conley). Even their own top free agent is sounding like he’s leaving (Parsons).
So the team is pretty much just Wes and Dirk right now. I assume Dirk will resign as he is loyal. So who will they enivatebly get to fill out their 3 starting positions? Jennings or Lawson at PG? Deng or Joe Johnson at the 3? Hibbert or Biyombo at the 5? That’s a mediocre team there. I’d like to see them get at least one top guy (like Howard) this off season.
0- Posted on: Fri, 07/01/2016 - 5:48am #1078626
XYRYXParticipantI totally feel the same.
Is Conley staying in Memphis a done deal or have I misinterpreted your comment??
To be honest I’m not so sure anymore that Dirk won’t hang it up if they don’t manage to build a decent team. He told for years he is going to play the game until he doesn’t feel he is helping them anymore OR they can’t compete in the western conference. He made sure several times he is not playing in a rebuild situation and when they again strike out in free agency this year they have a very thin roster.
Hope they don’t resign Parsons and let the Blazers deal with his knees and a max contract though. He is nowhere near the player I see having earned a contract like that. Rather let him leave then deal with a contract like this.
0- Posted on: Fri, 07/01/2016 - 6:15am #1078634
dmo21ParticipantSounds like it’s between Memphis and Dallas for him with the Grizz having the upper hand. I think it’s just enevitable that he goes back to Memphis and rightfully so.
I agree Parsons leaving isn’t such a bad thing, but the point was that their own free agents aren’t even staying.
I hope they can bring in some quality guys just for Dirks sake. A starting lineup of Jennings, Matthews, Johnson, Nowitzki and Howard would still be a lower tier playoff team in the west. I’m just unsure of what acquisitions they can pull off.

dmo21ParticipantWell first off, I’d rather have Big Al for 10 mil than Mozgov for 16.
I believe Jefferson and Turner should be a good fit. On offense, Big Al gets the low post and Turner can spot up and spread the floor. On defence, Jefferson can muscle with the big men and Turmer can be a help side defender. The only thing is that Turner will struggle guarding other 4s, especially if teams go small. But that also works both ways, because that guy will also have to handle Turner on the other side of the ball.
0- Posted on: Sun, 07/03/2016 - 1:05pm #1079405
HitsterParticipantGiven the money some guys are getting I feel the Pacers have got a real steal in Al Jefferson for $30 million over 3 years. He had a quiet season last year and had a short suspension too, but he’s always been considered a fairly good character guy and he’s passed the Bird/Pritchard/McMillan character test.
He can still provide good scoring and won’t be expected to carry the offence with Thad Young also added to the roster minutes can be shared around.
The Pacers may not have made spectacular moves but they have added some very good players on very cap friendly contracts who can provide good support to Paul George.

Good value as well adds shooting athleticism and fills a combo gaurd need. BC is a better GM than people give him credit for and he has been making good simple moves and not forcing shaping the Philly roster. He drafted well and so far he is signing well.

XYRYXParticipantman I really need to get comfortable with this salary figures but in contrast to what is thrown around this summer it’s basically market value and I really like Evan as a player. Underrated defender, good shooter and can create for him and others. Also improved steadily over the years and should compliment the roster well.

XYRYXParticipantWow finally Dwight back in Atlanta but unfortunately he seems to not be in his prime anymore and could really be heavily overpaid not. Good for the Hawks it’s just a 3 year deal.

But Boston is going to pay hi way more than we paid Howard. It’s just Howard is irrelevant at this point. I’d rather Biyombo.

XYRYXParticipantReally dude???
I mean we have been talking about Conley being underrated for years now and those who know the game also know he is a very good PG playing both ends of the floor but 153 million??? That should be the richest deal in the NBA ever handed out and that in the golden era of point guards and this guy was never an All Star ever!
That’s basically Joe Johnson kind of contract territory except Joe could actually put up 22 to 25 points.
Man the Grizzlies just went full retard with Parsons and Conley. That’s almost 250 million dollars handed out to two players who most likely never will be on any All Stars or All NBA teams players. You NEVER go full retard man

Hype MachineJazz get Iso Joe for a couple of years.
Jazz normally are not free agency players but wanted some playoff experience no doubt.
It wont effect their ability to give guys like Exum, Hood and Gobert their money…plus depth the next year if Hayward decides not to resign (likely imo).
So, I’d rate this signing as a solid B+ and Jazz should look for a SF in the next draft.

Pylon on defense, absolute liability. To be fair he is a good fit with Dantoni and should be a stat stuffer but I just think the money could be used much better.

The second year is a player option. CSN’s James Ham reported earlier that Sacramento rescinded their offer to Seth Curry in order to pursue a veteran, and now we know their target. It’s an interesting move for the Kings and will do nothing to quell speculation that Rudy Gay is available for trade, as the 36-year-old Barnes could slot into a starting forward spot next season.0- Posted on: Sun, 07/03/2016 - 3:49pm #1079431

HitsterParticipantGood to see Richard Jefferson coming back for another year and to play as a Championship winner. He gives the Cavs great experience from the bench and can still play useful minutes around the big guns. Plus come play off time his experience will be a big bonus.
Hornets have added Roy Hibbert on a one year deal for $5 million. In today’s salary climate, that’s a nice deal for the Hornets.
Just waiting for LBJ to sign his deal – likely to be the biggest of the current FA season.
