Absolutely unreal this kid is, his nickname should be The Natural because I just saw him do the Hakeem shake mid game like he pulled it off in the shower. Imagine Drummond (who I and a handful of others compared him to after his very first game, JoeWolf)… So Drummond with Roy Hibberts touch, I think he will become a force on Offense, how could he not?, he moves better than alot of prospects who get praised for having legit post game. I think he even has the soft hands to make that lil 10 footer that Dwight TRIES to make. Emiids a star in the making, its obvious. #1 pick.

I think he has a chance to not only be the best center but also the best player in the league in five years. The league has always been about centers it’s just that lately most of the big guys are either injury prone,  limited in ability or they play 20 feet from the basket. A dominant center can effect the game more than any other position and if he continues to develop at the rate that he is without any injuries I think he has a chance to be the most dominant player in the league.

I’ve never seen any collegiate player learn more and display this much improvement throughout a single season. To me potential, isn’t just having room to grow, but it’s more importantly a pattern of growth. Being athletic and raw is nice, because you can imagine that player with all the skills in the world, but seeing a guy improve and show a pattern of growth paired with the willingness to learn and the desire to be great, at least in my mind, is more important than just having room to grow.

The guy does look good and considering that he has only been playing the game a few years has that great gift of "upside". The question could he be the best C in the NBA one day, I’d say yes it is possible he’s 8 to 10 years younger than a lot of the current top C’s and could have more upside than more recently drafted C’s perhaps.

So there could be a window where Joel is the best C in the NBA, the big intangible is can he be the best C in the NBA for a significant amount of time. Also what is the strength in depth of the other C’s, D-12 has perhaps been the best C in the NBA for longer than a lot of the greats were but his nearest competition of say Roy Hibbert, Marc Gasol, Brook Lopez etc is no where near like what it was in the 1990’s when you had Patrick Ewing, Shaq, Hakeem, David Robinson, Mount Mutombo etc.

That is a bold and ridiculous claim, we have not even seen him play in the NBA yet…
