aamir543ParticipantI was just looking at the stats, and he is averaging 3 points a game in 14 minutes a game, but the worst part is that he is shooting 28% from the field, including 27% from three. He is as slow as a turtle, doesn’t run the offense well, and can’t even shoot anymore. I am usually a fan of having a witty vet off the bench, but not when he is shooting under 30% from the field, and his job is to shoot. If he’s there to be a locker room presence, than fine, but if not, wouldn’t it be bettr if they gave say a David Lighty a chance? I know Bibby is a tested NBA veteran, but he’s not even close to any seblance of being productive and he continues to shoot. Hopefully he’ll start hitting shots, but I’d much rather have Douglas and Shumpert running around like Chickens with their heads cut off than Bibby bricking shot after shot.

BlazermannParticipantSimply put my friend the answer is No!

db24kb24ParticipantHe is a slow, streaky shooter. They don’t need him in the locker room and Baron will push and mentor Lin. He shouldn’t be in the League IMO.

JNixonParticipantNo he’s not. He sucks now.

zruc57ParticipantI agree that Bibby should probably be cut. Quite simply dude blows.
But the funniest part about this you saying Baron Davis should mentor Lin. hahahaha.
Baron Davis will be one of the worst mentors in history. What is he going to teach Lin- How to mail in games? How to only care part of the time? How to shoot terrible shots and never live up to your potentiona? How to eat you way out of playing shape? How to eat Mcdonalds and start making movies?
I hope you are kidding man. Asking Baron Davis to be a mentor is like asking Gilbert to give a talk on gun safety.

M-EazyParticipantStill tryna figure out why we picked him up this summer…would’ve been nice to pick up some defense or size. Cut him and Douglas they aren’t needed!

river09Participantlol "No he’s not. He sucks now" sad but true. Personally I would much rather give a young player a chance to earn more time instead of giving Bibby 14 minutes a game..

scbe2223ParticipantI think Douglas has at least a little trade value. Dude needs a change of scenery or something. Bibby on the other hand needs to move into management or real estate or something, he’s done.

WizardofOzParticipantAnyone who’s watched him the last two years knows this shouldn’t even be a question.

Wavy BagelsParticipantVerne Troyer.
That is all.

Baron see’s the game as a true point guard, which is why everyone WAS waiting on him. He played at an elite level and could’ve easily given Lin nuances to grow with.
Disrespecting a legend…smh
If you had knowledge of Baron’s career you would know that injuries plagued him ever since his UCLA days. How many greats do you know that have came back from an ACL tear? No, no, no, ask T-Mac how his back injury has hurt his career, Baron also has a herniated disc.
Mail in games? for who the Hornets? Is Deron Williams not doing the same thing in NJ? Sure he plays when he’s on National TV but how many subpar games have you seen from him. When your in losing enviornments it becomes contagious. Baron led GS to the playoffs, he put the team on his now, herniated disc.
Shooting terrible shots? Stacey Augmon, P.J. Brown, Jamaal Magloire, Mashburn, Robert Traylor(02-03 Hornets)Who TF is he going to pass to?
The younger generation missed a great pg…smh

JaeEvolutionParticipantVery worthy, just one year ago he was starting over Jeff Teague.

Mr. 19134ParticipantYeah Baron Davis was a monster for the Hornets I’ll never forget him giving KG that facial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3bBvcJWcdU He gave a lot of dudes facials that year…Pause…but I couldn’t get over comparing Westbrook in the draft to a young Baron Davis people thought I was crazy, smh, they just didn’t know.
But with that said I don’t know if I’d want him mentoring a young PG, I thought that was funny when people said he would do it in Cleveland with Kid Kyrie, well the Cavs had enough sense to realize that was a bad idea and cut him and Irving looks great.
And yes Bibby certainly deserves a roster spot for one reason, when they play the Lakers whose gonna guard Derek Fisher is you cut Bibby?

juves4783Participantthe knicks should know the best that a relatively unknown player can blossom into a superstar. you know what you are getting with bibby. ship him out and cross your fingers for another jeremy lin.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think they should drop Bibby and maybe trade Douglas for a veteran point guard. Also Antonio Daniels may still have something left in the tank. Suns may cut Telfair and maybe he comes to New York. When Brooks comes back Suns will have 4 point guards.

PabloFiascoParticipantHe should’ve retired last year after the Hawks traded him, Wizards bought out his contract, and the Heat didn’t resign him.

MalcolmxParticipantHe has Leadership qualites. Most teams need that one old guy that was Real good at a time. But now all they can do is play 10 minutes and cheer for the young guys and show them the in and outs of the league

TallmanNYCParticipantProbably no need to rock the boat right now, especially if B. Davis isn’t available and Douglas has been so bad. But no, Bibby shouldn’t be in the league as far as playing ability goes. The Knicks waisted their money signing Bibby for more than a million dollars. But that is just money. The criminal thing is that they were going to cut JLin while keeping Bibby. You can’t tell me that JLin wasn’t lighting Bibby up in practice everyday.
Why did it take so long to give JLin 20 minutes a game? One theory I read recently is that coaches hate to be second guessed, so they tend to play the known player over the younger less known player. D’Antonio was probably guilty of that before Linsanity.
I suspect this is going to be an eye openner for the league and for personel decisions. I’ve been saying all year that a lot of teams would be better off giving a D-Leaguer a chance than paying big money for a bad veteran player.
