This site has John Leuer at #27 in the 1st round and Justin Harper at #38 in the 2nd round.

How exactly is John Leuer a better NBA prospect than Justin Harper?

    I’d like to know.

    Good post Cyclo. I agree.

Harper has more upside, as well as being a better defensive player.  I think Leuer is a average defender, good shooter but Matt Bonner like.

i totally agree with you cyclo…i really like Harper, he lead Richmond to the Sweet 16 with a much lesser supporting cast than Leuer. He has more athleticism, his shooting percentages were better and showed big improvement from last year to this one. Honestly though, I really don’t see either one of them making that huge of an impact

^ he did not lead Richmond to the Sweet 16, Kevin Anderson did. For Harper though, he’s a very good shooter but for his size(6’10") he’s weak in the post, actually he doesn’t look to go to the post. He’ll probably be a SF in the league and if he learned a post game he could be a huge mismatch against SF’s.

Leuer is one of the most skilled big men the college game has seen in recent years. His athleticism is limiting, sure. But he’s an excellent shooter with NBA range and a great passer for his size — or any size, really.

He’s also a better rebounder than Harper and a more unique player overall.

Leuer is the better player by a mile. Its not even close. Harper is soft, and not very fluid. He has the size to be an ok pick and pop guy in the league maybe, but thats it. I dont think he has any upside beyond that. I dont see him being as athletic as everybody says.

I think Leuer actually has the size to play some minutes as a Center, which gives him increased value. He is stronger, tougher, a better shooter and more polished overall. Kid is a winner.

I think u guys got this topic mixed up…..

Cyclo was stating that Justin Harper is a better NBA Prospected not player

I tottaly agree with that statement Justin has more potential 2 grow in many areas and that wat most scouts are looking for now a days…. where opposed 2 John has very little potential but he’s already a well polished player which makes him seem like a better player….. In the long run Justin will be a player in my opinion and John is goin 2 a NBA Nobody after a couple of years…. But who really knows its the NBA anything can happen…..

    Future Comparisons

Justin Harper: Drew Gooden (type player)

    Jon Leuer: Chris Latterner

I see Harper as a SF in the NBA.  Stretch PF perhaps, but SF is his natural NBA position.

At 6’10", he’ll score in the post against NBA SFs with the greatest of ease.

His decent handle seals the deal and qualifies him to play SF in the NBA.

Can face up and beat people off the dribble.

    Pure shooter.

    Lights out from everywhere.

    44.8% from three-point range.

    Pull up J is solid.

Underrated athleticism.  Not elite, but not bad either.  He’s certainly not slow.

I see Harper as an ideal replacement for Grant Hill on Phoenix or Shane Battier on Houston (Houston has a hole at SF since Battier was traded).

I have him as a mid 1st round pick.

I don’t care what the draft sites say.

In his final game vs. Kansas, he totally outplayed the Morris brothers and defended them well.

That would make Lauer as the player with the most potential@penny. If I’m not mistaken Laettner was a All Star in his best season. Was gooden ever a allstar?  As far as career there stats are similar but Christian played till he was 35 which cause his numbers to go down, Gooden’s number for sure will take a dive if he plays that long

The only reason anyone say Harper has more potential is because he is more athletic

@cyclo, appreciate this kid too, late first rounder for me…but first rounder.

    Rashard poor men.

For the suns, hill will stay forever, he’ll be our parish-kevin willis, team is loaded with SF, + with guys like frye and warrick at PF, that’s not the right place for him.

Think he’ll end as a bull, they have 2 late first, he has a shot to be the 5th forward….
