omphalosParticipantNBA players spending so much time in these Summer Leagues worries me somewhat; clearly they are head and shoulders above most of the competition, and it might be a little shocking for them to go back to playing other NBA players after dominating so much at a lower level.

Chilbert arenasParticipantHis jumper does look better, but it’s easy to make it look good when you’re playing far inferior talent.

TallmanNYCParticipantJumper looked a little slow on the release. Also didn’t look like anyone was really trying to D them up all that hard. They certainly weren’t hustling to cover any of the cutters judging by the number passes that lead to dunks.
I agree that this level of competition and when guys are only playing about 80% effort is not going to make any NBA guy better over the summer. This is just about staying in shape and maintaining your skills a bit. If we had a normal season, there would be plenty of preseason time to get it in gear. Heck, the entire regular season is really the preseason for the veteran title contending teams.

WizardofOzParticipantHis form still looks… hmm. It’s got a bit of a flick to it, and lacks lift generated by the legs. However, his elbow looks steady and he’s got a consistent (if short) follow through.
I did note two occasions where he pushed off more for longer shots, got a bit more elevation, and nailed the shot. His release timing didn’t look perfect there, but it’s still a promising sign.
The important thing to me is that John looked confident out there. He didn’t care if he was fading, people were in his face, he was on the run, or that he was wide open. He looked like he believed he would make the shot. That’s a big step on it’s own.

doubledribblerParticipantI don’t think the games mean much, but it’s a good chance for the players to work on their game. Sure the talent level is easier, but for someone working on their shot like Wall, that’s great because not only does it give him confidence to shoot it, but it gives him the time he needs to work on it. It’s not always easy working on parts of your game on your own and it’s not always easy when you’re playing with players as good as or better than you, because in those situations you are more likely to go with what you know because of being competitive or just not wanting to look bad.

knicks4lyfe88ParticipantWhen u watch this you can clearly see hes playing down to his level of competition and working on his weaknesses which is a good sign…If he wanted to be a dick and go hard he could probably dunk or get to the rack every play. Looks very promisng to say the least.

rileymcshea3Participantwow if J-Wall can get a good step back fadeaway jumper that would be impossible to stop if he really is 6’6 now and still has his lightningspeed

joecheck88ParticipantI figured John Wall was drafted on 6/28/10 but maybe I am wrong. JJ Hickson was impressive with his range and array of stepbacks and stuff. Like was already said, this was against far inferior competition.

tuck243Participantas weird as that sounds… But its hard to actually scout or rate someone when the only thing I have is highlights… Yea J.J. was hitting that shot, but how many games was played? How many did he actually miss? Same with J Dub? How many turnovers did he have? How many times did he miss that shot? Unless its all ONE game its hard for me to see how good a player is or how he has improved with a highlight tape of 5 games. Andre Drummond? I looked everywhere for footage of his games. Because games I saw I felt like he was "overrated"… His highlights tell a different story though… But I watched one yesterday where he dominated and I lowkey see the fuss… True story he reminds me of Kwame Brown in highschool rather than Amare… Amare is more explosive and quicker than he is… But Drummond is more agile than what Kwame was…

WizardofOzParticipantI found a few clips of Drummond games from earlier in the HS season.
There are some other games of him on the account of the uploader of these videos.
From all this footage, Drummond doesn’t really impress me. Despite being the strongest person on the floor usually, he would rather settle for a soft hook shot rather than overpowering the defender like he’s capable of. And despite being the most talented player on his team, he’s not aggressive, and is just a complimentary piece for them. And he has a very poor motor. He’s capable of dominating this level, but I’m not sure if he wants it.
His talent and physical tools are undeniable, but if he doesn’t start being more aggressive and trying hard all the time, he might turn out to be a bust. Talent will only get you so far. These videos were from earlier in the year though, so he’s probably better now.
That’s why I think he should go to college this year. He needs to start playing people older than him, instead of just bullying smaller kids. That’s how he’s really going to develop. He already said he’s not going to college next year, so I guess there’s no point of talking about it. But if he was to declare for the 2012 draft, he would go #1 just off potential.

tuck243ParticipantThis was 2010… Its 2011 my friend… But I’m with you for the most part though… I seen one game in AAU this year he dominated so I can see the improvement, but he’s not as athletic as people think he is… And to go #1 overrall in a deep draft next year? That says a lot… I just don’t see it… I see potential for a bust written all over it… Its like Cam Newton…

uknationParticipantDoesn’t it make more sense for him to work on face up jumpers and sky hooks against the smaller competition instead of just over powering them? I dont see how just oer powering will help his game
