OldSkoolBasketballParticipantYou guys think its possible Wall will not be a number one pick if he does bad at the tourney and Evan Turner exceeds expectations at the tourney?

lalailaParticipantI don’t think so, just too much talent. But if it’s possible i still think he would show his talent in predraft workouts

DanEboyParticipantWall is such a talent that I can’t see how he ends up being picked anything but #1. He is as close to a sure thing at the PG spot as there is. As good as he is in college I think his game is much better suited for the NBA. I think the transition will be easy for him and he will have a monster rookie year.
Unless he pulls an Arenas, then all bets are off on his draft status.

the I in winParticipantEven if he stinks in the tourney he will make up for it in the combine and private workouts.

cheesepillowParticipantI think the only way for Wall to fall is to suffer an injury and have long term lingering effects that will concern teams during the NBA workouts.

the I in winParticipantIf he has a bunch more situations where it looks like he doesn’t listen to coaching he could possibly drop but even then i would take him 1st.

Toronto16ParticipantDon’t be so sure. Remember two years ago, Mike Beasley was the hands down #1 pick and Derrick Rose took that over. If Ohio State over achieves and John Wall flops, Evan Turner could take over.

MkadozaParticipantBeasley was never the hands down number one pick over Rose. Rose was the #1 pick for the majority of the time on this site, and his post season only solidified that, where as Beasley’s team continued to underachieved with the talent they had.

the I in winParticipantDerrick Rose went over Beasley because he is a point guard. There are plenty of talented forwards but not nearly as many point guards. Also Rose was flat out amazing in the tourney.

M-DYMESParticipantThe difference between when Beasley was 1 and Rose came up and took the crown was that Rose was a Freshman and had unlimited potential due to his dominating performances despite playing only 1 year of college ball. He also was a PG which is probably considered the most important position on the floor. Turner is older than Wall and we already have seen how he will handle college ball (very very good, but not as dominant as Wall could be at the same age). Wall also plays PG, and is leading a team full of young players. W/o Wall, Kentucky would not be nearly as good. Barring injury or unforeseen circumstances, Wall is clearly the #1 pick, no ifs, ands, or buts.
Young, Freshman prodigy PG > Very good Junior SG.

JoeWolf1Shooting guards never go #1, maybe if the Bucks or Wolves got the #1 pick then they could go for Turner or Johnson. Wall is the favorite for sure and I think there is a 95% chance of him going #1, but nothing is set in stone. A lot can go down from now to then, Wall has been the favorite all season long has preformed, has the potential, is on a top team, and will most likely be the #1 pick, but nothing is set in stone Feb 3rd, just ask BJ Mullins.

knicksfan7ParticipantI think if the Hornets somehow won the lottery or the Knicks (which would be the Jazz’s pick) then maybe they won’t select John Wall, but would end up trading the pick for a team who wants Wall.

knicksfan7ParticipantJohn Wall won’t go below 1 because almost every team wants the #1 pick to take him, so if a team that has a PG already and does not need John Wall would end up making a trade with a team who needs Wall.

armanhe is just to much talent to not draft…. and there are really like maybe 3 teams in league that dont need him cause they have excellent pg.

sheltwon3ParticipantJohn Wall will not drop and also I think a big thing that hurt Beasley was that he did not have a definite position and he measured smaller than what people expected. Rose had fewer red flags and almost won a championship but Beasley put up big numbers in college at a position that many feel he may be too short for or my suited to play small forward. Also a point guard is worth more than anything cept a good Center. Rose would have beaten out Griffin too. There is nobody out there that I can see overtaking Wall unless he is serious hurt.

JNixonParticipantI can almost guarantee Wall will be the 1st pick. He would have to have an injury that would forever linger for him to get passed for the 1st pick. Too much talent and upside.

quinceyhodgesim not sure if you remeber but beasley was the hands down number one pick for a long time in the minds of nba scouts. you cant go by this site because they also had mullans as the number one pick for a minute. if wall starts to play below par and some other star starts to turn it up in the tourney and a team with a good pg picks then its possible

IndianaBasketballParticipantI agree… The number one pick was considered Beasley’s to lose for majority of the season.
I think Wall is a lock to go first though… Too much talent and upside, plus like someone above said… His game is made for the NBA. Unless somebody else has an amazing tournament and just comes out of nowhere… Wall is going number one.

powerguard97ParticipantRose went over Beasley cause of Rose tournament performance.
