Here is how I believe they should finish off the roster (assuming no cp3):

Without Craig Smith, they have 10.5 million to spend…

    1. assume craig smith signed a 1 year, 3 million dollar deal.

    2. sign T-Mac to a 1 year, 5.5 million dollar deal. (it looks like the Bulls will sign shannon brown rather than t-mac now that the Lakers got Matt Barnes.)

    3. sign Earl Barron (Center) to a 2 year, 4 million dollar deal. (he is a very underrated big man. In a short stint in NY last year he broke out and averaged 11.7 ppg and 11.0 rpg. he can be a stop gap for deandre jordan and be a cheap and reliable big to back up kaman and bolster the bench. All I have heard about him this offseason is that he rejected the knicks offer. I believe its because it was not multi-year so this should get it done.

That gives them 14 players. Last year they started with 14 to begin the season.

They should then invite the following to training camp that aren’t on the roster:

    1. Nik Caner Medley
    2. Marques Blakely
    3. Rashad McCants (Look I know he has body language problems but he can flat out play. The fact that he is 6-4 doesn’t matter, he has a great NBA body like Eric Gordon. Also, if they sign him out of Training camp, it can be a non-guaranteed contract which means they can cut him with no penalty anytime before a certain day in the season which is after the All-Star break.

    ROSTER (with McCants signed):

PG: Baron Davis, Eric Bledsoe, Willie Warren
SG: Eric Gordon, Randy Foye, Rashad McCants
SF: Tracy McGrady, Ryan Gomes, Al-Farouq Aminu
PF: Blake Griffin, Craig Smith, Brian Cook
C: Chris Kaman, Earl Barron, Deandre Jordan

    Now that’s a deep team!

    What do you think?

Smith did resign with LAC. I believe a 1 year deal.

I think the Clippers should look to sign McGrady and that’s it IMO. Go into next season with Cap Space. You could move Baron Davis down the road. Right now? The Clippers should be fighting for a 8th seed.

Knicksboy Smith did re-sign with the clippers but nobody knows what the terms of the deal were thats why he said “assume craig smith signed a 1 year, 3 million dollar deal”.

McCants is 6′ 3″ at best… and the last thing the Clippers need is an attitude in their locker room. McCants thinks he’s better than LeBron…. and I’m serious.

I think you can land TMac at a lower price. He’s certainly worth the gamble, but I just don’t see too many teams would go after TMac, so maybe 3mil would land TMac.

Your ideas look good, the Clippers can be competitive if all players stay healthy.

I think Vinny Del Negro is a much better coach than Mike Dunleavy.

My bad, I got confused because he said without Craig Smith at the beginning.

HELL NO on McCants…not in a clipper uniform! He’s an underachiever with attitude problems…i dont want him on this team at all!!! CHemistry is something that has dooged this team for the past two years and this is the last thing they need!

and no on Earl Barron…DJ is entering his third year and you have to throw him into the fire sooner or later…if signing Barron means that DJ will have to play behind him then you might as well just trade DJ! He needs to get serious backup minutes right now if the orgnazation thinks he’s gonna be there future at center position!

I like NCM and Marcus Blakely getting invites to come to camp…espically Blakely!

Dont really like the idea of T Mac on this team…all it does is take touches away from Blake and EJ…and this team isnt good enough to make the playoffs out west so theres no point in bringing in a broken down McGrady who also has attitude problems

That would be nice, but the Clippers’ number one priority should be keeping everybody healthy.

So the Clippers should sign McCants and end up with 3 undersized 2-guards on their roster? I would prefer their next player to be a versatile backcourt player.

There’s no back court player that could steal minutes at the point or at the 3 on the roster, except maybe Rasual Butler, but I wouldn’t mind an upgrade over him. He shoots too many three pointer and only had a very low 30 something percent average, and didn’t offer too much more than that.
