Truly, Huntington Prep is starting to look like a Team Canada training program. At first, it appeared that Findlay might be gunning for the honors, and their are still other schools with a flock of Canadian talent. Still, I am INCREDIBLY surprised that our resident Canada booster has yet to go crazy about what Huntington Prep has in store for next season. Seeing that I was born, raised and now reside in Toronto, I thought I had to shout out the fact that Huntington Prep does indeed look like a team full of some absolute monster prospects, many claiming citizenship from the USA’s northern neighbor.

Last year, in a sudden and pretty shocking move, 7’4 Sim Bhullar and 6’10 Stefan Jankovic left Kiski Prep in PA to attend Huntington Prep in West Virginia. They joined another highly regarded Canadian prospect in the HS Class of 2012 in Negus Webster-Chan a 6’7 combo wing, who at the time was slated to be attending Louisville (he has since de-committed). The move seemed to work pretty well, the team finished 25-3 on the year.

This year, it appears that anything less than perfection might be a tad disappointing. Not only are they returning Sim, Stefan and Negus for their senior years, but they are adding some monstrous underclass prospects. Sim’s "little" brother, Tanveer, originally decided to split from Kiski and head to Florida powerhouse prep Monteverde. Well, he has since decided that he would rather back-up his brother at Huntington, giving the team obscene size in the paint. Than, the news came that 6’7 SF Andrew Wiggins and once seemingly Findlay bound 6’3 combo guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes, two of the top prospects in the Class of 2014, have decided to join their teammates from their CIA Bounce AAU team at Huntington. If there play at the AAU level was any indication, both of them should be absolutely difference makers at the high school level.

So, the Canadian count looks to be 6, though it is still uncertain whether the lone freshman on last years Huntington Prep team, Francis Kiapway a 6’2 PG from Toronto, will be coming back to the team. Even so, all of the Canadian players should be playing big roles next year, with all besides the Bhullars able to play multiple positions at the HS level. If having all of the size from Canada was not enough, Huntington also landed the services of Elijah Macon. Having just led his All-Ohio Red squad to an AAU U17 National Championship (http://espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/basketball/mens/story/_/id/6826486/aau-nationals-finals-recap), the 6’9 and 230 pound PF/C should be a nice change of pace should the team want to run. He is a big time athlete and currently the #11 PF prospect on the ESPN 100, rated 44th overall.

Hope this gives a good breakdown of a team that does indeed aspire to compete for the HS National Championship. Certainly, they would seem to have the size to do so, though of course guard play will be absolutely important. Having watched an unstoppable Kevin Love in HS lose the State Championship his sophomore and senior year due to guards not being able to break presses and bring the ball up the court, this team will more than likely need to make sure they have guards that can control the game. Rathan-Mayes seems to be a good start, but it will be interesting to see who, if anyone, gives the team issues. While you wonder how a team with this kind of size and skill could lose, the answer would more than likely be the play of quicker, more athletic guards, not to mention outside shooting. Nonetheless, this team is definitely one to watch, and should be of major interest to those interested in the dealings of Canadian basketballs top future prospects.

High school basketball team rosters are getting as hard to keep up with as rudeboys child support cases, but with the Bhullar brothers size surrounded by so much length and athleticism at nearly every other position this team is gonna do some damage and i hope they get a game on ESPN.

Funding this school is going to look real good on the Red Rockets resume when he runs for king of Canada in 2022

They should’ve called it "Bonneroo".  You know, like "Bonnaroo"…but after Matt Bon…you get it.

Speaking of which… Huntington Prep must be the finest program in the country by now…of course other then Findlay Prep which is also a great program lol. Anyways back to my school of excellence…Huntington Prep. They have an outstanding frontcourt with the biggest players in the country, Tanveer and Sim Bhullar. The best wing prospect in the class of 2014 Andrew Wiggins. Xavier Rathan Mayes is like Wiggins partner in crime at the SG wing position, sort of like the new Tristamn Thompson, Corey Joseph duo. Stefan Jankovic is a very versatile 3/4 who should be making noise this year and will find himself in a division one club, probally Stanford, and Negus Webster Chan is one very talented wing who would likely have been  huge contributor for team Canada’s U-19 team if he had not gotten injured. Oh and I forgot to mention THEY ARE ALL CANADIAN AAAHAHAH!

They also have top 50 ranked PF Elijah Macon, top 100 ranked Hopkins, a freak athlete at PG named Evan Payne, some Ray Lee dude. But they arent Canadian…

I live not far at all from Huntington Prep, so I’ll be getting to see some games this upcoming year. Can’t wait to see this ish. And to think, I was excited to watch OJ and Patterson. Looks like West Virginia is starting to get a little love.
