Portland trades the 6th pick only if it’s drummond to Houston

Houston trades Kyle Lowry to Portland.

Lowry publically said he doesnt want to play for McHale and Portland needs a PG.

Than Portland drafts Zeller at 11 and they just filled 2 big needs.

    Houston resigns Dragic.

Houston has 14 and 16 maybe one of these goes to Portland??

Houston takes Henson/Moultrie(whoever is there) at 14 and now have quality young bigs going forward

    Houston take Jones at 16

both teams just earned draft day A+

     Wait a minute.

Lowry for Drummond (granted he goes 6th) straight up doesn’t add up. They have to sweeten it somehow, so one of their two picks, presumably the latter (16th) has to be included.

With their 14th pick, even if they end up resigning Dragic, they can’t add another big guy. They already have one too many and they remain terribly thin at the pg slot. Unless you expect Dragic to carry out the whole thing by himself.

Portland would add Zeller at 11 and quite possibly one of the Joneses with the other Houston pick, or even Ross or Rivers or Lamb, whoever falls that much.

I like that deal for both teams. Houston gets a much needed center and Portland gets a borderline allstar point guard and would be right back in the playoffs next year. Blazers would still have 2 draft picks to fill out their roster. Sounds like a win win.

Granted he’s been a rock solid back up PG and had a fantastic season in Houston last year, but he is not worth the 6th in this draft…

    As a Rockets fan…

We’re not going anywhere soon and although I don’t think Andre Drummond will blossom into a star or anything, I’d like this deal.  Like I said, we’re not going anywhere soon so might as well take a chance on Drummond.

I guess I’m in the minority, Lowry is a very good, young PG in this league and no way do I give him up for the 6th pick in this draft.

He should garner more than that.

I am hoping the hometown Raptors can get him for the 8th pick while we are at it, but there’s no reason for Houston to make either of those deals.

I don’t think that is a great deal for Portland.  They are in rebuilding mode.  In order to win a championship, they need to pick up valuable pieces through the draft.  PGs of Lowry’s caliber can be acquired through free agency or the draft.  The Blazers should jump on the chance to draft Drummond if he falls to 6th.

"Lowry is a very good, young PG in this league and no way do I give him up for the 6th pick in this draft"

Only problem is, with Lowry publically stating he wants out of Houston, other teams have leverage and are using it to their advantage.  The Rockets have no choice but to trade him and when you can get leverage like that, you receive lesser value for talented players.

Drummond in Houston would be great, because Kevin McHale could teach him post up moves, like how he did with a young Kevin Garnett…Also, I’m sure Hakeem would love the fact of teaching Drummond some moves also, since he’ll be playing for his old team

Bad deal for Portland would be better off just making there picks.

Lowry is great no doubt but when you publically say you don’t want to play for your coach and you have a promising backup than you gotta go and you lose some value. If Drummond comes close to his potential than this deal is solid for both. Is that risk worth Lowry? guess it depends if you are the gm of the Rockets.

I get the comment he publically stated he wants out, so there is a dicount situation, but if I am Portland I jump all over that deal, cuz if the deal is contingent on Drummond being there, I don’t think he will be.

Like I said, hopefully my Raptors get the memo and offer #8 for him and add a quality young PG to the roster.

one possibility is that they see Drummond as someone who needs a few years of seasoning before he can be a contributer to their tean. It took Tyson Chandler 4 years before becoming a regular contributer without getting to foul trouble. if the blazers wait for Drummond to blossom, then they would have wasted most of Aldridge’s prime years.

this is all speculation though. honestly, i havent heared enough from the blazers’ camp to know on their outlook on Drummond. if he’s available, do they think he can play right away since his body is already NBA ready? or do they feel that they will reep the benefits of honing Drummond after his rookie deal? he’s always been on another level physically against his peers, how will he adjust on facing players his size right away? too many unanswered questions to determine what Portland would do, all we’re left with is speculation.

Rockets doesn’t need a hundred picks(3 these year in that scenario, 2 next year + the conditionnal mavs pick for years, + morris + motiejunas), they doesn’t need mid tiers for ever, stuck in the middle is painful, you won’t grab the face of your franchise, the building block at 13-16.

They need to upgrade and stop piling, they have solid role players, depth, they need star power, elite and splash….NOW.

Everybody on the trade blocks, sign and trades, packaged picks, free agency.

They have many trade baits, expirings, many picks, the cheap contract of lowry.

At least bring all star calibers if not all nba players.

Rockets shouldn’t be only PO contenders.

I think it’s about Houston made a splash. If this is true I think Houston should do it. Houston gets a possible franchise C. Portland gets a high quality PG and they don’t have to take a chance on another big man.

Then Houston needs to package some of the following players for an all star: Chase Budinger, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Patrick Patterson, Motie, Morris, and their picks at 14 and 16. I would take a chance on Rudy Gay if they could swing it.
