It’s hard to imagine any team being as bad as the Heat next year.

With LeBron and Bosh gone, they do have plenty of money, but will anyone want LeBron’s sloppy seconds?

The Heat basically have to throw a TON of money at Eric Bledsoe right?

Put him with D Wade and then they have Napier and Norris Cole off the bench.

McRoberts is ok, but they still would need to fill out the rest of the team.

You could do a small ball team of Napier, Bledsoe, D Wade, McRoberts, and some other big man.  Ed Davis?

If the Heat want to make a "splash" now, or at least salvage their offseason, I think Eric Bledsoe is Plan A right now.

Should they be just ok to not lose a top 10 pick, or should they just TANK?

I think that if they can’t get Bledsoe that they should do a full no tank job with D Wade as their aging legend and with Napier jacking up shots like there is no tomorrow.

There are still plenty of decent to good free agents available and Miami is an awesome city. Plus, no state tax in FL.

I could see them making a move for a SF like Deng or Ariza.  With so much capspace there is so much flexibility.

bad thing for Miami is that as part of the sign and trade to get LeBron they gave up their 2015 first round pick to Cleveland.  Talk about salt in the wound.

don’t know why I am not allowed to edit but I realize the pick is protected.

I wouldn’t go after the mid-tier guys if I am Miami.  I would make a big push for Eric Bledsoe and maybe some other young guys with reasonable demands.

But, if they miss out on those guys, then I just pay D Wade (or find out if he wants to go somewhere else) and then go after a good draft pick.

Then look ahead to 2015 to go after Marc Gasol or whoever is left.

If the Heat can’t sign anybody this year and feel obligated to pay D Wade $40 million I would just do a 3 year deal that is HEAVILY front loaded.  Something like $25 million next year, $7.5 million in year two, and $7.5 million in year 3.  Don’t pay guys who won’t make a huge difference.  Keep D Wade happy, but have a ton of room for next season’s free agent class.

Let’s not forget that no matter how good NARL is gonna be (and he’s gonna be a beast), the Sixers are still far and away the worst team in the NBA.

If Wade goes to the bulls, they should sign Bledsoe and Stevenson. Then pick up Turner or Al-Faruq Aminu for cheap. Also Ed Davis could be had for cheap. Then your still rebuilding but with some good young pieces.

Yeah, I really like the idea of Bledsoe on the Heat.  Ed Davis would be a nice pickup too as a shot blocker and dunker inside.  Yeah, then Aminu would give them a utility guy at the 3 who can rebound and could turn into a Luol Deng type guy if his offense develops.

Norris Cole, Bledsoe, Aminu, Ed Davis, and McRoberts with Shabazz Napier as the 6th man ain’t good but it ain’t too bad either.

At least they are building something there.

If you can get that along with a top 10 pick in 2015 along with some good free agents they can regroup.

Even if D Wade resigns I like the idea of them going after Bledsoe (as well as Aminu and Ed Davis).

They could become Suns East which could be enough to make the playoffs.

Assuming Birdman leaves, the Heat should then go after Patric Young as a local college guy who can give them a mix of what Joel Anthony and Chris Anderson did.

Now I am wondering what they do with Udonis Haslem.  If he can’t get a better contract somewhere else, then the Heat should pay him his money (maybe over 3 years instead of 1 year).  You have to reward a guy like that.

Other than D Wade and Haslem, the only other guy that I would give a contract to would be James Jones.  He is from Miami, loves the place, and he can hit the 3.  Give him a solid deal, then roll with D Wade, Haslem, James Jones, along with Napier, Eric Bledsoe, McRoberts, and Aminu and/or Ed Davis.

From here on out, you try to make D Wade as happy as possible, reward a consummate pro like Udonis Haslem, and then put together a team that can wait out LeBron, Duncan, Chris Paul, and maybe even Durant/Westbrook.

For me, the ideal Heat lineup next year would be:

Guards: D Wade, Eric Bledsoe, James Jones, Cole, and Napier

Forwards: Aminu, Ed Davis, Josh McRoberts, Danny Granger (didn’t he already sign?), and Udonis Haslem

Centers: Patric Young, Justin Hamilton (still under contract).

That’s 12 guys right there.  Add another center and a wing defender to complete the 14 man roster.

Ok, I forgot about James ENnis.  He is the small forward for the future.  So he completes their active 13 man roster.  For a 14th man I would go after another center.  Either the best (cheap) free agent available or an undrafted rookie or D League guy.

How about we let free agency play out before annointing a team the worst in the NBA.  Miami still has a ton of money to spend, and could bring in some quality players.

Bosh has resigned, we assume D-Wade will resign ( amount to be decided). If they have $20 plus million in cap space then maybe a run at Deng and Pau Gasol could be made?

Miami will fall back but should still be a top 5 seed I’d figure.

Could they make a last minute pitch to Melo I wonder?
