    36: Bojan Bogdanovic, 6’7 216, SG/SF, Cobina VIP Zagreb (Croatia) , 22 years old

A guy who’s been a prospect and on the pro scene overseas is Bojan Bogdanovic. His draft stock is iffy because he signed a deal with an overseas team and buyout details haven’t been released. Physically, Bogdanovic has solid size for a swingman at 6’7 216 with a good frame, adequate length, and fairly mature body at 22 years old. As an athlete, Bogdanovic is mediocre. He’s not overly explosive or fast, but he’s got some quickness and fluidity.

On offense there is a certain wiggle Bogdanovic plays with. He’s not overly explosive, but he’s deceptive and isn’t a slouch. As a shooter he’s confident, but he’s not a pure shooter by any stretch. Prone to taking some bad shots with a hand in his face, but he does possess good shot-making ability, a quick release and good touch. Can shoot off the dribble, spotting up or off screens. Has NBA range, even off the bounce. As a slasher, Bogdanovic is OK. His athleticism is only OK as is his 1st step, but he has a few hesititation dribbles moves he can use to get a step. Not explosive really and not gonna dunk on anyone, and struggled to finish around the rim a little bit in traffic. Not much of a passer and usually looks for his own shots off the dribble or looks to shoot off screens. Alright in transition, with enough speed and leaping ability to finish around the rim or pick his spots to make jumpers without a set D.

Defensively, it’s hard to say Bogdanovic is anything good. His team was bad on D, and he never was an exception. Not very quick laterally and plays stiff. Will struggle to defend NBA wings. Likes to gamble in the passing lanes and is capable of getting some steals and starting the break.

Bogdanovic is an offensive prospect who has some contract issues that may ultimately make him a 2012 prospect. As it stands, he is a solid shooter and shot-creator who doesn’t defend great right now. It may take him time to see an NBA floor though, as he’s not quite good enough offensively to not defend.

35: Demetri McCamey, 6’3 204, PG, Illinois, Sr.

A player who is known to put up very strong performances for stretches, and then follow them up for even longer stretches of inconsistency and struggle, the talented Demetri McCamey is an interesting guy to follow. Seems to let off-court distractions and people gassing his head get to him too easily. Had some well-publicized problems with Coach Bruce Weber at Illinois over his career. Physically, McCamey is a big guard who has had some trouble with his weight and conditioning over his career. Plays better and more explosive when he’s around 195-205 (like most of the non-conference slate), than the 215-220 he often played at. He’s a strong bodied player with adequate length and very nice height for a PG. Capable of playing some SG in small lineups. McCamey’s athleticism depends on if he’s in shape. When he’s 195 like at the beginning of the year, he’s got solid quickness and adequate leaping ability and explosiveness. When he’s not, like in his Jr year and in the last 24 games of his Senior year, McCamey is below average for NBA standards at all facets of athleticism.

On offense, McCamey is a good talent. As a shooter, he’s pretty good and shot at an elite rate from 3 as a Sr. (45%). He’s comfortable in his own skin, and shoots with plenty of confidence. His form and release are both compact and quick, and his touch and range are impressive as well. Can shoot off the bounce just as well as he can spotting up, and has range past the 3-point line off the bounce too. Heavily reliant on his shot, as he doesn’t have the athleticism His shooting will be important for him in the future; particularly his pull-up jumper from mid-range, which also good. Doesn’t utilize runners and floaters very often for a guy who struggles to get all the way to the rim, which will probably have to change since he lacks the athleticism to finish at the rim much against athletic frontlines. As a slasher, McCamey is a mixed bag. Even when he’s playing at his most effective playing weight, he’s still generally not explosive enough to get all the way to the rim consistently. He does have the handle and wiggle to free himself to create himself for pull-up jumpers. Occasionally overwhelms his matchup with his strength and handle enough to get to the rim. When out of shape he struggles getting to the rim so much that he’ll just settles repeatedly for jumpers off the bounce. Is a very good pick and roll player. It helps him create space as he generally doesn’t have the 1st step to beat guys with a pure 1st step. Knocks down shots when guys dive his screens. Shows nice floor vision and ability to decide when to shoot and score in most cases in the picking game. As a PG, McCamey is a solid passer and shows a nice feel for the game and good floor vision. Plays the game at his own pace. Willing to make basic passes, but still has flash about him. Not a particularly turnover prone play maker for others really. Sometimes does get selfish and will waste possessions as a scorer, taking bad shots. Capable of playing some SG. Has shown flashes of a post game, which will only get better and likely will translate for him as a big guard. Really dominate against small guards.

On D, McCamey will probably be average in the NBA just as he was in college. He lacks the lateral quickness to defend explosive guys on-ball consistently. His strength and OK length will help him, as well his big frame too though. Will likely need to play on a team that plays sound team D to be at his best, but he does show some effort and fundamentals, and that has always held true for him in college even if he’s been overweight.

McCamey is a talented guard, clearly. He has trouble maintaining his weight though, which brings legit questions about his work ethic, and his attitude is also a concern considering his body language and spats with Coach Weber in college. As a player he’s skilled and plays a below the rim game that’s similar to Andre Miller. He lacks athleticism, sure, but if he puts in his mind that he’ll stay in shape and play at 195-205 consistently, he’ll be a starting-caliber PG. I have no doubts. If he doesn’t, well, he will be like a Marcus Williams from UConn-type who has nice game and PG skills but is just too slugglish.

I can’t believe you have these 2 guys ranked so highly, McCamey is at BEST a mid 2nd round pick although I do like Bojan, I see him as a high to mid 2nd rounder as well

Finally one I disagree with, I’m not big on Mccamey, but he did have a pretty impressive bench press performance right, lol

He didn’t bench due to injury.

"Arizona’s Derrick Williams and Richmond’s Justin Harper tested as the strongest athletes in the camp. Both players bench pressed a 185-pound bar 19 times. Shumpert and Shelvin Mack were next with 18 reps. Four players — Jereme Richmond, Tyler Honeycutt, E’Twaun Moore and Demetri McCamey — couldn’t lift the bar even one time."

I was under the impression that he could lift the bar from this paragraph of Chad Ford’s combine result blog. I guess I was mistaken

McCamey might be a sleeper and surprise alot of people..Simply becuz at Illinois they play a motion offense where everyone touches the ball and the point guard doesnt control the offense all the time…He has a nice post game for a point guard,a decent shooter. But i heard 1 scout said that his lack of maturity might hurt him more than his lack of athleticism…I still wouldnt be surprised if he goes in the late 1st round….

Those comparisions to Andre Miller are right on the money….

he don’t come close to the talent of Andre Miller, more like Derek Fisher or Anthony Johnson
