Not that you guys on here don’t know this, but the Bulls should only target three players in this summer’s free agent period: LeBron (not gonna happen), Bosh (small possibility), or Wade (best possibility if Miami misses playoffs, especially if the Heat whiff on Stoudamire). That’s if the Bulls want to win a championship in the next 5 years. If their goal is being a Eastern Conference “contender” then they should go after the Boozers, Joe Johnsons and Amares of the world. I was looking at the standings recently and a thought occured that it’s no secret that Chicago has maybe the most attractive roster in the league as far as free agent superstars would be concerned, they will have “max” cap room of course and if they miss the playoffs, they could have a top 12 pick which could be a top 6 pick with some luck. That’s a GREAT situation if you ask me. Imagine Wade or Bosh being courted in Chicago after either missing or getting destroyed in the playoffs and being told: “you can stay where you are right now, or you can compete here for a championship with the league’s most unselfish superstar in Derrick Rose, all-hustle/dirty work first teamer Joakim Noah, and by the way, did you see our lottery pick dominate in the NCAA’s a couple months back? What do you think Wade or Bosh would say to THAT?
    Thoughts?

Bulls can actually luck-up again and get the top pick. The last team to have the worst chance in getting the top pick was Orlando. I’m a Bulls fan and my notion is that they get Gay ( then you’ll have an perimeter of Rose, Gay and Deng) while swapping one of the lottery picks.

The Bucks have the right to swap picks with them this year, however, it is top 10 protected. I really think Wade will stay in Miami and I am not fond of Joe Johnson for 5 years.

If they could get James Anderson or Xavier Henry via draft, then they could focus on Bosh or maybe Boozer.

I don’t see them making the playoffs this year so I think they should just shut Noah down for the season and give Taj some rest. Plus Rose keeps getting banged up going to the hoop!

I think that was their plan, they gave away a lot of their team at the deadline. However they have a bunch of young guys and if they could move up in the draft like they did last time AND get a free agent they will be a very good team very soon.

its never a teams plan to try not to make the playoffs. thats what quitters do. thats what seperates someball players from non players that wish they can ball. now teamsthat suck and are trying to get a lotto pick is a different story. and even then th4 palyers still play to win but the coaches dont coach to win

I’d rather see the Bulls make the playoffs. It’s no guarantee they’ll pick in the top ten. As it was mentioned above, if they fall below ten, the Bucks can swap picks.

I’d rather see Derrick Rose in the playoffs getting that experience, even if they’ll probably get swept by the Cavs.

I’d rather see Rose getting the experience too, but it’s not looking good for them … deng, noah, and rose all not playing right now …. that’s a recipe for playing yourself out of a tight race

The bulls are 6 1/2 games up on the clippers to stay out of the top 10 for the draft but as bad as theyve been playing that might be possible. The bucks would like to thank you for what could be a 7 spot jump in the draft and a 20 ppg player.

Pros and Cons of the Bulls not making the playoffs…

    1. It gives them a chance to get a lottery player for the 2010 Draft but  they have that swap thing with Milwaukee (in which I don’t get it because they got the bad end of the deal in terms of player quality)… But then again, who’s there at the mid first round to choose from? If they can land Xavier Henry, that would be fantastic…

    2. Marketability and additional income because of extensive playoff games for Chicago… Even if they visit the United Center twice in the playoffs, they can still make a profit out of it… NOT TO MENTION, Chicagoans have always been supportive of their sports teams.

    3. Derrick Rose needs to develop more and one way of doing that is through playoffs… If he misses the playoffs, it’s a waste… This is an opportunity for them to develop Rose into a bigger player than just an All-Star… Playoffs brings out the best in every elite player and I think Derrick needs that kind of exposure…

    4. They need someone that can complement Rose in the backcourt… Hinrich has been on and off and it’s been frustrating… They also have not addressed the need in front court (Chris Richard is not the answer)… I wanted them to find a legit 7 footer that knows how to bang and rebound down low… I haven’t seen anyone that fit to that description as of now…

    5. 2010 Free Agency is no guarantee…

I have mixed feelings about their situation… Sure it’s been frustrating to lose games but as a fan, I can do nothing to address their needs…I’m just a guy watching their games and highlights and hope for the best…

I feel what yall are saying about Rose’s experience, but I would trade a first round exit and the “experience” for a player(s) that will get me a championship ANY DAY of the week. I just think it would actually be better long term for Rose’s development if he could get some first rate help now rather than never.

makes no sense to try not to make the playoffs just to get a later draft pick who may or may not contibute much on the team. playoff experience is much more imnportant then you know. and what sense would itmake if teams that knew they werent gonna win started trying to gte in the lotto?..why not teams that know they are gonna lose in the second round?..hey its only one round so why not try to get a lotto pick to help for next year. im glad the players and teams dont see it that way. i would hate to a leauge o fquitters
