Guy has had some big games. For someone that was out of the league all together is he showing game to stay in the league and have a job next season? 45% from the floor but its the 46% from 3 that’s getting me. We all knew he could drop dimes coming out of school. It was the shooting that needed help.

yes, he is a player, some of us said that when he was coming out of college.  he was never a bad shooter.  that was so overstated.  I presented arguments here when he was still in college to support that he was a decent shooter.  he has a good set shot.  he just cant shoot off the dribble from deep.  also people keep underrating his passing ability saying that he had a lot of talent at UNC.  you dont drop double digit assists game after game in the NBA without superior vision and passing ability.  the kid was throwing full court chest passes when he was 8 years old.  the only question I ever had about him was defense.  if he was going to be a serious liability.

He should be the PG of the future for the lakers, and he won’t cost too much money. He”s racking up assist with crappy team mates now, imagine what he will do with kobe and another max players.

     Showing? No. He has shown.

He’s 3rd in the league in 3 point percentage, and 2nd in assists per game ( if he "qualified" which he will be by the end of the year ).

Which is EXACTLY why the NBA needs a REAL minor league.  There are so many injuries lately, even the guys who were supposed to come back from injuries like Rose, Westbrook, and Kobe got reinjured again.  A team like San Antonio has guys in the NBDL playing in their system and they are able to come up and contribute but guys like K Marshall should not be free agents trying to get someone to notice them in the D-League.  Guys like DJ Augustin of the Bulls shouldn’t be without a team and then coming in and contributing.  This guy obviously has talent, but because the new CBA is just crippling with penalties teams have to make stupid decisions regarding certain guys who are just not ready, or in the wrong situation, etc.  But there are teams like the Bulls, who should be playing some younger players and allowing them to develop, who instead choose to resign Mike James to a 10-day contract because Thibs’ system is too hard to learn and he therefore does not trust younger players.  If the Bulls had a team in Naperville, IL (larger suburban city of Chicago for those of you who don’t know) in the NBDL playing Thibs’s system they could have guys who can fill in and go up, and then down, etc.  Marquis Teague could have actually improved instead of becoming worthless to Chicago (who did him a favor by shipping him to Brooklyn, IMHO) because even when he WAS sent down to the D-League he wasn’t learning what Thibs would have wanted him to learn.  It would also make the draft more interesting, we could probably have like 3 1/2 rounds (like baseball there could be a round in-between 2 and 3 for teams who lost big name free agents or had a lot of injury exceptions or something) and the league would have a higher quality of play.  There could be a couple of league owned teams for players like Glen Rice Jr. to play on and I honestly think they could be self sustaining.  If a team like the LA Lakers, probably THE premiere franchise of the NBA, have 5 guys who played PG for them go down in a month and a half they shouldn’t be gambling on someone to learn their system on the fly from off the street.

Rant over, sorry I got a bit carried away as usual.

I’ve always been a fan of Marshall, and I thought he could play in the league. In my opinion, he’s fun to watch. I’m a fan of point guards who would rather rack up assists than points. His court vision is impressive, and If I were the Lakers, I would make him my point for the future.

Kendall is a baller.  For some reason things didn’t work out in Phoenix.  He was sent to Washington and immediately sent down to the D League.  Sometimes all a guy needs is an opportunity and Marshall got his in LA.  He is most definitely the PG of the future in Tinseltown.  Whenever Kobe comes back he’ll love playing with this guy because Kendall will get Kobe tons of easy buckets.

Kendall Marshall isn’t the reason the Lakers are losing. In fact, he’s probably the only reason they were in the game at all last night against the Thunder. I’m a Celtics fan(dislike the Lakers), but if you had a healthy Kobe, Gasol, and Nick Young to the line-up with Marshall, they will upset a lot of teams.

…did you guys see the sweet assist he should have had but Shawne Williams missed a dunk?  The announcing crew just couldn’t figure out that the ball didn’t go in and kept saying it was a nice finish, but Durant just grabbed the ball and went upcourt with it.  I was laughing because even after the replay they were saying, "sweet pass and a nice finish" but the Lakers were still stuck on 5 points.  What a weird play, the ball just went straight down as if it went in but didn’t.

I just don’t understand how so many teams missed on this guy…  he already has a well known name, drafted 10th overall, looked good in the D-League…  why did it take a team having 4 injuries at point guard for him to get a chance?  I know plenty of teams with bad back up point guards.

I’m really starting to like Kendall Marshall. His main weakness coming out was his shooting, but now it’s turned into one of his strengths. He’s always had an elite skill with passing, and now that he isn’t getting the old Rondo back off treatment he has way more driving and passing lanes. You always gotta like guys that can get everyone involved, and get the whole offense moving.

I like the way he has performed, but we have to reserve our judgment on his shooting ability until the end of the year IMO. He’s making threes at a torrid pace right now and I’ve noticed that some of his defenders dare him to shoot as well.

He still struggles a bit on defense due to his severe lack of foot speed, and likely always will, but he has proved that he is a legit NBA PG and a likely starter. He is certainly outperforming a player like Ricky Rubio who has both superior teammates and more "hype" coming in to the season.

I have to admit Marshall has definitely outdone any expectations I ever had for him.

However, with that being said I think some context is needed.

It isn’t unheard of for a young guy who was toiling at the end of rosters to suddenly end up on a really bad team and flourish. Look at that roster, my god is it awful. And yes, he has absolutely been efficient and effective while he’s been in there, I just don’t know if it means anything long term because hes playing on a glorified D League team.

Phoenix and Washington giving up on a second year elite playmaker shows why they’re…

    Phoenix and Washington.

Kendall Marshall excels at the most important aspect of playing the position.
