Orlando receives: Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins from Oklahoma City. They get youth, star power, and a future building block in exchange for a player for whom they could possibly get nothing. They also get a second young, athletic big and some solid depth and experience with Perkins. They’d have to decide what to do with Jameer Nelson (maybe it’s his time to come off the bench). Westbrook-Redick-Richardson-Ibaka-Perkins

Charlotte receives:Ryan Anderson and Hedo from Orlando. This clears minutes for Kemba Walker to play and unclogs that logjam, adds a fourth-year big man who can stretch the floor and put up nearly 18 ppg, and they probably buy out Hedo or release him after the year (or however else they can get rid of him). If they get Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson would be a nice piece to have alongside him. Walker-Henderson-Maggette-Anderson-Diaw (for now, eventually Drummond or Davis)

Oklahoma City receives: Dwight Howard from Orlando, DJ Augustin from Charlotte. I know Westbrook and Durant are playing together well for now, but what’s going to happen in the playoffs? Westbrook is a polarizing figure, particularly on this message board. Everyone has an opinion on him, but this trade makes sense. They get an unselfish, quick, young PG in Augustin who can “feed the beasts” and make good decisions and play under control. They’d go Augustin-Harden-Durant-Collison-Howard.They would sacrifice some depth, but wouldn’t it be worth it to bring one of the best bigs to ever play in the NBA? I just think they’d have a better chance at winning a title with Howard than with Westbrook.

I think this deal works for everyone. It didn’t work on the ESPN Trade Machine, but the trade machine still has Westbrook’s old salary before he signed his extension, so I think it would work now.

Imagine if that Oklahoma City team played Miami in the Finals…what a series that would be if they had Howard!

Extension doesn’t mean a raise for the current season. And even with as great as Howard is OKC is not going to give up 3 starters to get him.

OKC is too good to just blow it all up.

The Thunder haven’t been busting their tails trying to earn the #1 seed in the West  to change/blow it up for a potential rental player.

Way too much for Dwight, Ibaka and Perk? Orlando should do it for westbrook straight up, they aren’t getting a franchise player anywhere else.
