Regardless of Kobe’s all-time greatness, there is no way he should accept an all-star appearence if his play doesn’t drastically improve, and I doubt he’d accept an invitation because he knows he doesn’t deserve it. All-star participants should be chosen based on their exceptional play in the CURRENT season, not what their career statistics and accomplishments are. Players have previously been voted in by fans that didn’t really deserve it but they at least put up somewhat respectible numbers, but Kobe has not nearly been worthy of an all-star appearance this year. And I don’t think anyone wants anyone to get injured so I’m not sure where you get that from, but if he doesn’t pick up the pace or accept a different role, he should retire after this season.

It’s not a lifetime achievement award, but it’s all about who the fans want to see, so I’m sure he’ll be voted in.

Of course he’ll accept it, if he’s healthy.

No he shouldnt he has played terrible and not even close to and All Star. If fans want to see him? Maybe the fans aren’t voting logically for who has played liked an All Star- that season. Then we should have Kobe, Pierce, Duncan, KG, and Vince all playing because of lifetime achievment and wanting to see them all together one last time They are bigger names to casual fans then an Eric Bledsoe, Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, Cj McCollum, Andre Drummond, but the younger guys are playing better more like All Stars this season then most of those older stars.

Kobe is not getting voted in. He has alot of crazy fans who will try. But I just dont see him making it over Steph, Russell, Paul, or Harden.

If he gets voted in my question would be can the league give the West an extra roster spot for a player who was deserved to make the team?  That way Kobe can have his last moment in the All Star game and nobody gets left off to make it happen.  There is no way he should be an All Star this year but I can see why fans would vote to see him in the game one last time.

If he gets voted in, he should go. Unfortunately that’s how the rules work, you could have definitely said Jordan should not have made the All-Star game that last year at the Wizards, when Vince Carter was basically bullied into giving his starting job to Michael Jordan, but after that, the 2003 All-Star game became a great day of entertainment. We got to see Jordan miss dunks, and knowing it was Jordan’s last game he had some good showdowns with other opposing great players such as Kobe Bryant. The East also kept giving him chances to win the game at the end, if not for Jermaine O’Neal fouling Kobe Bryant on a corner three (watching the game it looked like Kobe missed a free throw on purpose so he wouldn’t take Jordans momeny), the East would have won the game after Michael Jordan hit one of his patented fadeways over Shawn Marion (I believe). He was then subbed out in overtime and the East lost the game.

For us who have been able to see Kobe’s career, some of you may be mad he got in, but we will enjoy his last All-Star game, and he will most likely put on a show in some fun and games with Lebron and D-Wade.

Fan voting is a problem not just for a player like Kobe who is at the end of his career, but it’s also a problem for injured players making it in, and players who do not have a lot of notoriety. Vince Carter, Yao Ming, and Tracy McGrady consistently made all-star games while being injured, and taking spots away from deserving young guys. Steph Curry got screwed maybe 3 years ago and David Lee, his teammate made it over him. It happens but you can’t blame Kobe for fan voting.

He s put in more work and been to the finals and done so much for this league. If the fans vote him in for the final season of his career after multiple injuries over 20

seasons of putting in work, why the he’ll would Ny fan of this game not want to see him accept it?

If you are given an honor, you should accept it.

However, if you voted for Kobe to be in the all-star game, you should punch yourself in the face.

I’m not sure he would accept it actually. Kobe would have to be voted in as a starter and he knows he doesn’t deserve that at this stage of his career. I couldn’t see him taking a spot from a deserving player when he knows he hasn’t earned it with his play. He would probably prefer to have the extra rest anyway.

using All Star Appearences as a stat to compare players with. If I were voted into the game as a bench player, by the coaches in the league who I’ve played against… I would feel pretty damn good about that.

Kobe being voted in as a starter because LA still fasely believes he "belongs" there and China votes for him because he does a shoe deal tour there every summer, then that would be sad.

If he gets voted in then he really has to accept it as it’s a slap in the face for the fans who voted him in if he doesn’t.

But realistically I’d guess Steph Curry has one spot locked down then you’d have Harden and Westbrook as favourites for the other starter role before you even consider Lillard, CP3, Klay Thompson etc for other guard spots.

With the Lakers having such a poor record then there is no way that the coaches can really have a case for voting Kobe in either.

yes he should play this is his final season. The all star game is a show let’s be honest and that’s a perfect place for him to put in a final show for the fans.

The heart says Kobe gets one more All Star game, the head says no. Lots of other top players who were franchise level players for many years won’t make the AS game this season either.

It’s a pity that Kobe was injured and missed a couple of All Star appearances in 2014 and 2015 due to injury, he could have bowed out then.

As he has offically announced he will be retiring after this season, the chances of him being voted in have probably greatly improved now.

NBA All star game is just an entertaining exhibition game & occasion for the fans .the only thing in the Association that fans have a voting in it
tbh I stopped putting so much into it ,it is a popularity contest and sometimes I think they should make it all by voters and face that reality
if there is an award for players it is “NBA all team” not the All-Star
btw ,I don’t remember it happened that more than 2 players voted by fans while they didn’t belong to the All-Star game .in many cases it is an injured or old player like Iverson in 2010 or Yao in his last years .and the NBA has voted for Kidd in 2010 because he is Kidd and needed someone more from the Mavs.so it isn’t only the fans who make stupid votes tbf
