Big loss for the Bruins. Bolden was their most versatile player and has the same physical tools and game as Nic Batum. Hes a long way from Nic Batum’s basketball IQ though.

Bolden has a similar background to Ben Simmons. Both their fathers were Pro legends in the Aussie league. Just a couple of black 90s ballers who slipped through the NBA system and then bbq’d the white aussie players when they came over as imports.

Even as biased as I am towards Aussies, there’s something not quite right about Bolden, which is odd since he has all the best resources available to him to succeed.  His attitude stinks. His body language is awful and just seems too ‘cool’ in interviews. Also, he could never meet Academic Requirements which is odd for Aussie kids since our standard education generally prepares kids heading over, even a year in advance (like Isaac Humphries).

Nonetheless, he reportedly plans to play 1 year in Europe, and then declare for the 2017 draft.

Wow, big loss for sure. I viewed him as the 7th man in a primarily 9 man rotation for ucla this coming season, but his value really was his versatility. He could play pf or play on the wing. A good athlete and defender. Could make the open three but not a great three point shooter. This puts that much more pressure on tj leaf to get close to 30 minutes a game.

Would be funny if the Spurs drafted him then sent him right back overseas

Didn’t show much of any of the potential I thought he had going into UCLA.. like you say just doesn’t seem to have the attitude. Honestly don’t see it as a big hit to UCLA since he would of been used as a 8th/9th man imo, in a pretty short rotation as is.

I never thought I would see the day that a Euro team was willing to pay more than UCLA!
