i’m jus so offendedParticipantVideo came to my attention on Reddit. I don’t know how to embed from an iPad so here is the link to an 11 minute video of James Harden playing the most lazy, uninterested defense I’ve ever seen. Especially from an All Star caliber player. Does he even watch game film? Is he capable of learning and correcting mistakes? Does McHale even care? Almost unbearable to watch. Anyways, it’s worth checking out a few minutes of this garbage: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wVYJULACcao

OhCanada-ParticipantWow that defence wouldnt be acceptable in an allstar game. Maybe I need to watch more Rockets games before making this assumption but this is likely being blown out of proportion. I remember Harden being a good defender with OKC. He likely just takes a couple plays off per game when he is gased.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantNaw man. That’s not acceptable. I saw him lose Matthews on a back cut last night. If he is more aware in that situation and probably others, that game doesn’t go to overtime. Rockets win. A mental lapse or lack of effort on one play can be the difference.

3 No Biases 3ParticipantI’m sure you could find lapses like this for almost every NBA player if you wanted. He may take the cake as the worst though…smh

i’m jus so offendedParticipantAgreed but not to this degree. I bet Paul George and Lebrons low lights would not even come close to this.

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantI thought the same thing! A man as athletic and strong as Harden should NOT be allowing the century-old Ray Allen and Luke friggin Babbitt score on him so easily. Pathetic…

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantI hope I am not the only one that laughed. How is he considered the best 2 guard when he cant defend my grandfather?

For_Never_EverParticipantOne thing about him on defense is he always has his arms down by his body.

imAboutDatActionParticipantanybody notice the gameplan early on for portland yesterday?
" go right at Harden every possesion"
thats what i’d honestly do every play. he obviously doesnt care for defense and puts him at a higher risk of collecting fouls.

Land of GrantParticipantI really don’t like watching Harden. Ugly drives, bailout fouls, terrible defense. He’s a good playmaker but I’d rather have Klay Thompson or Arron Afflalo on my team. The other thing is, he can’t play off-ball. The only time he’s an asset to his team is when he has the ball.

imAboutDatActionParticipantlisten, he has serious flaws on the defensive end..but everybody would take Harden over Thompson and Afflalo.

Land of GrantParticipantNo! Those guys are cheaper, better shooters, and can score with and without the ball, as well as being very good defenders, especially Thompson, who is one of the top perimeter defenders in the NBA. He locked down CP3 in game 1, Paul was 8-23.
Okay, I’d take Harden over Afflalo, but not Thompson. Harden has the star rep that Klay doesn’t but I don’t consider a player who mails in 50% of the game a star.
How bout this analogy – Harden is a 10/10 offensive player, but a 1/10 defensive player. That’s 11/20. Klay is an 8/10 offensive player, and a 9/10 defensive player. That’s 17/20.
17/20 > 11/20.

ericpalmer4ParticipantThe worst part to me is how many of these clips came from the fourth quarter of a tight game.
Also, I wonder how many times his lack of effort on D put Dwight in early foul trouble…

CynthiaParticipantThis is absurd! I haven’t watched him much since he left OKC. It’s almost like the stardom has got to his head and he just doesn’t care about defense at all and is only focused on points.
It kind of makes you wonder if having his 25 PPG is worth giving up 25 PPG?
According to basketball reference he’s ranked 252 in defensive efficiency…
