tuck243ParticipantI understand the pressure of improving your team, especially when you have money to do it, but to go out and get players you don’t need is ridiculous. Now the word on the street (actually ESPN, LOL) is they’re targeting Paul Milsap. To me this is dumb because you’re about to pay a player 8 million to come off the bench? Smart. You got a gift from the basketball gods in NOT signing Turk and now you willing to throw it away again on players you don’t need. I love Kevin Pritchard, I think he and Mitch in LA have become 2 of the greatest GM’s in the NBA, but he’s starting to behave like an idiot (Can we say up n coming Joe Dumars, well maybe not that bad). OKC is starting to look like what the Blazers should’ve been. Playing “YOUNG” players and giving them time to grow with one another. The Blazers have the keys to a winning team, but still a couple years from reaching it. In the mean time save your money and spend it on the players in your Org who deserves it. Pateince is the key and they are starting to make me believe they aren’t willing to use it (anymore)…

gatorheelsParticipantI agree…signing Hedo was going to be a mistake…the same goes for Milsap. If they spend money they might as well spend it on a legit PG.

birdman113Sessions. or Marvin Williams is who they should get.

cashmherecfParticipantI agree they need to use their money on a PG not Milsap or Turk. ESPN also says that they are targeting Kurt Hinrich in a three team trade which would send Boozer to Chicago, Tyrus Thomas to Utah, and Kurt Hinrich to Utah

xbadgerhustlerParticipantI think that Jerryd Bayless is going to be the perfect complement to Brandon Roy next year… sometimes you have to count on the growth of your players instead of trying to ADD more chaos to the mess… I agree with you Tuck. Especially when your team is as young as the Blazers. They still have a lot of room to grow.
The Blazers don’t need a TRUE PG because BRoy can do most of what a TRUE PG needs to do. Bayless’ strength is attacking the basket and being a slasher, and not necessarily being a TRUE PG. If his outside shot is on point this season, the blazers would be hard to stop.
I think the same goes for RW out in OKC, and that’s why I liked the addition of James Harden, cuz as so many ppl are pointing out RW isn’t really a TRUE PG. nonetheless, he’s a great player with the ball in his hands. Harden does a lot of BRoy does, although we’ll have to give him some time before we have say he’s close to BRoy, who i think is an absolute beast.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantRumors have it they are offering Milsap a lot of money forcing Jazz to resign him and trading Boozer in the 3 way trade so they could get Hinrich.

aarondsonixfanParticipantyeah basically the blazers are going to have either one or the other.. I really think they should get millsap instead of Kirk because they haven’t even given Bayless a chance. I think that Bayless can be a SOLID player in the league when given the chance

maravich44ParticipantSounds like Bulls deal is off, according to ESPN Insider anyway. Article also said since they failed to get Hedo, they feel they need to do something to appease fans. I find that hard to believe. No legit GM should care about fan opinion unless it means whether a fan will buy tickets. Let me clarify that. If half the stadium is empty, team won’t make money, so they can’t do anything to tick off entire fanbase. However, if a GM listens too much to fans on plyer evaluation etc., he will soon be an ex-GM.

doubledribblerParticipantIt seems that everyone so far agrees that they are doing too much. Right now I think they have a ridiculous amount of talent that they just need to develop. They have some really good players stashed overseas as well. I think the fans will be patient enough. They went through the whole “Jailblazers” thing and are now in a good spot.
I think that if they don’t have a player in mind that is going to help build what they have that they do not need to make any moves. Save your money for when you need to spend it. Signing Milsap isn’t a horrible idea, until you have the fact that he won’t start. If he did start, then that is at the expense of Oden in my opinion, because Aldridge would have to go to center and Pryzbilla is already better than Oden. I am not an Oden fan. I always thought they should have gotten Durant. They would be amazing with him and Roy, but since they got Oden they need to get the guy playing time and see what happens with him because they passed up on a lot of other talent to get him.
I also think Bayless needs a chance to play. I didn’t like him sitting last year, but I can accept it because that is how it goes sometimes with Rookies, especially the ones on good teams. To xbadgerhustler, I agree with you on Roy being able to handle the ball well enough. I have been saying for awhile not only would that benifit Bayless and his scoring, but it would be great to occasionally get Rudy some more time by moving Roy to point guard. The championship Bulls, the recent Lakers and the recent Spurs teams have all been playing/played with non-traditional point guards (i.e., Steve Kerr, John Paxson, BJ Armstrong, Derek Fisher, Ron Harper, Tony Parker.) because they have Ball handlers at other positions.
I honestly think that Pritchard may be overrated now. He has done an excellent job of assembling the talent, but I think he is going to find a way to screw it up. The beginning of that was Oden, the most recent case of that was Hedo. Thank the Raptors for your mulligan.

d-grizzlyParticipantthey should give a.miller a 2 year deal.

gatorheelsParticipantAgree….I don’t know why they aren’t trying to sign him. I heard they don’t really like him because he can’t shoot but who cares. He has experience and is an upgrade over Blake. That is something the Blazers need if they are going to go deeper in the playoffs. Miller would help out Portland more than Milsap.

NYK2010ParticipantHow is Marvin Williams the answer for them he is considered a bust becaz Hawks passed on Paul and Williams for him. They needed a pg Blake is near the bottom in the NBA, also GM not banking on Oden staying healthy all year anyway they still need another PF out of Millsap, Lee, Odom, Big Baby. They do have a lot of talent but Oden, Bayless, Batum, Fernandez aren’t proven & no way all turn out to be stars.

knicksfreakParticipantToo bad that the Boozer deal fell through. Hinrich would have been awesome on Portland. That could have been the best backcourt in basketball. Both can shoot, pass, and defend with very high IQ’s. No one could cheat off of either of them.
Portland has alot of pieces but arent quite as stacked as people think.
Oden is slowly looking like a flop.
Bayless isnt getting minutes because he may not fit.
Batum can defend but is still raw offensively.
Rudy is overhyped.
No true PG.
Pryzbilla is a good backup center but he makes too much money.
The only legit starters they have right now are Aldridge and Roy. Both of whom still have to be re-signed to extensions. If the had only drafted Durant. They could’ve had the best 2,3,4 in the NBA.
