Mr. BasketballParticipanti say yes because he would bring a great scoring boost off the bench.

Knicksboy34ParticipantNO.

gatorheelsParticipantThey would be better off signing somebody else. They should sign Sessions. That way once Baron leaves they still have their PG for the future. Iverson does nothing for the Clippers. They would have a slim chance to make the playoffs but so what if they do make it. They aren’t going to get far. Clips just need to stay young. If they pay a free agent it needs to be a young one that has a long future.

Stanford hoopsParticipantbad move and reports still say iverson is not willing to come off the bench

Knicksboy34ParticipantI think they should add another PG.
Also, anyone think LAC should dangle Camby to Hou to get T-mac contract?

Mr. BasketballParticipant^hell no!

Meditated StatesParticipantThey have Gordon and BD there is no room for him. Blake is going to be the man there and Iverson would get in the way of that. I think this is to sell tickets and creat a buzz if it goes down.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/14/2009 - 11:29am #181468

gatorheelsParticipantMaybe this:
Clippers get McGrady- they will let him go after the season- his contract expires…this will allow the Clippers to have a lot of money to spend in the 2010 free agent market
Rockets get Kaman, Q Richardson, Thornton

sheltwon3Participantno because it will take shots away from Griffin, people will start to buy if Griffin starts off well. AI could stunt his growth some. He could possibly improve Eric Gordon though, AI has some moves that i would love for Gordon to have and also Gordon could practice guarding AI and improve his defense by that.

Mr. BasketballParticipantgatorheels: the clippers have 7.4 million trade exception which means that they can make a trade with a salary difference of 7.4 million. the contracts don’t have too match up. why would the clippers trade thornton in that trade?!
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/14/2009 - 11:36am #181477

Mr. BasketballParticipantsessions deal would be matched since he is a restricted FA.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s a bad move. First, we all know Iverson is not willing to come off the bench… And even if he was, why would he come off the bench for the Clippers? He should sign with a contender if he’s willing to come off the bench.
Second, I think it’d take away playing time from Eric Gordon which wouldn’t be smart considering Iverson would only be with the Clippers for one season. It’s not worthed.
Third, what the Clippers need is a backup point guard because Mike Taylor isn’t ready. I like the idea of Sessions pushing Davis for playing time. They could also use another 2nd/3rd string 4/5 man since Brian Skinner chose to opt out of his contract.
Signing Iverson is Donald Sterling’s idea just to put some extra money in his pockets. I’m not sure Iverson can still fill arenas like he used to.

gatorheelsParticipantclippers- I didn’t know about the trade exception. However, you have to give the Rockets something good. McGradys contract is very valuable. Getting Kaman wouldn’t be enough to convince the Rockets to give up TMac. Also the Clippers should be looking to trade Kaman & not Camby IMO because Cambys contract expires after this year. Kamans contract is pretty ugly.

Mr. BasketballParticipantwe already have a bunch of money for 2010. it will be tough to lure a top free agent so we don’t need enough money to try and lure two if it will already be tough enough to get one. also, we want to try and compete this year which means we are not looking for a salary dump.

gatorheelsParticipantUmmm…McGrady gives you a chance to compete this season & u get the benefit of his expiring contract
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/14/2009 - 12:32pm #181506

Da1potParticipantWhy get Iverson when you already have a trigger happy sg in Eric Gordon who is a very young up and coming star? The Clippers cannot honestly hope to contend anyway yet.

SDEParticipantAi isnt coming off the bench period and will say he going to pass but wont did the same thing in denver took to many shots from melo

doubledribblerParticipantIt’s an awful move. He’s just another guy that can stunt the development of their young players. I thought they just traded one of those away. I remember talking to one of the guys at ESPN and telling him that he should just wait and eventually Blake Griffin would be surrounded by Baron Davis, Allen Iverson and Zach Randolph. Unfortunately, Randolph got traded. It would have made for great TV. Blake Griffin seems doomed. Maybe he needs to go to Europe so that he will at least have a good career, because the Clippers and Dunleavy will do their best to destroy him. I swear if Lebron had gotten drafted by them, he would have turned into Gerald Green.
Anyways, enough of all that. Everyone wants to experiment to see if Iverson can be a good teammate. It’s not going to happen. I used to love to watch him play, but the only team he ever had success on was a team in which he had a hall of fame coach and everyone around him was a hardworking defensive player rebounding his misses. Philadelphia and Denver got better immediately after he left. It’s no coincidence. He had the chance to try to fit in with Detroit. All he had to do was come off the bench. He got his coach fired, destroyed the locker room and after the season the GM went from trading one guy to wanting to rebuild the whole team from scratch. Donald Sterling will sign him because Iverson will make him more money than his contract is going to cost. That’s what this guy does.

matt12328ParticipantWhere do you think he will end up with the best shooters of all-time?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/14/2009 - 3:53pm #181619

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t know if he’ll ever be an ELITE shooter like a Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Larry Bird, Craig Hodges, Dell Curry, etc, but he’ll be a very good one. As hard as he works on his shooting, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did though. He has always worked hard on his shooting… Lol probably been shooting since birth. He needs to get a little more arch on his shot IMO.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/14/2009 - 4:15pm #181632

esperanzafleet69ParticipantIF he agreed to come off the bench yes it would be a good move… because the injury proneness of bdiddy and the complete lack of depth for the clippers for the gaurd position pg or sg, iverson wouldnt be that bad…. but it would be way better for ai to be on charlotte or miami.. at least he could get pt in those places.. even in miami have chalmers get like 20 mins iverson 30 dwade 35… have chalmers be the 6th man…. would still be good… dwade gets most of the handles there anyways..
