McDunkinDisaster fell upon the Indiana University basketball team early this morning, when sophomore Devin Davis was struck by a car driven by his freshman teammate Emmitt Holt. Davis had left the car in a parking lot moments earlier, but according to Bloomington Police as the car exited the parking lot Davis “unexpectedly reentered the road and was struck by the vehicle.” Davis is in serious condition at Bloomington Hospital.
According to ESPN, Holt was cited for “illegal consumption and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content above 0.02.” The legal limit in Indiana for those under 21 is 0.02, and Holt—who is 18—blew a 0.025, according to the school. A police statement notes that, while Holt was above the legal limit, he was not intoxicated.
