There’s talks about the Cavs picking Kyrie Irving I’m really not sold on that choice just yet. Talks of Derrick Williams at that first pick as well, but another pick within the top 10 is out there who could be chosen with that selection?

The NBA is becoming a point guard driven league more and more……so the right fit and choice would be Irving then Sullinger.

there is no garentee they get the first but with two high picks, im sure their aim would be for a point gaurd (ideally irving) and the best available guy. whether that be williams, barnes or someone like Kanter.

^ not really, big men still win championships, which is the goal of every team. Saying that, the Cavs have acceptable big men and none in the draft are that good, maybe Jonas.

4 choices in order of priority.

    1.  Kyrie Irving and Jared Sullinger

    2.  Kyrie Irving and Enes Kanter

    3.  Alec Burks and Jared Sullinger

    4.  Alec Burks and Enes Kanter

Point is, one big man and one guard.

i like the one gaurd and one big man or swingman idea.

there would be no point drafting the same positions.

unless your David Kahn and you like losing.

If i was the cavs i would trade antawin jamison to the bucks for their first round pick.  Then i would draft perry jones and derrick williams to cause match up problems at the 3 and the 4 spot. Then i would draft kemba walker because he is an absolute beast and he is a winner.

If Cleveland has Sessions in their future plans, I would like the idea of going with a wing with the first pick Derrick Williams, Harrison Barnes Perry Jones or go big Jared Sullinger, Enes Kanter, . Depending on where they pick with the second pick I say go get you a PG Alec Burks, Kemba Walker, Brandon Knight.

the cavs cant trade Jamison to the bucks for their pick because they are over the cap.

yea but couldnt they just drop someone to free up some cap space. Im sure if the cavs came to them with that trade proposal they would jump on the oppurtunity and free up some cap space. Escpecially since the bucks are ranked as the worst offensive team in the nba right now and a offensive foward like jamison would improve their offense alot plus jamison would complimant andrew bogut perfectly.

The Cavs would likely get a top 4 and a top 10 pick.  The top 4 would ideally be Kyrie Irving > Jared Sullinger > Enes Kanter > Derrick Williams.

A month ago when they got then 2nd lotto pick from LAC, I recalled reading that they were looking at Harrison Barnes and Jonas Valanciunas.  Back then, Harrison Barnes just started to play better and ranked at mid-late lotto while Jonas Valanciunas was always underrated in almost every mock (except for DX), so ideally, they would be looking at Kyrie Irving and Jonas Valaniunas (because at #8, Kanter, Sullinger would be gone).

So from what Ive been reading in this thread its basically a fact Cleveland would rather select Irving then Barnes. Where does that general belief stem from, an opinion or do you have a link?

I think Barnes will be a better player then Irving personally, and with sessions and Davis already at the PG position, there is no real reason to draft a player in your strongest position. Barnes and Valanciunas is what they proablly will get, although if they can grab one of the bigs in kanter, Sullinger, Williams, then going in that direction would be smart for the 2nd pick, or if they can select Burks.

^ it’s tough since Barnes would improve them more right away since they already have Baron Davis and Sessions. If they go Irving they’ll be just as bad as they are this year since Irving is coming off the bench.

It really depends if Cleveland thinks Sessions is there for long term, if he is they should draft a 2 and a 3, ideally Barnes and Burks.

If Kanter played this year, wouldn’t he be rated higher than Sullinger? I’d pick Kanter before Sully.

Cavs 2 picks should be the best players available

so thats Irvin and whoever is sitting there. This team is starting allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way over. No one has a spot set in stone, hell no one has a spot in rubber cement. Barnes,Jones,Williams, some forigen player that we only see highlights of doesn’t matter

i just dont see them taking a PG. Next year their roster has Sessions, B-Diddy and Boobie all under contract. Why take another one? that’s 4 roster spots. If they do take Irving, they better make some deals

It can be the 2005 draft all over again…but instead of the hawk its the Cavs….

Hawks Took the forward Marvin Willams over CP3….when they needed a PG.

If everybody believes Irving is the next coming of CP3 so why not take him?….Baron Davis isnt the same player he once was.

Boobi plays mostly off ball anyways…..hes not remotely close to a PG more of SG.

and its not like Session is untradeable….

    Irving and Sully perfect.

Generally speaking, "husky" guys don’t do well in the NBA.  They can get run like Big Baby, Blair and Hayes but I can’t think of a single chubby player who became a star… maybe Sir Charles?  If being a star is what your shooting for within the top 5 picks I’m not sure Sullinger has it.  If Sullinger had Williams body he would be #1 and it wouldn’t even be close.  I wonder if he will always struggle with weight issues and the NBA level of athleticism.  I can’t see Sullinger ever getting the opportunity to get 20 and 10 in the NBA unless a team trusts him with that kind of playing time.  Right now he’s going to the Raps in the latest mock and I still think thats too high.  I think he goes 6th or 7th no matter what happens in the tourney and after GM’s check him out in combine testing.  He’s always been a winner because of his girth as a clear advantage at every level he’s played.  Size won’t necessarily be that helpful for him later unless he becomes more explosive.

Kyrie Irving should be at the top of their draft board, but if they can’t get him they should look to fix up that frontcourt…

    Jared Sullinger and Jonas Valanciunas.

    BOOM!

I think JJ Hickson is set at PF and Ramon Sessions/Baron Davis are set at PG.

I’d take Harrison Barnes or Perry Jones with their first lotto pick and Enes Kanter or Jonas Valanciunas with their second lotto pick… or maybe vice versa if the Euro bigs really impress.

^^Thats how I have them selecting in my mock draft, adress team needs, build properly, and you can never have too many C’s.

Baron Davis and JJ Hickson are not great players by any means.

The Cavs need to improve at every position.

Ramon Sessions is a good player and along with Baron Davis the Cavs are set at PG for now.

J.J. Hickson is a decent young PF at 6’9" 240 who’s only going to get better.

I see far greater needs emerging for the Cavs at SF and C, which is why the Cavs should use their two lotto picks on Harrison Barnes or Perry Jones and Enes Kanter or Jonas Valanciunas.

They need a point and a wing.

    Take Irving #1.

Take the best wing at #8 or whenever their second pick is (prob Alec "Kobe Bryant" Burks).

They need a SF, C and SG more than they need a PG.

The Cavs should choose from among:

SF:  Derrick Williams, Harrison Barnes or Perry Jones.

C:  Enes Kanter or Jonas Valanciunas.

    SG:  Alec Burks

    Kyrie Irving

then perry jones – jan vesely – donatas motiejunas

you get a franchise PG and a freak sized scorer like one of these 3 (all 6-11 with 3pt range and handle)
