There are a nice array of point guards coming on the horizon. Which point guard do you think will be the next big thing? J.Wall is looking like the obvious choice with his arsenal of athletic drives to the basket similar to D.Rose. What about R.Rubio similar to S.Nash he is a floor general and will be really good he has a lot of experience. B.Jennings has to be the most intriguing guy out there he has star power and he can run a team. He is like having a athletic Kenny.Anderson he could really be good if he develops his jump shot. Steph Curry I know he’s not a point per say but he could pan out at the point he’s shown improvement. Ty Lawson is a nice point guard option, just don’t see him being a special player though. Calathes could be very good when you combine all his intangibles his size and court vision make him unique. J’rue Holiday is another option just wonder if he’ll be a full time point guard. Sure I missed somebody but just wanted to know who you guys would pick?

At this point in the next couple of years Rubio seems to be the only definite true “Star” PG that will be available. Jennings has the potential to be a “Star” PG too, but he has to show some consistency before he can be delcared a true future Franchise PG. I think Curry has that “Star” PG potential too, but it’s not as high as the other two. John Wall is the true dark horse for being a future Franchise “Superstar” PG. It remains to be seen if he’s a PG or a SG, but if Calipari is willing to play Tyreke Evans at PG then he will definitely feature Wall as the main facilitator of his dribble drive offense. Wall really is the only PG in the next couple of years that a team would be willing to spend their #1 pick on, unless a GM absolutely falls in love with Rubio and his team is in a large market. Jrue Holiday projects to be a good PG/SG in the mold of a more athletic Kirk Hinrich. He’s going to be very solid defensively and he’s got very good athleticism, but when he’s on the floor he doesn’t stand out enough. Holiday’s worth a pick in the mid to late lottery of this year’s draft; depending on a team’s needs. Lawson, Maynor, Collison, Mills, Price and Flynn all project to be fill in starters or backups on a solid teams. Mills and Flynn look to be the best of the five, but I don’t see them ever being a Star in anyway.

in the 2009 class, the players that stand out to me is Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson, Johnny Flynn and Eric Maynor. Jennings has crazy athletic abilities and in time can run a NBA team; but he needs to improve his jumpshot so he can be an elite pg. Ty lawson, sometimes reminds me of raymond felton because both were extremely quick but did not have an impress jumpshot. Johnny flynn, is one of my favorite pg in college ball, i have seen him play 10 times and his very impressive. i call him a ” go get it” player because he will do anything for his team to win. Eric maynor, can be a solid back up, like kevin ollie and others. However, my two favorite pg of 2009, is Brandon jennings and Mr. Flynn.

John wall would probably be my 1st choice since hes the most athletic and has good size for pg position. He plays just like Derrick rose except maybe with a better off hand, and with the way Rose is playing right now someone just like him cant be that bad to have. Jennings will be very good a top 10 pg, Lawson would be good with Suns, I think maynor will be better then expected and really produce, and as for Curry he would do good with the Knicks well since he has a great jump shot to thrive in that offense.

PS: Does anyone know a good major to maybe become a scout or a College coach ive played basketball all my life and i was thinking sports management but most of those classes are business and i dont know what other majors would work with that.

I think being a scout for any sport is the hardest job there is. Harder than a head coach in my opinion. You really have to know your stuff. Having played the sport on different levels helps a ton. And with the influx of foreign players you really have to understand the Euro game. You also have to know a lot of peeps and sources. Spotting talent and character is harder than it appears.

PG’s next 2 years….The top two are clear, 3-5 may be out of order. Look out for Kemba next year after A.J. Price is gone, the kid has game.

1. John Wall: The next can’t miss PG.
2. Ricky Rubio: May rival Wall as #1.
3. Brandon Jennings: Too much flash? Next Marbury? Skills are there
4. Kemba Walker: Next year….sick
5. Stephen Curry: Still needs to develop PG skills, should overcome weaknesses

John Wall, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Jennings, J’rue Holiday, Iman Shumpert, Willie Warren, and Jeff Teague are all point guards that see with a bright NBA future. Holiday, Shumpert, Warren, and Teague all needs another year of college to further develop their playmaking skills, but according to articles, John Wall, Ricky Rubio, and Brandon Jennings all seem to have being a pure playmaker down pat, so we’ll see what the future holds.

I would take a chance on this kid. His skills are too sick not to translate to the NBA game. Plus, he would bring ridiculous revenue to the team that drafts him. I do think Wall is going to be great as well as Jennings but I gotta go with the next Maravich.

Not sure Warren will be a point on the next level. More of a scorer than anything but never know if he can develop into a playmaker.

patty mills is solid, nothing fantastic nothing sub-par. id prefer rubio or jennings but i think patty mills needs to be mentioned at least. His play in the olympics was good and he has been great in college. In a perfect world, id get to see him and stephen curry in the same backcourt. Theyre the two most fundamental guards in the draft. I think ricky rubio is by far the best though. He should be a good marketing tool and he plays with so much energy that it elevates the people around him.
