 Is cp3 really the best pg in the league or is it that we’ve heard it so much it’s easy to keep saying? I say the best pg in the league as far as what people want from a traditional pg is Rondo hands down. He makes everybody better he plays with, great leader, great rebounder, and a great rebounder. As far as the best pg in the league just on basketball talent alone to me its a tie between rose/westbrook because they bring things to the table that no other point guards can do right now they both have weak spots like all players but the reason I give them the nod over everybody else is out of all the point guards in the league they are the last one that I would want to play against. Who do you think and why?

Yes. I think he is.

He’s the most complete point guard in the league. He does everything Rondo does, without playing with three Hall of Fame guys, plus he’s obviously a better offensive player than Rondo.

I don’t even think it’s close. Rondo played great in the playoffs, but Paul was playing with a pulled groin muscle.

My only problem with Paul is that he sometimes waits to take over games until the 4th quarter.

I’d say he is BUT in today’s NBA with so many good pg’s the title of " Best PG in the NBA" can change from week to week. That’s just how good the pg’s are today. There are litterally 5 Elite, most likely future HOF pg’s in the NBA right now and they are all still in their primes or about to enter their primes. That doesn’t include guys like Jennings, Irving,Rubio,Curry,Wall,Lawson maybe Lin. Then you have Marshall and Lillard coming in .

players once they get knocked out of the playoffs. People forget that D Rose was MVP last year. People forget that Tony Parker was getting consideration for MVP this year. People forget that CP3 was leading a new team w/ a bunch a new players into the 2nd round in his first year w/ the team. Westbrook is a very good pg, but there is no way he is the best pg in the league.

 What makes cp3 the best peoples eyes because he doesnt do anything that makes him great except run the pick and roll every play down court that doesn’t make you great. What does he do to separate himself from the pack?

IF I had to rank my top five point guards heading into next season:

1. Chris Paul – He’s the most complete point guard in the NBA and looks close to 100% from the torn meniscus he suffered awhile ago. He has no holes in his game. No weaknesses as a player.

2. Tony Parker – He’s a score first point guard, but he was probably right behind LeBron and Durant for MVP. He’s playing his best basketball right now and creating more for his teammates than ever. This will continue next season. I still don’t feel he gets enough respect… He’s minus the dunks, but I think he plays a similar style of game to Derrick Rose. I don’t know another point guard in NBA history that’s finished around the rim like him.

3. Russell Westbrook – Why shouldn’t he be here? He gets better every single season and will most likely take another step up heading into next season… Especially after another summer with the Olympic Team. He’ll be a better decision maker all-around next year and could probably take a leap up to #2. There were some people arguing for him to be a MVP candidate this season, despite his flaws.

4. Deron Williams – I still think he’s the 2nd most complete point guard in the NBA. It’s just been out of sight and out of mind. Once he’s on a better team, he’ll probably push himself up to #2 or #3.

5. Rajon Rondo – When he’s at his best, he looks like he’s amongst the best players in the league. His jumper is still poor (went up from piss poor), but he’s an all-around player who makes everyone else better.

*Derrick Rose* – Left him out since he will miss the first 2-3 months to start the season and likely won’t be 100% until the following season.

Paul-2.1 TOs per game. Rondo-3.6 TOs per game. Paul-19.8pts per game. Rondo-11.9pts per game. Paul-37% from three. Rondo-23% from three. Need I say more?

Paul shoots the three ball off of the catch or the dribble. His mid-range game is deadly. He breaks defenders down and gets to the basket with ease… No problem shooting the tear shot over bigs. He has every move in the book when it comes to ball fakes, shot fakes, going off of the wrong foot, etc. He won’t turn it over and you can’t make him pick his dribble up lol.

His defense on the ball is sticky and he’s still always got his hands in the passing lanes. He rebounds. He’s very efficient. He can get out in transition or play in the half-court. Makes a high percentage at the free-throw line.

Not to mention he’s a leader and a killer out there. Like all great players, he’s made some bad plays and missed some shots with the game on the line, but he’s amongst the best clutch players in the league.

He’s the best in the league. No holes.

Rondo is the best pg in the nba hands down, eventhough hes not even in the same class as Rose/ Westbrook athletically, I think he brings alot more to a team (pts, rebs, ASSITS,), plus he has what Cp3, Rose and Westbrook all want, A RING!

The only thing Paul has going against him compared to the other guys is his size at 5’11-6′ and 175lbs.  Other than that skill wise he is the most complete PG in the league.

Yes he makes any team better if you have Chris Paul on your team your going to be a playoff contender, look at how the hornets overachiebed every year with him and last year they took the Lakers to 6 games with David west hurt. This season he led the clippers to their most wins ever despite their being no training camp or chemistry.

Put Rondo on the hornets he would have an impact but the team will struggle for an 8th seed, put cp3 on the Celtics and their championship favorites, Rondo doesn’t make players around him better he just feeds off of them plus he is reckless with the ball(3.6 TO a game), Chris Paul makes everyone better

CP3 is the most complete PG in the league but a healthy Derrick Rose is the most dominant. He gets to the rim and finishes like no other PG I have seen including Russell Westbrook. Rondo is a great player but he does benefit a lot from the talent around him. If Rondo was on the Bulls he would struggle to produce the same kind of assist numbers.

Its Really Depends on what you want from Your PG…
If you want the best passer you go with rondo
If you want the most well rounded PG go with CP3
If you want a true superstar that is the #1 guy of a Franchise D.Rose is your pick…

PG’s can do so much or so little for a team depending on the team so its almost a preference.
can D.Rose take rondo roll and worry about getting his teammates and defense before his role offensively?
Can CP3 get a team of role players and carry that huge offensive weight with no alley oop partner he been blessed with his whole career (young Chandler, now Griffin and Jordan)?

we dont know we can only assume…?

Rondo stats for the NBA finals the year they won it. 9pts 7ast.  I think he might just have had a part in the wins including 21pts 8reb 6ast in the clinching game 6.

I have to agree Paul doesn’t seem to have a weakness but the same can be said for Dwill

I hope Chris Paul returns to the form he had before th e knee injury in 07-09 where he averaged 22 pts, 5 rebs, 11 ast. He was a monster for those 2 years

Just look what he did for the Hornets last year 44 win gave us a scare(Lakers) in the playoffs almost by himself, with a limited roster…Now look at them now picking number 1 in the draft.

 

I always said if he was on the Nets this year they would have made the playoffs…He just have that Jordan and Kobe esque attitude towards winning. You saw it rub off on the Clippers this year.

The Nets would have not made the playoffs with Paul. Dwill will is arguable just as good and he put up a very nice 21ppg and 8ast with good defense and with Lopez being hurt for a nice chunk of the year. The Nets just werent that good. They would have needed 14 more wins to make the playoffs and as good as Paul is, if you substitute Dwill for Paul the Nets are not winning 14 more games

Curry and Uncle Drew need a little more seasoning before you place them that high…

Curry and Irving need to get better defensively first and foremost.

I think Irving will one day be considered one of the three best PG’s in the league…but I think he’s a couple years away from that especially since his assist numbers are so low (mostly because he has a bunch of D-Leaguers on his team).

Hopefully Curry can stay healthy, because otherwise that’d be a great talent wasted.
