Man, that’s tough because MJ is the GOAT. Kobe is my favorite player of all time, but the fact that he lost in two finals might hurt him over throwing MJ even if he beat Lebron and Wade in a finals. I think he would be top five easy after that, but not over MJ. But As a Kobe fan, I just want to thank LeBron because the Debate is over and done with for who the best is right now. Kobe already is the GOAT. When you watch him play he draws similarities to MJ, but if Kobe came before MJ we’d be saying MJ models his game after Kobe. So saying that he models his game after MJ doesn’t mean he isn’t on the same level. Kobe’s footwork is phenomenal everywhere on the court. He is always a threat to hurt you, including on the defensive end. Clearly, Kobe is better than LeBron. LeBron relies a lot on his freak-athleticism to do the things he does while Kobe does what he does with pure basketball skill. Kobe is the GOAT, Black Mamba and best closer ever to step foot on the hardwood!

Im a big kobe fan and he is the best player in the nba to me forget all the lebron fans but Mj never lost in the finals and he when he was in his prime he never lost more than 2 games in a series and utah was the only team to beat him have yall seen the flu game I was only 5 when it happened but 38 points and he really was sick and he was throwing up wow that is phenonmal.

see just like one of the posters said “he will never be better then jordan”..no matter what kobe does some people just wont put him ahead of jordan. he can put up 40ppg and win 4 more titles but you will still have some saying jordan is better. for some hes in a no win situation

yea kobe is in a no win situation and lebron is in a lose lose situation. some ppl say that if he win now it will b tarnished n i dont believe that. i do believe winning one is not gone cut it while in cleveland it must have been. he will have to win at least three for it to be a good move as far as his legacy.

yeah, some people decided when kobe was like 23 that he would never be better then jordan no matter what. Jordan won his rings each chance he got. But i do think the comp is tougher now. ANd kobe’s lakers have had some injuries in the finals. Malone in 2004 aqnd bynum/ariza in 2008. Jordan came first and it’s gonna be everyone compared to him. The only real knock i can think of on jrdan is that after he retired in 93, the next season the bulls put pete meyers in the starting lineup at sg who had a career averaged of 5ppg and they went on and won 55 games and advanced in the playoffs. They had a great all around team put around jordan. When he came back in 1995, they got beat in the second round becasue they had holes in theri lineup and then they went and got rodman and harper and they were back to winnig titles.

I’m one of those people who doesn’t think Kobe will ever pass Jordan and it’s because he’ll never match the impact Jordan had on the game of basketball as a whole.

Not only that, Kobe will never match his rate of winning. Jordan never lost in the Finals. He always won MVP. He always showed up huge and was victorious.

I just don’t think Kobe can touch him. He’ll be considered the second best wing player ever when it’s all said and done though, which is nothing to be upset about.

This was my point of this whole thread….

People get crazy when someone is compared to MJ….but it’s not like I am comparing Harold Minor here. I realize all that MJ did for the L and that he never lost a Finals…so on and so on..

But….Kobe has been to 7 Finals and probably will get there again. I believe Russell and his teammates have only gotten there more. I know he had Shaq, blah blah blah. He has done it without Shaq.

Who cares if he lost in the finals? Did he have Scottie Pippen who is one of the best perimeter defenders ever to play the game? Did he have Dennis Rodman grabbing 16 rebounds and outletting him the ball everytime? Did he get saved by Steve Kerr? No. Those were all things that happened to MJ. You look at MJ and see he is the best ever and don’t even give anyone else (especially Kobe) a chance. You say before anyone can even make an argument, nobody will ever be better than MJ. You aren’t a true basketball fan if you can’t respect the game and the fact that anything is possible, even somebody being better than your “Almighty Mike”. So say all you want, but Kobe has all the skills MJ had and more.

There is zero doubt in anyone’s mind that Jordan is clearly the best player now.

If Kobe does that than he will be in the conversation. I don’t think you can clearly state that he is better, because that is just one series, but he will definitely be in the convo.
