valentineIt happens every year..Someone we the fans ,tv commentators & the media, have pegged as lottery picks ..Fall into the late 1st or early 2nd round or doesn’t get drafted at all…In 2000 high school sensation center Eddy Curry was the rave..Some said he was going to be the next Shaq..He was the crowned to be the top pick that year..Curry went number 4..In 2001 the late Eddie Griffin was having an outstanding freshman season for Seton Hall averaging 17 points-10 rebounds-4 blocks..Many had him as the top pick that year..But Griffin went number 6..Selected by the Nets and imediately traded to the Rockets..Last season Pitt’s DeJuan Blair & Arizona’s Chase Budinger were labeled lotto picks..But both went in the 2nd round.. In 2002 After an All-American career at Duke..Many felt Carlos Boozer would be a top 10 pick..But surprisingly he lasted until the 35th pick..Antonio Anderson was a great defensive player while at Memphis.Dude was 6’6 had a decent outside shot and played the point at certain moments during games..Some felt he would be a 2nd round pick and in 2 or 3 years might’ve become a defensive warrior ala Bruce Bowen..Anderson wasn’t drafted..After all the workouts, the measurements and the testing..G.M’s & Scouts still sometimes get it wrong..Don’t be surprised to see your favorite players lasting longer then you think they will or going earlier than expected..
Here are several guys i think will go later then expected…
1.Wesley Johnson-
2.James Anderson-
3.Armon Johnson-
4.Devin Eubanks
5.Avery Bradley
6.Elliot WilliamsHere are several guys that will go earlier than expected…

7.Art Parakhouski
8.Luke Babbitt
9.Terrico White
10.Trey Thompkins

gregoden08ParticipantDevin Ebanks is a late first round pick in my eyes. Wes is vastly overrated as well and it’s a joke that he’s 3rd on the mock. He will probably be a late top-10 pick, but I think that’s to high. Elliott/Avery will both be mid-late first rounders. I disagree about Gani Lawal and Butler going earlier, but everyone else I agree with. I’m not sure if Kris will/should enter the draft. His game is to raw right now. Would be a bad idea.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI’m confused, you think Kris Joesph and Trey Thompkins is entering the 2010 draft?
Ebanks and Johnson are not overrated. Ebanks could be a great pro and Johnson will be a top 7 pick.

Adi JosephYou know, this happens every single year. Projections are based on "what if the draft was tomorrow," because you can’t project who is about to bust out.
I don’t really think Da’Sean Butler could improve his stock right now, after what he did in the Big East Tournament.
We also happen to have Avery Bradley in the 2011 mock draft, so I don’t know how he’s falling.
And Wes Johnson is pretty much a top-10 lock, even if he does fall out of the No. 3 spot we’ve heard he’s solid locked into.

QUINCEYpittman and reynolds will get drafted..ill put money on that one
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 8:58am #265922
wenichParticipantPittman will definitely get drafted but I’m not sold on Reynolds….I’ll take that bet
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:17am #265934
QUINCEYpretty much its a given reynolds gets in in the second round from every thing ive read from sites that have talked to nba scouts
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 9:30am #265942
wenichParticipantThere will be plenty of talk and speculation for the next few months and I’m sure almost everyone would say he’s a guaranteed 2nd round pick, but we will see when someone actually has to pull the trigger and make the pick for a 6 foot scorer who is not a PG……we will see in June.

QUINCEYplenty of scoring guards at 6’1 and a half go in the second round..happens every year especially when youre one of the best players in argueably the best conference in college basketball on one of the best teams

QUINCEYon top of the nba working on guards that height to become pg

pistonsmanParticipantAndy Rautins will get drafted it might be in the mid second round. He is a great player he can play D and shoot the ball with range and he just knows how to play.

QUINCEYits possible for andy since hes pretty good his will depend on workouts though

gatorheelsParticipantAubrey Coleman is a lock to get drafted. Solid overall game….can score a ton, rebound, pass, & most importantly he is a very good defender.

QUINCEYi think he will go late second.. wouldnt be suprised if he didnt though since there has been a couple guys who have lead the ncaa in scoring while scoring more points but didnt get drafted

JoeWolf1Texas had a disappointing end of season, but Pittman has come on late playing really well in the Big 12 tournament (15pts 5.5 rbs), including dunking on guys and finishing hard around the rim. He is the type of player who can disappear for a while in a game, but his size and fundamentals will get him drafted in the 2nd round. I don’t think he has a real high ceiling, but a 2nd or 3rd string center with that kind of strength if he can keep his weight down is something that will make him one of the top 60 players on every teams board.
I’d take Pittman over Parahouski any day

knicksfan7ParticipantI am not sold on Aubrey Coleman. He can score in bunches, but he can go into bad cold streaks as well, I see him as a poor man’s Jamal Crawford. I think he is a 7th or 8th man.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 10:36am #265969

gatorheelsParticipantColeman’s draft stock isn’t based on his scoring ability. Scouts want a guard who can come into the league & will already be a solid defender. Coleman is a beast on defense. Plus what other 6’4" guard averages 7 rebounds & 2.7 steals a game. The fact that he averages 26 points a game certainly doesn’t hurt haha. Plus he can create his own shot easily. I’m not even saying he will be a star or even a starter but I do think he is a lock to get drafted.

LeroyJenkinsParticipantand dont forget how the hoop summit helps international prospects…especially bigmen in the last few years
0 - Posted on: Sun, 03/14/2010 - 10:38am #265971
knicksfan7ParticipantI think he will get drafted because leading the country in scoring in a top 10 conference in the country helps his case. I just don’t like saying a guy is a lock because you just never know. A lot of people on this site thought Dionte Christmas was a lock to get drafted, and he went undrafted.

QUINCEYthats youre opinion..and like you said before you dont know any scouts gator
my opinion is he’s good but there have been other guards in the past who have done the same thing. and his scoring doesnt always translate to wins and he does it in a ok conference. also listed at 6’4 so chances are he could be 6’3. either way its short for his position and he doesnt seem to have freakish long arms. i havent asked any contacts that i do have about him so this is just my personal opinion

GrandmamaParticipantThe only place James Anderson will be falling come draft day will be him falling INTO the lottery. Second best SG prospect behind Evan Turner and can flat out light it up.
