I found him interesting since I first saw him in the Hoop Summit. He came in with the hype of being a versatile 6’8" pg/sg/sf. While he is still young to be a sophomore how do you guys think this will effect his draft status? I noticed that with his lack of playing time over the last season and a half his stock had went from lottery to maybe entering next year (if he sticks around to wait his turn to be featured in the offense)

I’ve watched most of KU’s games and despite his youth (same age as many high school seniors) he just doesn’t look like an NBA player. Great form but an inconsistent outside shooter, below average first step, I’ve never seen him completely blow by somebody, lacks poise and confidence right now, easily rushed into mistakes and also a very poor defender at the moment. Compared to Ginobli by this site but based strictly off his play at KU I just don’t see any sign of being an NBA player anytime soon. I really hope he stays

self, like every other D1 coach out ther is under pressure to win games.  He is not going to sacrifice wins for the sake of making Kansas a showcase for Mykhailiuk’s game.   If the kid can’t help them win games, then he won’t play, simple as that.

I want to point out a single exception to this and that is Kentucky.  In an interview in 2012, Calipari said that if Kentucky won a national championship but that his guys did not get drafted then he would consider that a disappointment.  Not sure how this went over with BBN but I thought it was an honest moment.

I think he chose the right school because Kansas is a national icon in basketball and it’s great place to play and learn the game. However, he probably chose the wrong coach. Bill Self doesn’t play the young man. He sat on the bench the entire game versus both Iowa State and Kentucky. I don’t know the dynamics of their relationship but obviously something isn’t right. If I’m a coach with an 18 year old who allegedly has a ton of talent/potential, I’m going to find a way to play him at least 12-15 minutes per game. 

The people at Draft Express who have him going between 17 and 25 in the first round clearly don’t know what they’re doing. How can you project a guy in the latter third of the first round who can’t even get off the bench on his college team? Are the Draft Express people idiots?

Having said that, I realize he’s very young (only 18 years old) and it’s far too early to lose faith in the guy. But either he isn’t as good as some people think or there’s a problem with the relationship between Coach Self and the young man.

 I think transfering somewhere where he can get time and also have another year of development would help him. It was smart for him to go to college when he was 17 because now he can transfer somewhere and be a 20 year old jr, with three years of college training. I don’t know how good he can be but he still has a lot of time to develop at the college level and even possibly at the NBA level.
