WizardofOzParticipanthttp://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/12/01/smoove-landing-for-josh-smith/
“The fact that he beat his teammates to the practice facility and worked out all by his lonesome, spoke loudly enough about his priorities. But there was additional body language from J-Smoove: He is 35 pounds lighter, proof that Smith was mature and dedicated enough to keep himself in supreme shape during the extended summer and focused on having a more robust season.”
—–How do you feel about the new slim J-Smoove? I think this is a good move for him. He was a serious hi flyer back in the day when he was younger, and I thought he was too bulky these past few years.

akhan786ParticipantWow he looks like a completely different player. Really glad that he is finally showing some maturity.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI think he wants to show that he can transition to the 3 allowing Horford to play the 4. When everyone bumps up a position, you got from a short team to a long team. Now they need a C like Tyson Chandler!

IndianaBasketballParticipantHopefully he can shoot 35 less bricks per game. That’s what I want to see… IF he’ll stop taking stupid jumpshots.
He looks great though, just like he did during high school.

M-DYMESParticipantAwesome now he can play the 3 again like he should have been until he bulked up. I think he would have been even more dangerous had he played the 3 his whole career.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t think he has the perimeter skill to be a full time three man. He’s a tweener in a lot of ways, but he’s athletic enough to get by.

M-DYMESParticipantHis 3 ball is better than people give him credit for, but it still isn’t good enough for him to shoot from there regularly. But defensively, I think he will be even more dominant at the 3. Todays game calls for you to have a good player who can cover this era’s imposing 3s. Hopefully the loss of weight translates to better quickness and allows him to matchup with a guy like Rudy Gay or LBJ.

JaeEvolutionParticipantI’m not always happy with J-Smoove, but this makes me pretty happy. I hope he uses his quickness now to get to the rim and finish with authority rather than take 18 foot jumpers, because man he can be deadly if he plays smart.

TRC1991ParticipantHe looks far better. Great to see this out of Josh Smith, whom I have always been a big fan of. He probably weighs around 220 right about now, and its no secret he was about 255-260 last year. Should help him dramatically

I May Be WrongParticipantMeanwhile, John Bryant gained 35 lbs by the end of this sentence.

esperanzafleet69Participantid have to agree with you indiana, except the past 2 years smith has barely been attempting 3’s showing his shot selection has been much improving… i think hes due for a breakout year this year..

Toronto16ParticipantWow, he really loves playing in Atlanta and doesn’t want to be traded. But I’d still love to see him traded to Orlando to pair with Dwight.

omphalosParticipantI really like this, I feel Smith can excel as a stopper on the perimeter and use the skills he gained playing the 4 to bully other 3s in the post. Wishing good things for Josh this season.

JoeWolf1Watch out, I never understood how somone that pudgy could jump so high.

JNixonParticipantI thought Smith was fine physically, but I guess not. He was a little less explosive, but he did a better job defending PF’s and taking contact than he ever had before. Especially last year and the year before as well. He also took substantially less jump shots last year than before from what I remember, because he was more capable of playing in the low and high post
