sammybuckeye13ParticipantAs a Jazz fan, I can only say that I’m incredibly excited. Went into this off-season feeling that really the best-case scenario might have been re-signing Korver and Wesley Matthews. Now this! Jefferson is just entering his prime. He will force with Millsap and Okur one of the most dangerous, powerful and dynamic front courts in the league. Here’s a snippet of how he compares to Boozer:
Over the last 3 seasons:
PPG:
Jefferson: 20.1
Boozer: 19.5Rebounds:
Boozer: 10.7
Jefferson: 10.4Blocks:
Jefferson: 1.4
Boozer: 0.4 (lol)Games played
Jefferson: 208
Boozer: 196Age:
Jefferson: 25
Boozer: 29Salary:
Jefferson: 3 years/$42 million
Boozer: 5 years/$76 millionThe Jazz have some very talented wings in Hayward, Miles (14.4 ppg in playoffs, 5 seasons still just 23) and Kirilenko (who is also a juicy $17.8 million expiring contract). If they can add another wing, maybe an explosive one (Shannon Brown????) I say they’re a contender.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantDo you have a link, good sir?

llperezi just saw on twitter some source from utah said a move was made that was very big and he couldnt wait to divulge it. At first i just thought they kept mathews but now that i think about it, that doesnt seem like very big news. So is it Jefferson?

bobforteParticipantyeah he couldnt comment but its thought to be jefferson. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700047695/Jazz-trade-for-Al-Jefferson.html

Toronto16ParticipantWow. NBA needs to do something about these salary dump trades.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:00pm #352988

CodySLCParticipantThis would be beautiful. He’s a lot younger and a much better shot blocker than Boozer was.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:02pm #352989

GodfatherParticipantInjuries.
I still like Al Jeff more. This is good for Utah. A little younger, and a guy who put up those numbers while Kevin Love was taking points and rebounds away from him. Also, Boozer put those numbers up with Deron, and Al Jeff put those numbers up with a rookie point guard and Ramon Sessions. Give Boozer a scoring point guard and give Al Jeff a pg who can run the floor and consistently put up double digit assists, this is a flippin STEAL for Utah.
Love mah boy Gordon. He loves the game

llperezwell this changes my stance on utah this coming season. Also glad to see KLove get the opportunity to battle beasley for the starting pf spot casue im pretty confident he’ll win that battle. Anyone know what utah is giving up becasue i think minnesota would have to be insane to get rid of jefferson strictly for salary reasons.

Hoops MaestroParticipantAl Jefferson is a good pickup, and better than Boozer if he can stay healthy, but I don’t think he puts the Jazz over the top… maybe one step closer.

NorthernLights666ParticipantThey’re talking about it on MN’s AM Radio station, KFAN, it will be their TPE from the Boozer sign and trade to Chicago, Gordon Hayward, and two first round picks.

bobforteParticipantFirst good move for the jazz and second i think if the twolves can get a 1st rounder this is a good trade to me for both teams. Because with all the young players the twovles have and with love and jefferson being so similar they needed to do something. This helps with cap and the growth of their young players. I will have to see the details tomarrow but i might actually approve of something kahn has done.

CodySLCParticipantI dont think they would trade Hayward without letting him play first.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:13pm #353006
McWinningParticipantI guess Hayward is a small forward so Minny wants him.
they already have Brewer, Webster, Johnson, Beasley, why not add another?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:17pm #353012

llperezwho’s saying gordan hayward is involved? ANyways, if this happens for scraps, then i have to scratch my head at the rest the league. Teams should be stepping up with offers to get jefferson left and right.

butidonthavemoneyI do not like this. Not one bittzies.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:32pm #353027

MagikKnickParticipantmoney, what do you not like about Jefferson?
Im not saying hes all-that-good, but seems like a more than solid replacement for Boozer
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:40pm #353036
stanford hoopslove wont have to battle beasley..from what i read they are gonna play beasley at the 3
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:45pm #353040
kaceyParticipantThe Mavericks have to step up their offer and get Jefferson. If they get him they will be looking pretty good.
Same goes for the Jazz if they pull this off.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:45pm #353041
stanford hoopsim guessing ak and his expiring contract is involved
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:46pm #353042

JNixonParticipantI wonder how much Sloan will like Jefferson, who’s probably more of a pure talent than Boozer is, but not as hard-working on D. Sloan doesn’t really like guys who play the type of D that Jefferson does. He’s got the talent to be a more than adequate replacement for Boozer, but I question whether Sloan would like him. He’s not a classic Sloan player.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:47pm #353043

llperezi doubt ak is involved, the jazz had a trade exception for 14 million and they could take back jefferson without giving up anyone. And im sure the wolves would rather take back no one then ak and his 17 mill.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 6:49pm #353045
stanford hoopsoh they got a trade exception…didnt know that
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 7:40pm #353068

butidonthavemoneyWhat does he fix for the Jazz?
Is he a good defender? No.
Is he a great shot-blocker? No.
On top of everything, he didn’t crack 50% shooting from the field, he has a low basketball IQ and he isn’t a good free throw shooter.
He doesn’t fit the system, he doesn’t solve any of our problems and he would only contribute to our payroll problems.
Why would we trade for him? He can score down low and rebound. What else? He’s not a team player and he has never been a winner.
Boozer, Korver, Matthews/Hayward and draft picks for Jefferson does NOT make us a better team.
Stupid, stupid trade. Stupid. I hate this. The Jazz suck.
On the other hand, I love this for the Timberwolves. They finally lose Jefferson. Too bad I’m not a T’Wolves fan.
Stupid.

Raef LaFrentzParticipantI’m a Wolves fan. A great big one (go ahead and laugh). Life for me has been hard the past few years. 🙁
I won’t believe any trade rumors until I see it finalized.
But seriously, Kahn is picking up SF’s like they are a priceless commodity.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 8:33pm #353099
NarcParticipantI have no idea what runs through David Khan’s head. Last year he had to sign ever guard that he saw, now he’s forward crazy. Logistically speaking, you guys will rack up on centers next.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 8:42pm #353102

BasketBalAllanParticipantI think the only way Kahn can save his job at this point is if somehow the Wolves manage to improve at least by ten games this year, or if somehow he puts together some massive crazy trade that magically fixes all the Wolves’ positional overloads and lands them someone very valuable.

dahoodrecruiterParticipantif this move happens….sloan will have him working hard and playing with ah top notch allstar caliber pg can only help his game …..
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/12/2010 - 10:51pm #353125

butidonthavemoneyThat’s a nice, positive attitude. I’m much more pessimistic on the subject…
I just hope that the trade never materializes…
