valentinemy bet is not many. I wouldnt look past western kentucky just because of their record if they keep recruiting as well they have a chance to be a really solid team for years to come.

BiggysmallsParticipantThere are a handful. Western Kentucky seemed like they were on track to becoming a top mid major program a couple years back with Courtney Lee and co. but have fallen off a bit. Its just really hard for Mid Major type programs to consistenly year in and year out compete because the recruiting style most of them have is going to be inconsistent. They just simply dont put together successful recruiting classes year to year and because of it, most top teams that make a run are led by a group that is heavy in one class (usually seniors)
Mid Major programs should try to model themselves after Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s because those two schools have really done an outstanding job finding top talent from other countries, so while their recruiting in America is under the radar, they are able to consistently compete with the big boys to a degree.
