valentineThey are burning all his memorabilia and having bonfire parites. They are probably going to try to hurt him when he comes back to Cleveland. They say he’s never welcome back….
Honestly, I respect LeBron more now because he doesn’t deserve this…. Can a player leave his damn team? Why do they act like he was married to them? Okay, he went on TV. He raised a lot of money for charity and I see nothing wrong.
And I need to go to Cleveland because I sure as hell would take some free LeBron memoribilia. They shouldn’t be polluting their city more than it already is.

JNixonParticipantA man on TV was saying that Lebron leaving Cleveland was the worst thing that’s ever happened to him IN HIS LIFE…..That’s sucks for him. Means either he’s extremely gay or he seriously has no life.
All of that hate over an athlete that wouldn’t know anybody that’s talking about him. I mean, if that guy slapped Lebron in cold blood in the middle of the street, Lebron would have no idea who he was. So why are their fans taking it so seriously? LOL, pretty funny and sad

mikeyvthedonParticipantWhere a player actually lives up to tremendous potential thrust upon them, has individual and gets close to having team success, and than is made to carry a city. If LeBron had said this earlier, would the reaction have been different. I doubt it would be as severe, but professionalism is usually something that happens in sports when you are trying to make a team, not when you are trying to carry one. I hope Cleveland fans get over it, I am sure it will take time, but to do this is ridiculous. No matter where LeBron goes, he is still representing Cleveland. If Boston would have won the chip this year, would Paul Pierce have to flee Los Angeles (where he is from)? What are we, despots? LeBron will always be from Akron and represent Cleveland, why aren’t people happy about that? I do not see a lot of people putting themselves in LeBron’s shoes, and if you did and still feel he should not have left Cleveland, than maybe you are a better person than he is, or I am. But if you looked at the big picture, besides the one hour special on ESPN that was as corny and stupid as most things ESPN does (besides Stump the Schwab, lol), what would you have done differently? This is a delicate process, and LeBron was playing with fire, maybe that is why he signed with the Heat :), but what would you have done differently?
If you say, “Well I would never be LeBron James”, well that goes without saying, but say you are in his body, though I doubt you or I could understand what that would be like, but say you are and what would you have done differently about this decision. If you say play for Chicago or New York, again, not what I am asking, but how would you have let down a girl who is threatening to go to ridiculous lengths and do bad things to keep you? She is not a pretty girl, mind you. But you know her quite well, but have no idea how to do it and not hurt her? What would you do NBAdraft.net?0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/09/2010 - 9:31am #350391

Bvilleballer21ParticipantHe meant everything to that city. Which makes it even harder for me to believe that they are reacting the way they are. He put them on the the map. He made me a cavs fan, and though I might not follow them like I have the last 7 years, I will still pay attention to the Cleveland Cavaliers. I just cannot believe after all he has done for that city that they would burn his jersey in the streets like he committed some heinous crime. Cleveland simply couldn’t get it done as far as surrounding bron, best records or not. He had to go to win.

mikeyvthedonParticipantNot a lot going on in Cleveland I guess, lol. Man, I was drawn into this, I have cheered for LeBron hard, but even if he left the Raptors (like Chris Bosh did, and I live here), I would not lose sleep. I love basketball dearly, but I know there is a lot left in life, and I know it is a cold hard corporate business as much as it is a league with great athletes playing what we all think is the greatest game in the world. I do not know if other people think about this though, lol, after all, the Ohio Electoral College in 2004 was pretty shady….

Forte IVParticipantPeople are saying if he was going to leave, he shouldn’t have done it on tv. Yet I bet 100 bucks thats even if LeBron said he was going to Miami in private Cleveland would react in the same exact way.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWord Iggy,
If a man said the worst thing in his life? He must live in his mom’s basement.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI completely agree with you. I think the way he announced it has less to do with their reaction than what people are making it out to be. I just think they would go crazy either way, and the fact he did it in a way that was pretty much set up to stab someone in the heart was the perfect exit strategy for Cleveland fans (and owners) to lose their marbles. Well put man, glad someone said it.

wd40rocksParticipantThe Cavs might as well move to Seatle and change their name to the Supersonics….

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantLebron made Cleveland relevant. Cleveland needs Lebron, Lebron doesn’t need Cleveland. By the way he is from Akron, not Cleveland. What sucks is Cleveland sports are going to suck for a long time. Browns football team sucks. Cleveland Indians have been trading their best players for nothing, and the Cavs are going back to the lottery. At least Cincinnati baseball and football is good.

buckeyefanParticipantIt could be that guy knows that because lebron is leaving depending on were he works he might lose his job.
Some people need to realize just how this impacts people in Northeast Ohio.

Toronto16ParticipantThey are not mad at the fact that he left its HOW he left. A one hour TV special to say you are spitting on Cleveland? Yea, the hate is warranted.

RondoJB11ParticipantThis is the worst case of disrespect to any one athlete in my life. I mean he gave them 7 god years and thats how they thank him? I mean I’m not from Cleveland so I may not fully understand but still burning his jerseys that they payed for is ridiculous.
