I think that if Stephen Jackson slows down next year or wears out his welcome as he’s been known to do, they could be in trouble. They have a heavy reliance on him and he’s their only truly great scorer. Remember how much trouble Charlotte had at the beginning of the year scoring the ball?? 1.You have zero star potential in any of your young players
2. youve got two overpaid past their prime players in tayshaun prince and rip hamilton who by the way will still be under contract the next couple of years.
3.Then Joey D goes and picks up 2 overrated bench players who dont play D but are getting paid the big bucks still in Charlie V and Ben Gordon
4. All this makes your team suck @$$ but not enough so that you can get a top 3 pick

The pistons as far as im concerned have no hope for any shot of respectability in the East for at least 5 years. Joe Dumars spent all of the free cap space the AI trade was supposed to bring on 2 guys who dont make a b ig impact for an nba team and who cant stay healthy. Maybe if the team didnt blow tremendously it would make just a little bit of sense but now were gonna be sitting at home come playoff time and there will be no money to improve the team in the biggest free agency summer ever. The only positive things for Detroit is Jonas Jerebko and Rodney Stuckey but even they dont have all star potential. Im gonna have to pray they lose some more games so they get lucky and get a higher draft spot and hopefully get rid of Rip and Tay (as sad as it sounds) for some young potential or expiring contacts.

They have a decent team right now, but it won’t compete with top teams in east, and doesn’t have players to build a championship contender around. They are years away from contending barring a big trade. They are a decent team right now though, not in the worst position.

Bobcats are not in that bad of a deal. When Chandler gets healthy he should be pretty solid and his deal is up next year. They dont really have to many terrible deal except for Diaws and mohummeds and they are both up i think after next year. Tyrus Thomas will be kept for cheap. Felton will get an increase but not a huge amount. They have a young asset in Augustine and Henderson. They just need to draft better and hopefully devin Brown develops. I can think of a lot of team in worst shape than Charlotte. Minny with all their talent is in disarray and their gm does not seem like he has a clue. Detroit has no direction and overpaid guys. Indiana can not get wins for the talent they have and their Gm trades their athletic guys for unathletic guys and drafts players that are not that athletic all the time.

Minny ain’t in disarray. We are in the early stages of building. It’s not like this is a sudden downfall. I love what Kahn is doing. He knows weren’t not gonna be winning right now regardless so he is getting as many “assets” as he can. Then, when we are a better team we can move some guys for players who fit our needs. Rubio is still going to be in demand. Jonny is playing fairly well for a rookie on a team lacking talent. I will admit passing on Curry was a mistake, but I think Jonny will be a capable scorer and high energy guy who the locker room loves. I guarantee you we will be in the running for Rudy Gay, he’s a perfect fit. Then I have no problem with either keeping or trading (if the price is right) Big Al. He got a steal in Hollins. I think the future is looking decent in Minny.

If you look at the roster and past history the Bobcats are in trouble until players start coming off the books. Their draft history is horrible nobody has really panned out to what they expected that’s why they are in trouble now. May, Okafor (decent), Augustine, and Anjilicia (sp). Henderson is possible but he is only a rookie. Then when rookies don’t pan out you’re forced to make desperate deals that may comprise your salary cap because you want to compete. With Jordan making he decisions now even more they are doomed unless they get someone to help him better evaluate. So unless they do better at drafting and getting better players they’re in trouble. I read today they were interested in signing Larry Hughes but his finger is messed up. So they must have something to sign someone.

Look Minny is in a good spot potentially but they had a draft where they had 4 first round picks and they screwed it up. Minny has trouble getting free agents and they had a chance to add 3 or more solid pieces and they screwed that up and still have no idea if Love and Jefferson can play together and they also signed Sessions and really dont use him that much cept spot minutes. They will probably never get Rubio. If that is not dissarray then what is. New Orleans picked two players better than anything Minny has right now and they picked after Minny on both picks. Minny drafted the same positions and did not wind up with anyone overly special. Flynn is solid but you have most of the point guard in this past draft playing better than him not to mention Rubio who is not playing could be ahead of him. They still have huge holes and unless Kahn does something big this draft sorry i am writing him out.

I think Kahn is gonna do big things this year. Last year was the PG draft. He loaded up. This year with the exception of Wall, the PG class is very weak. Teams like the Pacers, Miami, Detroit, Phoenix, Memphis, New York…etc. could all be in the market for a PG next season. Minnesota is not gonna keep all of them after this season. I def. see Sessions leaving, possibly Rubio. I think Flynn will end up staying as he has shown thus far to be more of a scoring PG than a distributor. If Rubio is willing to come to Minny, I think that will change alot of this situation. Kahn really likes him and he would be a very nice fit in the triangle offense, especially if he develops a 3 point J. And unless Kahn sees Big Al as the Bynum to our offense, I think he will be gone as well. He is trying to assemble a triangle offense which requires players with high awareness of the activity on the court on the offensive end. Here’s his plan IMO in constructing a similar O to the Lakers… And I know guys like Evan Turner aren’t kobe, I’m just saying who they could possibly play a similar role too. I also really think Gay is destined for Minny because of our cap room and Kahn’s love for this guy.

The Bobcats aren’t in THAT bad of shape. They’re currently over the cap, but NOT over the luxury tax threshold… So they won’t have to pay any luxury tax this season.

Chances are that Chanlder ($12,600,000) and Mohammed ($6,883,800) won’t terminate their contracts and become free-agents this summer, but they could be traded as expiring contracts next season. They’ll also go into the summer over the cap, so they’ll be able to use the MLE.

It’ll be intersting to see what Jordan does to better the team though. He has a decision to make on Tyrus Thomas who’s been playing very well since the trade.

I don’t think they’re going to give Thomas the qualifying offer. Like you said… I just don’t see another team signing him to a significant offer sheet. MJ will let him become a restricted free-agent and then re-sign him for cheap.

The Clippers do have a bad history, but they aren’t in bad shape heading into this summer or next season.

1. Cap Money – Depending on the cap, they could have enough for a max deal player. They’re not an ideal place for free-agents, so it’s unlikely they sign a max deal guy (They’ll pitch to LeBron hard), but… They’ll have enough money to build a solid team.

2. Roster – Good mix of youth and vets. Everybody knows about BD, Kaman, Griffin (He WILL be healthy next season), Gordon, etc… Craig Smith is a solid power forward and Rasual Butler is a solid off guard/small forward. DeAndre Jordan has actually been playing well as of late… He should be a consistent rotation player next season. IF they re-sign Outlaw, Blake and Gooden… They should be a solid team next season.

3. Lottery Pick in upcoming NBA Draft – They should be able to get a solid player.

4. Head Coach – I like Kim Hughes, but he won’t be the head coach next season. They’ll have the opportunity to bring in a new head coach.

You can knock them for their history, but you can’t say this team is in bad shape. They’re in good shape actually. They just have to do something with it.

the same thing is said about the clippers all the time.. “this year or this summer could be different because of this that this that”. yet another topic that was talked about on one of the nba shows. they were asking whens the last big free agane tthat wanted to and signed for the clippers. no one could remeber then they said baron davis.. they forgot about him. the fact is no one whos somebody wants to play there. i dont really seeing that change. the best bet is to build from within and get to the poitn where they are pretty good and peopel will start to want to come there. just like some say peopel wanna go to the knicks because of there history people dont wanna go to the clippers because of there history

Even if they don’t sign a superstar, I think that’s a solid roster… Starters and bench. That’s without whoever they pick in the lottery too.

Their history does count against them, but I think they’re in good position to turn the corner. The best position they’ve been in in awhile. They’ve drafted well the last few seasons and have made some good roster moves. Decent roster, money, young players and a new head coach. You can’t ask for anything more heading into a season. Like I said… They just have to do something with it.

With the right coach and the players staying healthy… That’s a potential playoff team that could battle for the 6th-8th playoff seed. Even if they don’t make the playoffs, they should be significantly better… At least a 40-45 win team.

I may be in the minority, but I think Blake Griffin is going to change the culture of the Clippers. I’m not saying he’s going to be as big as LeBron James, but before LeBron got drafted to Cleveland… Free-agents didn’t want to play there and the team was garbage. I think Griffin has the game and personality to have an impact similar to that.
