Everyone make a projected top 8 so i can see what it would look like…for those of you who are unaware, here is how it would look

3) Knight (logically they need a SF: Vesely, but if they really want Knight to do some trades, ok)

4) Kanter ( would  help Kevin Love in the frontcourt)

5) Jonas Valanciunas (need a C)

6) Vesely (need a SF).  Vesely if he’s still there. Else, Kawhi Leonard.

7) Kemba. Logically, they should take an SF/PF, Leonard or Marcus Morris, but reports say they’re gonna take a PG, Knight if he’s still there or else Kemba

8) Burks. Should now go PG or SG. If they’re lucky, it will be Knight or Walker, else they will go with Alec Burks (more realistic).

 I really like what the Timberwolves will be getting out of this draft now. They thought two was too high to draft Kanter so moved down. They also got that second pick in the top ten and I think Burks would be a great pick for them, if they get those two guys I would be pretty content with their picks plus they got another pick at 20 to either pick up another guy or trade away for some veteran help.

Didn’t the Clippers give away the first pick to get rid of Barron? It’s a weak draft, so I have no problem with this. If anything they would be too young and I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw the Wolves package those picks for a veteran like Iggy or Granger (just throwing names around).

Most people are saying they can’t believe the pistons would do this.

I can’t believe the Cavs would do this!  The pistons would jump on it.  Basically they’d be selling the #8 pick for $25 million.  That’s an extremely high price for #8 in a historically top-weak draft, even just in terms of money, let alone the cap space.   As a comparison, teams can buy picks in the 20s, even in strong drafts, for just $3 million, without giving up cap space, and almost none can afford to.

Why would Minnesota pick Valanciunas and Biyombo?

Minnesota already have Milicic and Pekovic who clould play center, so one would be enough.

Plus Minnesota lacks a SG.

I know that they already have Wesley Johnson, but I would take Burks with the 8th pick.

I don’t see Toronto taking a PG, they have Bayless and Calderon, and Kemba doesn’t strike me as inherently better than Bayless. More likely to take a big man or a SF in my opinion.

Cleveland should keep 8 and 4 if possible. It allows them to snag a backcourt duo in Irving and Burks and probably another big man. I’d love to see them land Kanter. Honestly, does anyone think Williams will be better/more reliable than a Barnes/Jones/Davis/Mcadoo/Miller? I’d look to these players instead, and even if they get the 2nd pick, draft Kanter, plus that leaves Minny reeling. Cleveland shouldn’t draft Williams. I like him, but for Cleveland I think they’d be better off waiting to draft  a forward. C and PG remain the hardest positions to fill on a NBA roster, and with this draft they could get long-term solutions at both.

That’s actually a very good point jmpedro; if they could snag Burks, Irving and Valanciunas, along with Hickson the only hole would be SF, of which there are an abundance in the 2012 draft. If they could reunite Gilchrist and Irving that would be an added perk. Three top 10 picks could be better in the long-run when there aren’t any surefire franchise players.

^^^This scenario would really would really surprise me. Singleton is nothing more than a role player…he’s just another athletic defender, they’re a dime a dozen…but do think he will have some value mid to late first round. The only picks i agree with is 1,2,7,8…middle needs to be re-arranged.

If MN actually takes Burks + Kanter… what a shame… Even if Rubio comes, Rubio-Burks-Beasley-Love-Kanter… with wes johnson, darko, webster, perkovic and flynn/ridnour coming ff the bench. That’s terrible. Absolutely terrible.

They need to get their hands on Brandon Knight or Derrick Williams. Stop considering another slow big man. And for the record, Malcolm Lee will turn out to be a way better pro than Alec Burks. I;d take Lee or Hamilton over Burks.

I don’t think anything Burks does really jumps off the page but I think he’ll be a solid two guard. I think DWillaims draft stock might be somewhat overhyped going off what he did in the NCAA tournament…If Burks had a chance to play in the tournament, and should have, more people would have seen him play and i think a lot more people would be talking about him. And same thing with Kanter, if Kanter had a chance to play for Kentucky this year they probably win the NCAA tourney and he might be in the discussion for #1. I don’t see this as such a bad scenario for the Wolves. 

I don’t think this draft class is that weak, I think last years class was much worse. I think there’s some potential in this class but not a lot of experience, and no clear cut stars jump out at me. But there is value in this draft for a lot of teams to fill some holes in their roster.
