I know everybody has been saying this guys deal is the worse ever I dont agre its not even the worse in the NBA right now. Just think about it he isnt a superstar but he is the best player on a team the has struggled since mookie and mutumbo so I understand them over paying for him, but everybody would have called them cheap if he just walked away and they would have lost tons of fans. So go easy on them they had to do that it at least when he gets older he can play small foward like Pierce is doing now.

Anyways look at the dumb contract Rashard Lewis got and he isnt near the player JJ is all he does is jack up threes he doesnt even rebound. Next year he will be the second highest paid player in the league and every year after he will be top 3 in the league in salary. Do you guys reall think JJ contract is worse that the 6year $110million contract Rashard recieved he gave the magic 14points and 4.4 rebounds thats horrible

JJ contract is not good for Atanta long term but I am sure he will average at least 17 points per game all of his years and his game does not rely on athleticism so he should be fine. He also keeps himself pretty small so I could see him prolonging his career like Ray Allen is doing. ATL needs to get him some help though so he does not wear himself out carrying that team.

Paying stars is not a bad thing. Paying role players is what ruins teams. Joe Johnson makes the Hawks a better team. He isn’t worth the money, but it won’t ruin the Hawks because they’ll still be a playoff team. Seeing him walk would have made them the Warriors. Nobody wants that. Would Jamal Crawford and Josh Smith lose interest if the team can’t compete? Would Mike Bibby’s body decay at a faster rate? Would Al Horford want to sign an extension? I might be alone on an island, but it seems to me that dumping Marvin Williams and Zaza Pachulia and replacing their money with the extra money headed Joe Johnson’s way is the more sensible approach to keep Atlanta basketball from complete ruin. Those are the bad deals. The awful Matt Carroll, Darko Milicic, and DeSagana Diop contracts kill teams. Rashard Lewis isn’t the contract that is hurting the Magic. It is a lot of money, but he helps them. It is Marcin Gortat, Brandon Bass, Chris Duhon, and Mickael Pietrus that stings. The only good thing about those contracts is that it will keep them from throwing money at J.J. Redick.

I thought you meant Lewis is no where near JJ Redick lol

Like some said, if it’s your star player, I don’t really think you could overpay him. If it was Al Horford or Marvin Williams that got this contract, yeah it would be horrible. The only thing that makes me iffy about his contract is that he’s not exactly getting any younger
