I just don’t buy it. I think Russell is the better prospect, but skilled bigs are a premium still. This is a pg league not bc the game has changed, but bc bigs now a days are not that good outside of the top 2-3 centers. I think they are definitely taking Okafor and knows how much/badly Philly wants Russell. I think this is to get Philly to swap bigs while giving them assets, but I doubt Philly bites. Philly has tons of second round picks and young cheap players that the Lakers would like to add to fill out their roster. Don’t screw up your mock w/ Russell to Lakers.

I really can’t believe this too.

The whole bonanza is going to get started now and I’m excited for 1.000.00 reasons to see what Hinkie, Phil and all the other guys are trying to do.

The biggest question mark could be Portland, the Grizz or even the Cavs depending on which signals their top FAs gave to their respective teams.

I think the Lakers will draft Okafor and maybe they move him but he was top 2 all year long and if they aren’t really interested, there will be offers for him to snatch some assets.

I agree with you in general but never underestimate the entertainment value of a flashy guard like Russell. The Lakers are the kind of franchise that takes that sort of thing into account.

If that happens, do they take Okofor whether to keep him or see who’ll offer up what for him ?  Is embiid really an issue ?  Noel get moved ?  Anyone ?  HINKIE you’re killing me

Great question. If LA was to take Russell, I think Philly take the next best pg in Mudiay. I wrote a post asking about Smart, with the thought that they’ll take Porzingas and trade Noel for Smart, but the response I got was that Smart wasn’t really that good.

The reason it is a PG league is because of the rule change.  Years ago you literally could keep the palm of your hand on the offensive player as he was driblling. Now if you breathe on  a perimiter player it is a foul. PG’s today would never be able to build up the steam to attack the basket, they would be moved aside,

I think if the Lakers did pick Russell, it’d be time to tell Boston that they will trade the #3 pick. Boston is said to have a HUGE package prepared if Okafor slips. Honestly, with Philly, it’s Russell or bust.

I think if Russell goes second then the Sixers take Okafor and perhaps deal him for more assets and hopefully another lottery pick.

I heard Boston has a big offer in place in case of this scenario.

If they do draft Russell, does Clarkson become a 2 guard or would they flip Clarkson for a pick in the 7-15 range? Some are saying Willy Cauley Stein could drop as low as 13 because some screw from surgery was put in at a 45 degree and instead of 90 (no way). If he drops, maybe Clarkson is how they can get their center.

Do you think Clarkston would fetch a lottery pick????? I like him, but he did put up numbers on a horrible team. I would be shocked if teams buy into him to give up a lottery pick. I think if Russell was drafted, one starts at pg next season, the other off the bench as a combo. The following year, you run both as your guards.

I think it will ultimately come down to who Sacramento wants more.

I would not trade Clarkson and Clarkson can play both position.  The New NBA has interchangeable parts like how Curry can be the point and the shooting guard when others run the offense.  A backcourt of Russell/Clarkson with Kobe moving to the small forward position(a position he has played before in past situation).  You have Randle at Power forward and you a Center/big man type in free agency.  When Kobe retires you draft a small forward of you sign Carroll or Butler.

I believe the Lakers are baiting 76ers to trade up so they can get more pieces for the Cousins trade
