Nbadraft has officially moved McCollum out of the lotto for Oladipo and I’m pretty sad about that.
    .
Do you think Indiana would be a better team with McCollum instead of Oladipo?
My answer is Yes. McCollum is one of the best shooter in the country, nasty half court handles with potential to play PG.
If he happens to click as a PG, and he would because he’s a hi-iq, hard worker, he will be an absolute stud.
If he doesn’t develop into a full PG, he will be a great combo, maybe even a starting SG considering he’s 6’3 and plays a lot off the ball, his assist have taken a hit only since last year only because Lehigh needs scorers and McCollum rose this year as great off-ball scoring threat, Last year he was more ball dominant because he Had to, as he wasn’t such a nice catch and shooter.

    .
If you haven’t seen McCollum move right on and skip the question.
(CJ is only 5 months older than Oladipo.)

Olidepo is a better complementary player as in he plays defense, rebounds and doesnt need the ball in his hands. He is a complementary wing player, while McCollum is either a bench scorer like lou williams or an ok starting point guard, but the point guard part is not certain. Olidepo is a safer pick and has a more defined role in the NBA, while McCollum is more of a risk, but there is more upside to him.

Mock drafts don’t really address team needs as much as it is a big board of players stock. McCollum isn’t playing so his stock is dropping and Oladipo is killing it so he’s naturally rising. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

considering Indiana has only 2 losses and are 6-0 against ranked and in those games Olidipo is averaging 20 ppgs on 66% shooting while being the teams best wing defender not only on his team but in the entire NCAA… I’m going to have to say no

Considering how much time McCullum has missed…I’d say they’re better off with Olidipo. And besides that, he’s playing great and its hard to say what McCullum would be doing but I can see why nba scouts would have Olidipo. Remember he’s doing it against Big 10 competition, probably the best conference in the league. Not the Lehigh schedule.

No, Indiana would not be as good with McCollum. The Hoosiers have no problem scoring. Oladipo’s the one who makes their defense go and creates a lot of easy bucket transition opportunities with his steals and deflections.

Also, their offense is based on body and player movement. With CJ on the team, their offense would feature more iso which would make them more easy to defend.

Disagree with what? That they have no problem scoring? They have the number one offense in the nation.
Does Oladipo make their defense go? Yes.
Does he create a bunch of easy transition buckets? Yes
Are they a team dependent on body and player movement for their offense in the halfcourt? Yes

I don’t see how McCollum would make them any better. IF he would improve their offense, it wouldn’t be as much as Oladipo improves their defense.

          They would score even more!
CJ Mccollum would create as many transition buckets if not more than Oladipo at Indiana.
don’t see why CJ McCollum cant be part of their offense without killing ball movement, like i said above, he can play off the ball very well, better than Oladipo.
Dipo would bring better defense and a couple extra garbage buckets, thats it. McCollum would bring the same rebounds, more outside shooting, better passing, and a go to scorer. And while not being in the same category as Oladipo defensively, CJ is no slouch in that department either

No he would not create as many transition buckets. If deflections were a stat, Oladipo would be among college ball’s leaders. He’s also a one man fast break if he picks one off.

Oladipo impacts the game in way more ways than McCollum, whether it be on the ball or off the ball defense, rebounding on both ends, making hustle plays, slashing, cutting…every single aspect of the game that requires athleticism.

CJ McCollum is an on-the-ball scorer with a crazy high usg rate.
McCollum has a 37% usg rate yet gets less than 3 assists a game? Is he really that good of a passer? He’s just a scorer, an on the ball one, with average athleticism and less versatility. Whatever incremental improvement they’d have offensively, which they don’t even need, would not make up for what they’d lose on the defensive end of the floor.

Oladipo scores in the mid teens (even better vs top competition) on some of the highest efficiency in the nation. In the college game, he is an offensive plus and a DPOY candidate. Compared to Oladipo, McCollum ain’t sht defensively.

Compared to McCollum, Oladipo is sh*t offensively.
McCollum can play off he ball, i dont know what your talking about. He hit 50% of his catch and shoot jumpers from behind the line.
              .
Are you seriously gonna ignore the fact that CJ’s team sucks. i mean, Lillard got 4 assist last year!
You put McCollum in Indiana and he would get no less than 5 assist

Not true at all. Oladipo is top 5 in the country in TS, Offensive rating, top 10 in the country in Offensive win shares. He’s actually really good offensively in college. Much better than McCollum is defensively.
Not only is he good, but he steps up his game offensively vs better competition. Usually players’ numbers take a dip vs better competition. Not Oladipo. He’s averaging 17ppg on elite efficiency vs teams that have been ranked in the top 25.. So take 17ppg on elite efficiency vs top teams, combine that with the equivalent of being a shut down corner defensively and you get an impact on the game that McCollum simply cannot match.

Swap players and Indiana loses to Michigan St both times, probably the Minnesota game too. Oladipo was the MVP of all 3 of those games and has been Indiana’s best player all yr.

retard the growth of Indiana’s five star PG, Yogi Ferrell.
As an IU fan, there is no one in all of college ball that I would trade for Oladipo. No One!

Seems like Watford and Hulls do a pretty good job to me. 50%-42.8%-74.5% as a team (with Oladipo of course). Does McCollum lock up the best wing on the other team like Victor does? Of course not. No one does.
    Oladipo all day every day.

What exactly is the point of this thread? Would the Bulls be better with Westbrook or Rose? Would the Rockets have been better with Ewing or Olajuwon? Who cares? They have who they have. Hypothetical BS like this drives me bonkers…
