BKKnicksfanParticipantI’m working on a article (for sircharlesincharge.com, check it out) and I looked up Griffin’s numbers
22.8ppg, 12.6rpg, 3.5apg, 0.5bpg
Besides the fact he’s a piss-poor defensive player, does his numbers open up debate he’s a top 10 player?

RickyRubio9ParticipantI think it’s more of asking yourself the question; is he better than:
LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose, Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Chris Bosh, Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard, Paul Pierce, & so on so forth.

Ghost01ParticipantI would say
1. Lebron
2. Rose
3. Durant
4. Kobe
5. Dwight
6. Wade
7. Dirk
8. Carmelo
9. Westbrook
Those 9. no particular order are definitely better than him. Then theres a grey area. It depends on who you ask. Many probably think guys like Amare and DWill are better than him, but its really debatable because Blake is so young and inexperienced we really dont know how good he is.

Stevenyou guys have got to be kidding me when you add westbrook to the top 10 list, that is a joke. i am 99 percent positive anyone in the thunder organization will take blake griffin over westbrook in a heart beat.
westbrook doesnt even get top 15 yet imo.

SteroidParticipantI don’t think he’s a top 10 player yet. I’d say he is in the top 20. We will really know how good he is once he gets grounded in the NBA, which will take about 3 full seasons. Bestter coaching and team defense concept will help out his defense a lot.

gregoden08ParticipantPeople give Amare a lot of crap for being a bad defender, but at least he can block shots. Blake is a TERRIBLE defender and has given up a lot of big games to very average pf’s/centers. He is definetely a top-20 player, and maybe a top-15, but definetely not a top-10.

RickyRubio9Participant& I’m going out on a limb to say he shoots more shots than Dirk Nowitzki.
Nowitzki plays with one of the greatest 6th Men ever, a Hall of Fame PG, "The Matrix", and he had Caron Butler too so you know he shares his shots with some great teammates. Plus JJ Barea has been doing a lot more this season as well.Griffin has Gordon…. and I guess Davis at times.
I’d take Westbrook over Griffin;
Defense PG > Offensive PF.Imagine if he were given the keys to the car; right now he’s just in the passenger seat.
I’d say increase in numbers, but decrease in shooting percentage if there was no Kevin Durant.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantBlake is still far more sizzle than steak. He is a highlight machine, but top ten talents win games. They don’t lose to Cleveland. They come up bigger than 4-19 on the road. He cannot be in the same conversation as LeBron, Rose, Durant, Howard, Wade, Kobe, Dirk, CP3, Deron Williams, Pau, Melo, etc. He might eventually be, but not now. A youtube worthy dunk is still only two points.

Stanford hoops1no not top 10 at all. And he’s still behind bosh who has done the same thing and more numbers wise on a bad team but he lead that bad team to more wins and a playoff. Zach Randolph has done the same things as well but with less athletic ability and.
He is a horrible defender but that isn’t factored into being a top 10,5 player. Nash has won two MVP’s wasn’t he considered a top 5 player at one point and we all know his defense was/is horrible

I say by year three, he’ll be a top ten player for sure.

First off, WTF are you talking about? Jefferson was a top 25 player (AND RISING) in the NBA before he tore his ACL in Minnesota. I asked because Griffin’s numbers as a rookie, his value and upside warrants the question.
Second, I don’t judge men. If you think he’s pretty, that’s all you man.

Thank you. It shows people aren’t reading to me. I asked does his numbers open it up to being a top 10 guy. That’s all I asked.
Another thing, if the Clippers called the Thunder and offered Blake for Westbrook, they do it in a heartbeat.

And by pretty, he meant his highlight dunks.
No need to take it offensively.

BKKnicksfanParticipantWell, I ranked Randolph as one of my top 20 players in the league last week and last season, I had Jefferson in the 20-30 range. Griffin has better polished moves then Jefferson and he isn’t as bulky and a stump in the post as Randolph has the tendency to be. I liked all 3. I like Randolph and Griffin now, Jefferson once he leaves Utah because he’s a awful fit
Nah man, if you meant pretty as Dunking, say Dunking, don’t say pretty.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI understand that Randolph and Jefferson put up great numbers, but they just aren’t as good as Griffin in my opinion. I mean, they’re more skilled in the low post, but that’s about it. They can’t read doubles/triples and pass liek Griffin. They can’t handle it like Griffin. They just can’t do some of the things Griffin can do.
It’s not hard to see that Griffin has what he takes on and off of the court to be a top five player eventually in the NBA. He’s not top ten right now, but I’m personally not offended by the question.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s all about circumstance.
Jefferson was a loser last season. He’s now a winner because he’s on a better team.
Randolph has been a loser who put up 20 and 10 for majority for his career. The last two seasons have been the best of his career, but it’s not like Memphis has made the playoffs.
I wouldn’t take Jefferson OR Randolph over Griffin despite the fact they’re on better teams right now. You put Griffin on those teams and they’re both better in my opinion.

Numbers on a bad team
Bad defense
Same things Blake is doing (numbers on a bad team , bad defense) Yet you will rarely find anyone mention that. They will ask question’s like "Blake one of the best players in the NBA"

BKKnicksfanParticipantI disagree, alot of people loved Blake but I don’t remember too many people hating Kevin Love. For one, Love played alot of last season out of shape and even then, he was coming off the bench. Alot of people had questions about him coming into this season (which was fair) but I don’t believe ANYONE said he was a bad basketball player. Plus, Love isn’t better then Al Jefferson, Zach Randolph, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge just to name a few.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t think Kevin Love is a go-to player or top option player. I think he’d be best as a second or third option. A pick and pop guy who rebounds.
I just don’t view him as a player with superstar potential or franchise player type.

BKKnicksfanParticipantYou might wanna check out BTPH and Urban post then Knicks. And another guy who’s name escapes me said he would be a 6th man on a good team. Just because YOU don’t believe anyone said it doesn’t mean it wasn’t said
1st- Post where? Show me the post…..
2nd- I don’t care if BTPH said it, then he’s wrong. Love is a solid starter.

I agree. I hope Stanford isn’t saying Love is a #1 guy because that’s DEAD wrong.

Stanford hoops1Now on a real serious note. I’m not as big of a Love fan as i have shown, it was obvious i did all that to piss Urban and BTPH off. But i also don’t think his numbers are just a product of being on a bad team. I don’t think he’s a better player than Blake( used to but the more i watch Blake the more i realize he’s a special talent and not just all hustle). What i will debate about is how People dismiss what Love does but praise what Blake does when both are on bad teams and both of there teams have won less game this year than last at this point.
There are many subjects on here i debate about that i don’t truly believe but debate anyone because it gets pretty boring on here when everyone see’s things from just one side instead of trying to look at both. Alot of Knick fans do this Alot of clipper fans do it and Even some Laker fan’s do it. People may get butt hurt by what i say and so be it but it makes for very interesting debates and its never dull
Learned years ago in Communication class that people rather see a train wreck instead of a peace conference

Stanford hoops1oh i don’t think he’s a number one option on a title team. But he can be a number one option on a playoff team like Zach and Aldridge.
You seriously dont remember some of these Love hate post??? google NBAdraft.net/ove or something along those lines and read the post, you must have missed alot of post because there are a couple of people who really don’t think Love is as good as people say he is.
Another thing people don’t think about is how hard it is to get rebounds, points when you are on a bad team or a bad defensive team. Love may not score as much on a good team but Rebounds is one thing that translates. If you are a good rebounder on a bad team, if you get the minutes on a good team you are just as good or even better because the other team will miss more shots since the new team you are on is a better defensive team. Rodman was a good rebounder and you put him with a great defensive team like the Bulls and he gets rebounds like they are rain drops because teams are missing even more shots.

That’s pretty weak. It almost sounds like you go the other way just to do it. If that’s the case, that’s lame. Colin Cowherd does it all the time, corny dudes do that. I admit, it does get bored as hell here, but that’s because there’s not alot of dudes that know basketball on here. For real, we got dudes talking about being gay, cats with depression and all that jazz. People get mad when I say it but, some dudes posts wouldn’t even get read on here if they were stupid.
Realistically, there’s like 10 dudes on here that talk basketball

Stanford hoops1No i go the other way by looking at the other side. You call it weak but that’s life. You may call it Corney but in the real world that’s what gets guys like Colin Cowherd,Rush, ratings, paid. You will realize this more when you get out in the real world if you get into things like News,Radio,Even basketball scouting
I feel you on some of the subjects on here that have zero to do with basketball. But go on another basketball site and chat with people who only look at things from one side. That’s also a Corney way to talk about basketball if you don’t look at all side. If you argue about how a guy is not good because he’s on a losing team try looking at it from the other side, how hard it is for a player to score while the other team sole purpose is to stop him.
This reminds me of a poster who’s name i don’t recall who made a post where he would argue for the other side of any subject someone brought up whether he believed it or not. That was one of the most popular and interesting post’s that has been on here in awhile

BKKnicksfanParticipantI hear you on the getting paid part. But honestly, I wanna go down as one of the best. I feel he goes the other way and FOOLS get upset enough to call in his show. Real talk, the second he gets to while? Click, I go listen to Bomani Jones and he keeps it real. That’s what I want to be. That’s just me. I wanna get paid, but I’m not gonna be a punkass to get paid.
If your going the other way to prove I point, I feel you. I just think if your doing it, agreeing with everyone else, is lame. As for the dudes on the site, you got the ppl who’s been here for years talking ball and the dudes who come here and bounce ideas off. I come here for a couple reasons, talking ball and gather different ideas or ways of looking at the game.
Some dudes come on here just talk ball and if they get it wrong, it’s nothing and because they on the CPU, they can keep it moving. Like I said, the fact we can lose points for talking basketball is stupid, but people come here, so Aran won’t remove it.
We need like 3-7 new dudes to come here and talk ball with different perspective. Alot of the same people talking alot, we kinds have the same opinion on the same things

Stanford hoops1That’s the real world for ya. Saying things on you’re show that people don’t agree with will get you ratings,Paid and a better job. The key is that once you get to the top that’s when you start doing it the way you wanna do it. Just like a singer or rapper. You have to sing certain songs or rap a certain way in order to sell records and get paid and then when you get to the position you wanna be in you can start doing things more you’re way (good example is Andree 3000)

Stanford hoops1You aren’t gonna agree with people all the time on here. I think of it like playing in open gym. Some times you are gonna curse people out, fight etc and sometimes you are gonna agree with what they say. But then you move on.
for people who have been on here awhile, They know Ive had drag out classic battles with Tezo in the past and some times I’ve agreed with what he says. That’s all part of debating about things you are passionate about. Sometimes its gonna be all good and others its gonna get extremely heated. Best thing you can do is stand you’re ground but also listen to what the other person is saying because sometimes there is truth to what they are saying and that will make you a better poster IMO

Stanford hoops1lol..that you did and it isn’t even close………………………….right now. But Mayo is much better then he is showing right now that is clear. He just needs a change of scenery. When he was playing and in good graces with the Coach is was very debatable about who was the better player
