Wow not sure what to think of this one as a wizards fan.

we needed an additional prescense inside but with mahinmi having just turned 30 and with us already having gortat on an expensive long term deal im not too sure.

However now we can finally fix our defensiv problems with an additional interior defender and shot blocker now our defense looks suprisingly nice.

    The depth chart so far:

    1. John Wall, Thomas Satoransky

    2. Bradley Beal, Jarell Eddie

    3. Otto Porter, Kelly Oubre Jr., Martell Webster

    4. Markieff Morris, Drew Gooden

    5. Marcin Gortat, Ian Mahinmi

We need a better backu along with more backcourt depth as well as better depth at the power forward position.

(P.S Jeez can we please get some more shooting? shaun livingston could probably shoot threes better than everyone in this lineup apart from beal)

Too much for a back up center/rotation guy. But Wizards really can’t let another year of Drew Gooden defense go on. Mediocre move but it doesn’t hurt them at all to get Big man help.

I don’t see the Wiz beating the Cavs with that front line, Mahinmi is a very expensive back up to a guy in Gortat who has a bit of an antiquated game and is probably getting to the age where he should be a back up too. Some upgrades upfront are gonna be needed in my opinion for them to start pushing into the conversation of being able to beat the Cavs, a guy like Whiteside would have been a really big get for the Wiz.

It’s too bad the Wizards couldn’t land Horford he would have really made an impact to that lineup as they have been desperate for a stretch 4 to compliment Gortat. Morris is an ok option but is inconsistent, has questionable shot selection, and is not a great defender. He ideally is your big man off the bench to provide a spark. The Wizards definitely could use some firepower. They should get themselves in the trade talks for Rudy Gay and Greg Monroe. They really need to add some 3 point shooters as John Wall is elite in setting up 3 point shooters but if you have guys like Porter and Oubre taking the shots you can definitely do better.

For the rest of free agency I think they should target another stretch 4 like Andrew Nicholson or a playmaking 4 like Terrence Jones.

Monta Ellis would be a nice backup at PG & SG with Oubre being able to fill in at 2-guard off the bench.

I know its probably not a popular opinion but $11mil a year isn’t a lot to pay after looking the contracts signed this off season.

To what a crisis this franchise get into, they went in one year from being most promise team in the east and big contender to land Durant to a lottery team, can’t sign Horford and Mahinmi is the biggest name they can get with big overpay…

It tells you how well the NBA is doing when average players at best are getting $16 million per year.
